Hey Luvs! Do you prefer a liquid leave-in conditioner or a creamy, thick leave-in conditioner? For me, it just depends on what type of style I am going for but usually my hair loves creams, butters, etc.
Hey girl! Ive been a hairstylist for more than 10 years and I’ve worked with some of the biggest hair brands out there! I love your recipes and all of the knowledge you have! Keep it up!
I prefer creamy leave-in for the winter months, and liquid leave-in for the summer. I will try this leave-in soon. Thank you for using preservatives when using water.
The coconut oil was apart of the original recipe but I did not add it when I recorded 😬 Too complete the 100% you can add the coconut oil. If you wish to keep it omitted, then make up for the percentage else were. You can add more oil, a different oil, more Aloe Vera gel, etc. to balance your creation.
Thanks for this precision. I plan to add Abyssinie oil (crambe) instead, same quantity. My hair doen't like coconut oil and Abyssinie oil has great conditoning properties. It alsow protect the ends from dryness and split ends 😉 Good video by the ways, like always 😙
@@hawatoure7642 Thank you so much! I have never heard of Abyssinie oil. Thank you for introducing it to me, I will be looking in to it. Hey Yaya I just have one VERY important question that I didn't see asked..... How long did your batch last before the preservative stopped working and the product had to be disposed?
You'd need to send the product to a company for stability testing to determine the shelf life. Bacteria etc can start developing before you can even see it. As a rule of thumb for home formulators (since we're not working in sterile environments...such as a lab), it's best to use up what you have within 6 months (although I still have a cream which I made last year that still looks and smells good)
Yaya I really must say you are a wonderful lady! Thank you for sharing your formula with the whole world. I've been looking for a way to come up with a precise and effective coconut milk leave in for a while now and you already done this a year ago 😊 Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much darling. I do have a question.. I already had gotten guar gum as a thickener before I stumbled upon your video. Do you have any idea how I can replace your calculated emulsifiers with the guar gum and also do I add it to the water or oil phase?
Yes, BTMS-50 is good for the hair because it is more conditioning, less fatty alcohol and it adds more shines to hair while BTMS-25 is good for the skin because it has more fatty alcohol which is what the skin likes and it also has that nice sleek feel on the skin.
Hey Yaya I was wondering if I don't have Panthenol nor Cetearyl Alcohol is there anything I can replace them with? or can I just leave them out of the recipe and will it still be any good?
I am heavily into making my own hair ceeations and your videos has helped me recognize a lot of mistakes I was making years ago lol. Quick question: Does your creams tend to thicken over time and if not, what can I use in my products to stabilize the consistency?
That is great to hear! Glad I could help! Some products tend to thicken during the cool down phase but not over time. If your product is thickening, you could be adding too much of something. Like thickeners or butters. Let's say you want to make a "milky conditioner", you would probably leave out solid butters altogether or you can add more water if you do use a solid butter. For a milkier consistency, I would use a 2 to 3% ratio of solid butter or no butter at all. For this particular video, I wanted a thicker conditioner, so I used WAAAY more butter than necessary. Also, be careful of your fatty alcohols like cetearyl alcohol. This is a thicker that can cause your product to thicken too much if you add too much. So, really it is about balancing the ratio of ingredients to get what you want. This comes with trail and error which I know you know too well. The only way to stabilize that I know of is to use an emulsifier or fatty alcohol. This well keep your water and oil phases from separating. Other than that, I will have to do more research to find out how to keep it from thickening overtime if the ingredients have already been added. I hope this helps. I will have a Q&A video coming out soon where I will answer more questions about DIY's. So leave more questions below or a specific question you would like answered and Ill do my best.
