there is something so unsettling about this episode and it has nothing to do with Aaron Carter. The way this girl told her story gave me a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach within the first 30 minutes and it only grew worse. This is a dangerous narrative to be putting out.

You’re led to believe they care for you, you can trust them, that they love you back, and care for you. I was groomed as a young teenager by someone who should have been protecting me; and nothing sexual happened for so long, when it did; I was already too far gone. I thought I was so special, that he cared for me, he would never hurt me, that it’s not weird; it’s love. Love has no boundaries. So many irrational thoughts I wasn’t old enough to process. When it did become sexual, I had already believed he loved me, that it was ok because he loved me, that we would be together forever. Nothing, or no one could convince me otherwise. I wanted to see him, I fought to see him, even though he had a whole ass family with kids, close to my age! It’s a very sick thing to do to someone. I’m just trying to explain, that yes she made poor decisions, but maybe why she would have made them. I went through it, and I was blamed a lot for my part in what took place. And, it just hurts because people don’t understand how fucked up you are, and how warped your line of thinking really is after being groomed by someone. I still have to tell myself a lot; well over 20 years later that wasn’t my fault. That I was a victim of this person. Because, I still sometimes feel I’m to blame for a lot of it. Releasing this on the same day as Aaron’s sisters death is cruel as hell. She was not underage and Aaron made sure of that. He also never forced her to do anything. He was very unwell and wasn’t a great person but this feels exploitative and like an absolute reach.

As someone who used to hang with celebrities and was also a groupie at 18, this episode is so weird to me. Everything she said, he didn’t groom her. She just wanted to be with him - she was a big fan, of course you’re gonna want to hang around him. You were a consenting adult… I don’t understand how we draw the line at 18 but at the same time at 18 you’re a child now?
Grooming is different for everyone; its more about the effect and lasting damage or change inflicted on the victim and what they have to cope with going forward. You can be groomed even after the age of 18 - you just have to be in a vulnerable or overly trusting/naïve state. Mentally ill or disabled people can be be groomed even as legal adults, and things like loss etc can also contribute to a weakened head space. It's really not up to our perception, it's her experience

This is so icky. Aaron lived in my town the last few years of his life and I saw him out and about frequently with the mother of his son. She speaks about how so many people took advantage of Aaron. I just find it hard to believe that she didn't know what he meant by him saying "bring rubbers" when she was 20. If she truly didn't know, then what was she expecting to do over there? Especially after the 1st time. Then the fact that she mentions that she linked up w/ him again to get free concert tickets is just so weird imo even after you know how he is. And I'm also confused about the mention of sexual assault in the beginning but from what I understood from what she said, he didn't sexually assault her? Idk I might be wrong about that. 10 years she could have told her story, but she chose to after the man dies. All for everyone sharing their story, but the title doesn't really fit for what she's trying to explain. She's telling us about her time with Aaron, that seems like any other fangirl/groupie story who was starstruck, and naive. Everyone experiences things, grows up, matures and realizes their mistakes. There's no accountability for her actions, and how they could have enabled what transpired. I notice multiple instances in the story where it's so contradicting, I forgot what she was trying to say at one point.
