    • @Ruimas28
      @Ruimas28 6 лет назад +9

      She was relevant. But she was no great leader. In all honesty, she was a non entity up till she got widowed. Then she was raped by the romans and it looks like her daughters also got it. That was seen as very distasteful by the tribes and it was quite a stupid thing to allow for the roman in charge. Long story short, everyone rallied behind her figurehead due to the mistreats and misconduct of the roman incompetent leader. Same incompetent managed to get a couple town sacked by the rebels. Finally, a true roman commander got a legion into the field and it was game over woman, game over! So much for the great female leader.

    • @the_tactician9858
      @the_tactician9858 4 года назад

      @@Ruimas28 For a female without any training in this subject, she managed to do okay imo. I feel she didn't do better than Spartacus, who somehow managed, as a slave, to almost defeat the legions, although he lost heavily in the end once (again) a proper commander came into the field.

    • @Ruimas28
      @Ruimas28 4 года назад +1

      @@the_tactician9858 The situation however is not the same at all. You are comparing a lady of royal blood who was recognized by her people and who could carry legitimate power to enlist warriors and everyone around......with a slave leading a slave rebellion within a foreign land. It is not quite exactly the same. In fact, its night and day. By the way, contrary to Spartacus, Boudicca could have appointed a more experienced military leader to lead her armies. She only needed to know who to trust and who not to trust. Ohh, sure they would not have roman legions. But its way different from Spartacus. Spartacus had to try and build his rebellion on an hostile land, without resources, everything from scratch. Boudicca was on her own lands, able to call on all available resources surrounding her. By the way, Spartacus did much much better. Spartacus achieved almost the same rate of success against worse odds. Both were fighting a lost war but Spartacus was much more effective with what he had available. If you want a more serious example you should look at the Iberian rebellion under Viriatos and watch how a proper local leader could put the roman legions in check for quite some time.

    • @the_tactician9858
      @the_tactician9858 4 года назад

      @@Ruimas28 I don't really see how that contradicts anything that I said, since I never claimed both were in the same situation other than both rebelling against Rome. But Boudicca's rebellion wasn't necessarily underperforming. Sure, Boudicca was of royal blood, but she still was a female, which might not have been as dramatic in Britannia as in Rome, but would probably have meant no education, especially in warfare. And her charisma was the only thing holding the rebellion together, which makes appointing a commander to do 'her task' a lot more challenging, albeit not impossible.
      Spartacus did a lot better, I think. I was not quite aware of the scope, perhaps, in which he outperformed Boudicca, but I always have held Spartacus in higher regard than Boudicca. However, he did have soldiers following him who were both desperate (and therefore didn't flee) and decent melee fighters with experience in combat. Britannia hadn't seen a lot of combat at the point of Boudicca's rebellion, so her soldiers were probably not very skilled.
      Viriatos' rebellion, by the way, does that happen to be the rebellion that endured 25 years until one Tiberius Gracchus negotiated them into a vassal state? Because that was a good rebellion indeed. I do feel the need however to point out that Iberia had been under foreign occupation (and thus had expertise in that whole rebellion thing) for a lot longer due to the presence of Carthage in the regio. Also Iberians were great in guerilla-style warfare thanks to their excellence in skirmishing and close-quarters fighting, which could offset the numerical advantages and the tactial formations of Rome and Carthage in terrain which was more difficult to traverse than open plains.
      I do agree with what you say, and merely want to present my own opinion on the matter. I hope we can at least agree on the fact that Spartacus' rebellion punched above its weight. ;)

    I play this game, because while it doesn’t have the super tactical AI that some people, like Volound, want, I find the AI’s straight forward attack or wait for the player to approach and flank only with cavalry to be much more realistic than some mastermind small unit movement ai.
    Super complicated strategies are the things of movies or poets. 90% of ancient to medieval battles are straight up attacks with cavalry flanks or hold the high ground fights. The rest are a mix of the rare sneaky strategy or tactics, like a night raid or fire attack. Realistically, you have to keep it simple or else the average illiterate recruit, conscript or if you’re lucky, soldier won’t understand it or get confused when there are inevitably complications. Medieval and ancient battles were not some tactical chessboard.
    Also, it’s just fun to send Roman legions to fight and die, and I find myself caring more about Rome than other major civilizations in other Total War games.

With you leaving that important bit of context, just so you can go lolz people hatez the womanz. For of course everything is about hating women! Quality in comics suck? • @forestelfranger
      @forestelfranger 6 лет назад +10

      @JannikGotPanick You missed the point. Learn to read. It;s not about the women. That and you have not proven it's historical, which is the point you are trying to make while ignoring the real one for you seem to have a hard time reading. This is why i made fun of people like you in the first post. You are so focus on making this about women, you are ignoring the unprofessional behavior that is akin to ea from ca. This is just like Captain Marvel, people point out the actress is being a bit unprofessional and you rush straight towards it's women lolz. While forgetting the behavior of the person in question, as if they don't exist or can do no wrong.
      It';s about the way ca reply to this. For something as minor as this, they were willing to try and pull ea tactics on you. To use pr speak by trying to twist words to make it seem like they don't have to give a care about being historical at all. To tell you not to play their game. That is bad service. They are meant to be professionals and should act like it. It's ca behavior, which was being akin to ea. Do you have that thick of a skull? That and they also reply mod it out or not play the game. Making it sound like some people might dislike this feature. So rather they force this feature onto everyone and leave it up to them to remove it. You know what paradox did with a recent hearts of iron 4 update? They allowed you to choose the rules for your game, to help tailor fit it to your designs. Giving the player choice. Ca was so lazy, they could not even put in a on or off choice for this feature. Which player choice is a good thing in games. For it allows them to tailor fit the game to their needs. Paradox even did this with crusader kings 2, by allowing the player to custom the game rules to their liking.
      In case you didn't get it. It's not about the women. It's about how ca reacted to it. Their behavior was unprofessional. Ca forces this choice onto everyone. Which which ok could be fine, another feature to simply learn how to deal with or remove. Yet then they reply. Leaves it up the player to fix things if they don't like this feature. Showing how lazy they are for they are able to think some might not like this but give the player no choice. That or people should stop playing. Which is not something you want. You want them to keep playing. For you do know they are still releasing dlc for rome total war 2 right? If people stop playing, that means there are less people out there to buy the new dlc. For they stopped playing the game or lost interested in it. It's simple common sense. You want someone to have a good experience with your company and it's product. To keep them around as a loyal buyer, so they will buy the next product. Unacting unprofessional does not make people want to buy your product. Which is how ca handle this, like they were ea. If they are willing to go so low as to act like ea for a single feature like this. What gives you hope that you can trust there word on anything major?

    You would think after having a fairly good AI in the original shogun total war, and releasing a billion new versions for decades, they would have been able to come up with a computer opponent that didn't decide to have a union meeting, in full formation, in the corner of the map?

    I actually liked Rome II quite a bit. Yeah, I know I’m weird. My biggest issue was that once you got to even just a medium size, you would snowball and become unstoppable really easily. Even a civil war was just a slight inconvenience
