  • This soothing, comforting Korean chicken soup recipe is made with a whole chicken and a few aromatic vegetables. You can use chicken parts (preferably bone-in and skin-on) if you like. It’s also a good alternative to samgyetang (삼계탕, ginseng chicken soup), if you don’t have ginseng.
    Full recipe: www.koreanbapsang.com/dak-gom...
    Ingredients:
    1 whole chicken, 3 - 4 pounds
    10 - 12 plump garlic cloves
    1 1-inch piece ginger, sliced
    1/2 medium onion
    2 - 3 scallion white parts
    1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
3 scallions, finely chopped to garnish
    salt and pepper to taste
    Spicy seasoning (dadaegi) -- Optional
3 tablespoons Korean red chili pepper flakes (gochugaru)
1 tablespoon soup soy sauce (guk ganjang)
    3 tablespoons chicken soup
    2 teaspoons minced garlic
    Samgyetang (Ginseng chicken soup): www.koreanbapsang.com/samgyet...

I don't know the name of the host, but she is my go-to ever since I started making Korean food. She is absolutely lovely and reminds me of my own mom. Affable personality, lovely narrative and easy-to-follow directions. I was under the impression it was so difficult to make Korean food since my mom told me to study rather than help her in the kitchen (lol). I can now make four recipes with ease thanks to her. Thank you, Korean bapsang for the confidence!! Cant wait to see what you all cook up next.

Aww hank you so much for such kind words! Deeply touching and encouraging! My mother did that too. Study! I'm happy to hear you're getting confidence, and it'll only get better with more cooking. Hugs!

I can’t wait to try this !! Now that the weather is getting chilly this seems like the perfect dish ! Oh and by the way it kind of reminds me of how my Mexican mom makes “Caldo de Pollo” but she doesn’t shred the chicken and she uses Oregano instead of ginger. But anyways can’t wait to try this ! Three thumbs up for you 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽❤️

I mentioned salt is served on the side (6:23), but you can certainly season it while cooking.

빨간 다대기 넣으면 닭곰탕이 아니라 닭개장 같은데요 ㅠ

매콤하게 드시고 싶은 분은 다대기도 넣어요. 닭계장은 만드는 법이 아주 달라요
