On a computer the following problems appeared after Windows Refresh: Windows 8 Metro apps doesn't load correctly (many apps are missing from the screen) and when you try to access the contents of drive C: the following error appears on the screen "C:\ is not accessible. Access is denied." As a matter of that Windows doesn't work normally and the user cannot access any of his personal files.
After some research on the Internet I found that this is a common symptom (problem) happening on many laptops after refreshing the Windows Operating System. Also during problem exploration, I discover that while on Safe Mode, I can access the disk contents normally without problems. At this point, I take advantage of this situation and I take a backup of the user's personal files before proceeding to resolve the 'access denied' error on disk C:\.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 and Windows 8/8.1 operating systems. Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).

Thanks for this! I tried a different thing with involved Command Prompt and the 'chkdsk' function which took about 6 hours to complete but it did nothing and this one worked immediately!

when i click on security, then advanced, it says “You must have Read permissions to view the properties of this object” then there’s a continue button with a blue and yellow shield by it. when i hit continue it does NOTHING. can you please help me out if you see this. Thank you so much!

Sadly my administrator is disabled so I can’t exactly access anything that has that weird shield thingy on it cus when I click on stuff like that nothing pops up and whatever I tried to do that requires administrator just stays there loading for 2 hours only for me to get a notification telling me that windows can not access this path please help. I have a similar issue as this, only worse. I can't use the start menu or open things in administrative mode. I can run cmd but I can't access anything outside of the user folder. I can't run cmd in administrator mode, it says access denied to windows folder. It says it can't show the owner of the disc and thus I can't change it. Very frustrating.
My acces is denied and when i open the computer the screen is black and the cursor is visible so I can’t do anything (I can’t even fix the black screen problem cuz the windows c drive is not working)

@@rajashahzaib2574 what i did was i removed my ssd windows was installed on used another pc to download windows onto a usb using windows media creation tool and installed windows onto the other drive, this does wipe everything bare in mind but thats what i did. u can install it on the other drive after if u want

Bro my pc says no os found. But I have another harddrive installed. I ordered a windows 11 usb asking if it would be fine if I installed my new os on hdd and recover my files from there? I am (was) currently using windows 10 pro 21h1 build or something

everything was going well but like everything else in my life something went wrong, when i pressed edit the screen simply crashed but it wasn't the notebook it was that small screen (data properties) it was this screen that froze what i do for the love of God
when i press next and change permissions the screen freezes again
