Great list! I love using my discard/refrigerated sourdough for chewy granola bars! 2 parts starter discard: 1 part peanut butter, 1 part honey, 1 part oats. Mix all together with any mix-is (I do an additional 1 part nuts and 1/2 part chocolate chips) bake pressed into a buttered pan with parchment at 325 rotating halfway then cut into bars one cooled!
You really like to cook and bake.! I don't usually but you make me want to. I have been married 53 yrs. Of course I made everything from scratch when I had a family everyday, But one day my husband started making our evening meals. He likes it. And he really is better at cooking than I ever was. He said you cooked for the first 30 years and I will the next. Wow.! He doesn't bake.that is ok with me. I am a sweet tooth so shouldn't be eating all that. You are amazing.!! Joyce
Thank you so much for this! I just made your sourdough pancake recipe - I am a bit choosy with my recipes, but must say, this is the BEST pancake I've ever made! Thank you again!
I saw the cracker recipe on the blog a few days ago, and I've made them twice since. The are so good! Way, way better than anything store bought, and so much more wholesome for my little. Rosemary black pepper is super good, and I want to try adding roasted garlic next time. The recipe is a total win, and honestly takes like five minutes to make - they're done before the oven is even preheated.
Made your sourdough pancakes using my discard this morning AND on my newly seasoned cast iron skillets just as you showed, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! My husband thought he woke up to a angelic version on me 😅 Thank you for all your great instruction ❤
Proud to say my very first sourdough discard crackers are in the oven and they smell so good. I cannot wait to try these!! Thank you so much for this idea!!!❤
Because of the circumstances we couldn't find bread, then yeast so we started a sourdough starter. My daughter makes the bread...I care for the starter and have so far tried your sourdough skillet. All are a hit with my family and we cant wait to try more. Thank you for all your information. After I had watched other videos I was not confident at all...they were very exact and had many warnings which scared me a little. Yours was informative and more casual... I really appreciate it! 💗🐝💗
Made my starter last week and my first batch of sourdough pancakes this morning!! I threw in some peanut butter chips and they were amazing!! Thank you for all your insights, recipes and energy💜
I don't know how you do ALL you do and keep up with family life! You're a real dynamo!!! Thanks so much for all the great idea you've shared. Blessings to you all!
I've never baked a day in my life. My mom was a horrible cook and when she made bread it was horrible, so I've never been a fan of home-made bread. I'm also a curious old fart though and enjoy learning new things on RUclips. Sourdough just caught my attention. I live in Lexington, Kentucky, and I'm surrounded by the Bourbon industry. I always wondered where the Yeast to make bourbon came from... Jim Beam says he caught his famous yeast on his back porch,in Bardstown, Kentucky. It didn't make any sense to me until I started learning about Sourdough. Lightbulb Moment! That's me, now back to you. Through my journey, I imagined there must be something to do with immature sourdough starter so I started searching and I found your channel. Thank you so much for your efforts and generosity in sharing. You are an inspiration to me and I'm going to use your skillet recipe tomorrow for our family brunch. Subscribed!
I started my sourdough starter again and wow is it ever doing great. I have made sourdough bread and today I made sourdough focaccia omg so good. I think I will make the family some pancakes this weekend. Its just the best :) I also have downloaded your ebooks. Thank you!!
I just made a batch of the sourdough cookies shared in the video. They are amazing, I also melted some dark chocolate dipped the top of the cookies and gave them to the children to decorate with nuts and sprinkles. So fun and delicious! Thank you for sharing these wonderful recipes 🙏
You are just so pretty! My husband and I have six kids so I relate to a lot of what you do, but now I've moved on to being a grandma, and it is fun! Well, I didn't look so lovely when I raised my family😂, but love your channel.
I'm new to sourdough and messed up my starter. I tried to fix it, which I did, but now I have cups of discard. I'm definately going to have to try some of these recipes. Thank you!
I made your crackers today! I added nutritional yeast and omitted the herbs and OH MY were they delicious! I love the herb ones also. Thank you for sharing.
What a beautiful way to carry your baby. That child is obviously going to grow up close to you and your voice, and your love. Wonderful to see. Oh! and thanks for all the good surplus starter ideas, which was why I came here in the first place.....and yes, I had to subscribe.
My husband used to be a baker but now we both work in insurance. Working from home the last few months with the quarantine got him interested in a sourdough starter again. I showed him your sourdough recipes and have been reaping the benefits 😉. He's made the sourdough English muffins, sourdough pancakes, pizza crust and bread 😊😊 love your work Lisa!! You're superb.
Thank you! This is one of the best resources I have found for this topic! I did dry out some starter, (From Feb., 2020: not 6 years old!) before I had to stop feeding it, for flour shortage. So I will start that, again. I had originally had interest in this to avoid the diabetes causing foods.
Your amazing I was thinking in doing the sourdough ,but then I regret it because I don't like the idea of throwing it away but with this of course I'm going to do it thanks
We made the starter and cooked the waffles and they were soooo delicious, nothing to do with the normal recipe, I can’t wait to try the rest of your bread ideas. I told my mum, this lady never buys bread 😂, which is fantastic to be honest. Lots of love from Spanish living in Uk x ps. Also I’ve just started a RUclips channel as the project for this year, and your videos give me lots of support, thanks
I found that my starter didn't go anywhere when I covered it with a towel. I had to place a plastic lid on top (not secured) for it to work. We've made a lot of pancakes out of our discard. I'm looking forward to trying the Sourdough Skillet.
Hi I am new to sourdough starter thank you for the recipes because I sure don’t want to throw out the Discard flour and water I want to continue making recipes
I never have any discard - I use the scraping method so only ever have the amount that it need. I made my starter with wholemeal rye flour (25g of flour and water per day) so didn't even have discard from that as it was ready to go after 4 days when I had just enough starter to make 2 loaves. Easy.
I’m saving this video for when my sourdough starter hopefully is successful. I have studied and researched everything I could but it’s not passing the float test at all and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong 😢 hopefully I’ll get it going one day
Some should consider a grain grinder to make flour, they are rather expensive though, but a must have, good channel, Blessings in the Risen LORD Jesus Christ.
Excellent video! Thank you so much. I’ve been making sourdough and it’s making me cringe to figure out what I’m gonna do with the leftover. But, I think I’m going to be making plenty of your recipes soon. Thank you again.
Could you make a video of your essential kitchen tools/gadgets/pots/pans etc. I know you like to use cast iron skillet and instapot but I’m curious about the rest.
Can you save discard? Like if you fed it three days in a row could you save the discard from each day to use for a larger amount of pancakes? I have a mature starter if that makes any difference.
Love all this. Thank you. I’m so confused. I thought I understand it all. I’ve been nursing my starter for over 2 weeks. Started it with rye flour. Feeding it religiously with King Arthur whole wheat flour. Removing all but 50 grams and giving it 100 grams of whole wheat flour and 100 grams of filtered water. It’s doing well. I’ve been checking it with the float test. Fails. Not ready. When is it ready? When do I move it to the refrigerator? It smells so delicious. I’ve made flatbread and probably 16 dozen of the most delicious chocolate chips cookies. Can you please advise. I’m saving my wonderful discard for something delicious but I surely do not have cups and cups. I would appreciate it. I do want to make bread eventually. Many blessings to you and your family. ❤️
I love your apron (when you make the apple pie) I’m looking to make one , please let me know where you got it from or where I can find the pattern. Thanks!
I am amazed with what all do and have Daniel in the wrap. Does your back ever hurt? Do you always let him sleep in the sling?i enjoy your channel, thx. Lisa
@Haus of Crouse wearing a baby is very healthy. Properly worn, it's not hard on the mom's body. And the bonding benefits as well as the benefits for the baby's body (no flat spot on head from lying down so much, good for baby's hip flexors, ability to regulate breathing and heart rate because of proximity to mom....I could go on and on). As a mom of six, I'm sure she knows what she's doing 😉
my back hurts sometimes - but overall i love it! He's not in the wrap/sling 24/7 either. totally dependent on the day & what we're doing. he sleeps really well in the wraps though. & i usually film when he's napping
When you say "Day 1-3" are you talking about a brand new baby starter? I was given an established healthy starter. Wouldn't it still be good 8 hours after I feed it?
If you dont cary the baby or have a pregnant belly it looks like something is missing on you. You are blessed. Be fruitful and multiple. May god bless you with what your heard desires. ❤
When you say that there's not a lot of activity on day 1-3 and it therefore won't be fermented/have the sourdough benefits, do you mean the initial 3 days when starting from scratch? Or do you mean day 1-3 after any feeding, also on an already established sourdough?
I have a starter. I never discard any starter. If I am not baking, it stays in the fridge. If I have too much after making bread, I will use the rest to make banana pancakes with chocolate chips and cinnamon in them or make up a white starter from any excess to turn into something sweet the next day like scrolls or kugelhopf. You can start a starter without needing to discard anything. Just put 50g of rye flour and 50g water (or juice) in a jar and stir it once every day for five days, it should then be bubbly and ready to use.

Oooh what a great idea!
Wow, that's genius!!!
Omg!! What a great idea 🤩🤩 thanks for sharing
Megan S Thank you for the recipe. 💖
Megan S great suggestion! How long do they bake?

Honestly this is what I'm getting my starter for. I may eventually make bread, but for me these easy recipes are where it's at!
You are such a champ, you didn't skip a beat when the baby started getting fussy. 👍
Thank you so much for this! I just made your sourdough pancake recipe - I am a bit choosy with my recipes, but must say, this is the BEST pancake I've ever made! Thank you again!

Mind blown with the pizza crust I love how you make everything easy and down to earth instead of complicated like so many other recipes
Made your sourdough pancakes using my discard this morning AND on my newly seasoned cast iron skillets just as you showed, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! My husband thought he woke up to a angelic version on me 😅 Thank you for all your great instruction ❤
My first thought was “what a weird tattoo on her chest!” Then I realized there was a second human attached to her. Good times!😁
😂
Same!! LOL! Lisa, you are so so beautiful and I love that your babies are so comforted by being right there with you! Great Momma!
It’s important to have the right props to look more wholesome.
Ha-ha. I was a little startled!
My first thought (seeing the family photo) was... birth control.
Proud to say my very first sourdough discard crackers are in the oven and they smell so good. I cannot wait to try these!! Thank you so much for this idea!!!❤

WHAT?!? You haven’t thrown any starter away in Nine years?!!!!!? That’s incredible. You’re a busy chef! Wow that blows my mind.
It took me a minute to notice the baby. How precious 😍

I make several sourdough pizza crusts following your process. Then I freeze them and whenever I need one it's ready to use.
WHAT A BIG FAMILY!
That apple dessert looks scrumptious!
Awesome, thank you! New to sourdough, so this is just in time!

I just discovered your video's. Love the recipes. There is so much to learn. Greetings from the Nederlands
Another wonderful video, thanks Lisa!
Thank you for such a great video. I wish I watched it before discarding thousands of grams of sourdough starter.
I’m saving this video for when my sourdough starter hopefully is successful. I have studied and researched everything I could but it’s not passing the float test at all and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong 😢 hopefully I’ll get it going one day
If it’s bubbly and expanded, don’t worry about the float test.
Randi MacDonald does the smell matter too? I’m just scared to make the call of it being ready to bake 😬
Great video. So fun watching!
This looks great
Perfect timing. Brand new to sourdough, I know I won't toss any discards. Starting with crackers, and might be making that pumpkin cobbler MmmMmm
Thanks for sharing this great list! I love your sourdough skillet idea it is so easy, versatile and delicious!
I made the cookies and they’re DELISH
thank you!! helpful :)
So glad!
Really nice. Thanks I really can't wait to start my sourdough starter.
Such a great blog!

Could you make a video of your essential kitchen tools/gadgets/pots/pans etc. I know you like to use cast iron skillet and instapot but I’m curious about the rest.
Love this! I want to try them all! And the best part ,UT tastes good from scratch and cheaper !
Can you save discard? Like if you fed it three days in a row could you save the discard from each day to use for a larger amount of pancakes? I have a mature starter if that makes any difference.
Your eyes are so pretty… and baby is so cute 🥰
I’m dying to try Focaccia. I may need to add about 1-1.5G Yeast & some extra flour, but hey, no harm no foul.

Oh my goodness where did you get that cast iron waffle maker???? Do you have a link? Loved this! 👍
Yes, I sure do! Here is the link: amzn.to/2MizLog
@@FarmhouseonBoone ahhhhh your the best!!! Thank you so much! 🤍
Mrs. Bee Another option is eBay. I found one like Lisa’s there for less $$ and wasn’t concerned that it wasn’t brand new.
About to start my first sour dough starter... but I really don't see the benefit of throwing it out lol so this really helps
great ideas....but wouldnt the waffles or pancake taste a bit sour?
I love your apron (when you make the apple pie) I’m looking to make one , please let me know where you got it from or where I can find the pattern. Thanks!
Hi!
Yes, I did make the apron and you can find the tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/wGT5_8a2sbc/видео.html
Hi Lisa!
Would you share what brand coconut oil you use and recommend?
It’s something I’ve never used in cooking…
Thanks!!!!
I don't have a particular brand I just look for organic unrefined.

Hello, thank you for this very useful info. What about the discard that is very acidic. Can I use it too or better through it?
Yes you can use it!
@@FarmhouseonBoone I used it ones for pancakes, but they come out too sour. So I was thinking how to change that. Thanks!
Did you say the starter had to be mature for the crackers? Thanks for all the recipes. My starter is just 12 days old.
When you say "Day 1-3" are you talking about a brand new baby starter? I was given an established healthy starter. Wouldn't it still be good 8 hours after I feed it?
Is it okay to use week old, fermented refrigerated sour dough in the chips recipe?
If you dont cary the baby or have a pregnant belly it looks like something is missing on you. You are blessed.
Be fruitful and multiple. May god bless you with what your heard desires. ❤

Yum!!!
