I'm just married with a Korean man and moved to Seoul. I'm in Seoul for 1 month now. My husband amazed I can cook Korean dishes well. He didn't know that I've got a very great teacher here. Thanks Maangchi for being such a great cooking teacher for me 🤗😘
One thing I really love about Maangchi is that she doesn't cut out the parts where she washes the food, her hands, sink, cutting board, knife etc. :) Many cooking channels don't show these parts, even though it's so important
I'm 20 and my parents are growing old right before me too quickly. My dad and I do not have a words-of-affirmation type of relationship but I know we both have a similar attitude on food. I know parents always say that their kids grow up too fast but I really get a sting on my chest too whenever I see my dad dyeing his white hair back to brown, or whenever he complains about his knees, or some other manifestation of growing old. I wish they'd stop growing old too. Parents have had a life before and beyond their children, while we on the other hand, have known them all our lives and will continue to know them for the rest of it. I just really went here for this recipe to cook for my dad and got really broody after having to confront the fact that, for a while now, I have had to look up energy-boosting/age-defying/bone-strengthening recipes for my old man. Thank you for this recipe. This is such a hearty, nourishing dish. I'm sure everyone who makes this is full of love.
this comment was so beautiful i hope it’s ok that i screen shotted it. your love is so beautifully described. i’m 26 but my dad is about to turn 50. i have so much general anxiety about aging and losing anyone close to me, i am doing the same thing that you are
I love how she shows us how she washes her ingredients and utensils, how she cuts and how she handles the chicken 😊 Most channels don't show or explain in detail, Thank you Maangchi!
Maangchi!!! I made this last night for my mom and myself. It's not summer time, but it's turning into Winter soon and she's getting over the flu and has the chills. This was so simple and affordable to make, and oh my goodness, the end results were fantastic. She loved the broth and jujube (she wanted more jujube in the soup but I told her it would make the broth brown). Not only did she love it, but she felt so much better the next day that she was able to go back to work. This was absolutely delicious and I loved it with the sweet and sour dipping sauce recipe you provided. Can't wait to try this again, this was so delicious!

ann wang, I always use a lot of garlic in my chicken soup, even in the westernized chicken noodle one. The garlic turns sweet when cooked for a long time so they also become delicious. Give it a try next time. You will be glad you did.

We had to add more rice. Our chickens that were small. It was a real hit and we devoured everything, but we didn't eat the bark.

My mom always cooked this when we were feeling under the weather when we were kids. Cooking it now 30 years later for my wife today because she’s feeling a bit crumby the last few days. Hopefully this will make her feel energized and better. Thanks Mangchi! Your videos always connect me to my childhood and you might be my moms twin. Haha! Look, sound and talk just like my mom.
your English is really good.... it makes foreigner learn about Korea easier... and your samgyetang looks really good.... i wanna taste ih haha
Dutch caption is up now thanks to our volunteer captioner!
I have forwarded a lot of videos to my mom (who is a great cook) so that she can try cooking them. This is one of the food that I miss so much! The best samgyetang I have tried was in Hongdae in a restaurant called Baek Nyeon Baekse! I can still remember that first winter I went to Seoul. My godmother asked to meet in Hongdae and we ate there. I finished the whole bowl and finished my godmother's bowl as well. It was really, really good!
What a great way to respect food!!~ i wished i tried out the recipe!
I enjoy the video. . The preparation is direct and clear. . The kitchen is clean and well organized. .and you my good lady looking great

Korean chicken soup with all of the side dishes is one of my top 2 or 3 favorite soups. It’s such a comforting meal.

아주 훌륭하신 분
영어가 쏙쏙 들려요 ㅎ
i love how manngchi doesn't waste anything.
some cooking channels just throw anything that doesn't go into the final dish
I couldn't find any ginseng around my area so I just cook without it- but it turned out just as good! My husband enjoyed it very much and Thank you Maangchi for sharing your recipe. YUM!
yes, if ginseng is not available, you can skip it. I'm happy to hear that your husband loved your chicken soup. Great!
Ginseng is a very strong herb. Not for use with children as it is too "hot." Very helpful for weak, sick, elderly people.
Thank you so much!! Getting ready to tackle some kimchi soon. I am so excited!!!!
I'm your fan from Malaysia, I will try cook this recipe soon,

One of my favorite soups next to 순대국밥. I remember eating 삼계탕 at a famous place near 광화문 palace in Seoul. They sold special black fowl chicken version. It all started for me in 대구 six years earlier. Best soup when you are sick. 망치님 감사합니다! Cant wait to cook this.
