So dope! Great live performance! I dig the melody, and was blown away when the beat dropped and you were finger drumming away with multiple fingers in 16th notes! Way to go bro!
Hey Ruben! I know you're super busy with all your music related gigs, but I was wondering if you could post a tutorial sometime on how to set up to record like you're doing here. I see you just switching instruments and recording into clip slots that automatically end and start looping, and everything looks like it's all set up and ready to go as you switch instruments. I just purchased a Songmaker Kit, and I'm having trouble figuring out the workflow to make things seamless like you do it. Thanks bro!
So, actually in this video I'm using the LOOPER device in Ableton Live. Not clip slots, though theoretically you might be able to do it that way. The yellow buttons on my center Lightpad Block are arming/disarming my tracks, and the red buttons are triggering the loopers to record. Because Ableton is not yet MPE compatible I had to do some setup to be able to properly use MPE virtual instruments like Equator. Will look into potentially doing some tutorial videos. Thanks for watching!
MPE is a big deal, having 16 channels of midi information per note gives essentially 16 times more space for expression. With instruments like the SWARM models on the roli noise app you can get hyper-realistic sounds for things like game sound tracks and film.
Very nice rhythms! I recently got a lightpad and it's awesome, I just have a problem in the midi mmc setup with the live and loop block 'cause I can't make them sync with my DAW (Cubase LE 9). Any idea what could be happening?
Thank you! Not sure, because I don't use Cubase. My suggestion would be to use MIDI CC mode in ROLI Dashboard to customize the buttons on your loop block so they can be assigned to whatever you want. You can save modes for different songs/purposes etc.
Thanks! In Dashboard I set up that Lightpad to send on a specific MIDI channel. In Ableton, the FX plugin only listens to that MIDI channel (so that it doesn't react when im playing drums or the seaboard etc.). The looping is just done through MIDI mapping to the LOOPER device.
Thanks for the sub! 👊 ROLI Blocks are very versatile MIDI controllers, there's a number of videos on ROLI's channel of Blocks demos, some of which I made.

@@RubenDax I was just about to request the same. Love the workflow, if you have a video tutorial that'd be super cool.
Fucking bad shit dude, nice
Could you make a video on the best sounds or sound that you enjoy from equator and cypher 2 and strobe 2?

Couldn't agree more.
( I think you meant "SWAM" audiomodeling.com/ )

Yowza!
Great performance! How did you configure the central light block to behave half as an effect and half as a looper? Thanks

How are you switching the instruments the seaboard is playing!? Ae you using the lightpad as a navigation device for ableton?
Yep I'm using the top row of the middle lightpad to activate / deactivate different virtual instruments.
why does this sound like it's from Celeste? Am I the only one who thinks this?
What's Celeste?
Oh! Celeste is a 2D videogame, about a girl climbing a mountain. I love its music and art style, and I highly recommend it
In notice everybody use this same dated beat
You saying my beats are dated?
Ohhhhh that’s fire 🔥🔥🔥 looking to get some of these one day. Definitely subbing 🥰🙌🏾

Ruben Dax yes, I saw!! You’re dope ❤️❤️❤️
