Youd know a developer screws up when a sequel, 12 years later is worse than the original
Did they fix the issue I always had? As soon as I get a couple of trade deals it reveals a chunk of the map, then ending your turn takes ages cause you can see so many AI nations. Even turning off watch AI turns doesn't help much.

It kinda funny how Rome 2 released as a trash game but it’s actually turned into a really really good game in my opinion. Always love unlocking the Praetorian Guard and spamming the hell out of them after breaking the economy
Edit: Spartan morale is insane in this game, I defeated an entire army, and two units of Spartan Hoplites decided that were gonna fight till the last man.. kinda cool though
Remember when Rome 2 was so hated for how simple it was? Remember that it was so easy that even in the EU4 Imperium Unversalis mod that simulated the Antiquity Era, they made fun of him saying "if you think this mod is easy, try Rome 2"? good memories

This game is actually pretty good now, except the confusing building slot system. I wish cities had more than 4 buildings.

Surprisingly enough, that is actually true in some way. Back in the day, before they patched that, the doors would be completely indestructible when open while also still not allowing enemies to pass through. So the attacker had no chance of winning. That was also the time when the AI would adopt the strategy of launching an attack on your city but not actually move their units, waiting for you to attack them outside, surrender the city or let the timer run out.
If you download the desert sandstorm thing, you can lead a MA'AM to be as Ceaser on Rome!

lol i never heard anyone complain about the game haha i love rome 2 don't know whats supposed to be bad about it. It's easy to play thats all. Try hards should stick to Hearts of Iron 4 and the other non pleasing visual RTS games.

This game is GREAT now all I need is a BETTER PC to play this :D
Elephants are E Z especially when you get artillery. Launch fire ammo at them and they'll go berserk and the AI will sync-kill them almost instantly long before they reach your armored gnomes.
Also, Rome always gets owned in R2 when controlled by the AI.

1:37 Interesting but true: The steam engine and the plane were technically both invented by Ancient Greeks in like 300 BC or something. They just thought steam powered planes were a silly novelty toy, though, so they didn't go anywhere with that technology. The inventions were lost to time shortly after then (or at least shortly in the grand scheme of things). An interesting "What if?.." scenario would be "What if the Greeks used primitive steam engines to kickstart the industrial revolution in 350-250 BC?" We'd probably have cured death by now, given we went from 95% of people being peasants in 1750 AD to there being basically no peasants in 2000 AD (at least in the west).

The best version of this game was before the African Kingdoms DLC, but not because of the We Wuz Kangz meme. It was because of the bullshit change to the female heir birth rate statistics. They said the chance of a female heir was increased to 33% or whatever. But at one point in my game the heirs were as follows, Female, Female, Female, Female, and possibly a fifth! All within a couple turns. Then when players complained in the forums on Steam the dev mods shut the dialogue down in the name of "toxicity". I wouldn't mind so much except that the female models are absolute shit, and the voice actors are sub par as well.
The sad thing is this game on launch is more fun than Imperator Rome... Impeator Rome while more polish than HOI4 on launch is so damn boring.
But atleast my Byzantium unit look better in EU4 now. good deal.
