- This is an abandoned item in Japan as it is powered by a Nicd battery system. Most power tools today are powered by lithium battery system. This drill is still working well, expect the dead battery. In this video, I converted Nicd battery to lithium ion battery and also increased the battery capacity. New lithium batteries cannot be charged with the original charger. I also changed Nicd charger to a lithium charger too.
The new battery pack
- 1 BMS 3S40A 12.6V
- 6 Lithium batteries 5C 3.7V 2500mAh
- Voltage 12.6V
- Capacity 5Ah
*Note this model cannot run with BMS 3S20A
I hope you find this video useful and enjoy!
I am happy to receive feedback, suggestions to improve myself.
!!! I'm sorry for the mistake if I did this video !!!
Thank you very much for your likes, comments and subscribe!
Have a nice day

thanks for the tip on the LED indicator on the charging block. I liked that you even updated the voltage/amperage data on the stickers !!! That being responsible for the next person who needs to work on it or battery. Way to go !!!
Making use of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxcJ22tnHH9l1vjdIdEIG27iOG55P7LXI8 reconditioning plan, I just saved 2 auto batteries from being completely junked. The guides were very simple to follow. I wish I would have found this years ago! You may use the guide to recondition any battery type
Yes, it is.
I’m a part of my schools theatre club, and I’ve come to learn that drills and impacts are an essential, it’s fun to see how they work form the inside, and how you bring them back to life.

*This battery reconditioning program exceeded my presumptions. It worked on any drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries, **batery.repair** and any camera battery. The steps are simple and the act itself is exciting to do. No matter what type of battery you`ve got, it is sure to function again!*
Ahh, my favourite electronics job :) Thank You dear Sir!
Ah, the famous "Chisel Metohd" back in action.....
Fantastic job!!
Awesome! would love to have a tour of your workshop!
Amazing vídeo!
Love the charger rebuild.
he even showed how to replace the LED indicator. Thats really helpful for me.
Your ace at building them battery packs nice one :-)
Excellent, this work is not exhausting, that I have a desire to fix things. No, I am lacking after tools such as a battery welder. You work is good and fruitful. ⚒️🛠️🔧
Fantastic as always
I think it's truly awesome that he creates new & accurate labels for everything when he's done...
Okay, thank you for suggestion!
Great work
Amazing job as usual, you inspire me to keep working on new videos myself. It is hard sometimes to keep going!
Amazing presentation thanks
Amzing, you are the king of battray 😁🙏
Great job, boss👍

Amazing and beautiful video ❤️
Awesome sir
I was waiting for a vid like this! So hard to get the concept after half a million clips on the very subject. 😂😂😂
I would love to hear some lowfi beats.
But I allways enjoy the videos, man
cheers from Brazil!
It was wonderful good job continue this all the best
At this rate probably you will 3D print the battery cases.Very nice as always.
Excelente!

Nice job! Like 👍
Excellent job brother ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ok , great job. ;)
Thanks in advance, my master
Great sir
@ Gear Show Add capacitor to output (paralel connection) in order to prevent those problems. 16-20V with 500-1000μF should be enough.
Will it discharge the battery over time?
@@jeppekristensen5589 no, DC current does not flow through a capacitor. It is just used as a store of energy, like a mini battery which is charged by the main one, only this one is capable of releasing much more current at once.
nice video
Respect for Labor
Nice job mean
Parabéns. Mais um grande trabalho realizado.

Thanks 👍👍
thank you my master, nice work, I have a little question for you, you made another Card application instead of the defective charger and where did you get the card you put LED light on or what card is it?
Good friend you are Great
Well done. I have 5 Makita drills for you to convert.
So how much did all this cost minus labor cost? Seems like it'd be around the same amount as just replacing the old drills with new lithium set.
I did something similar but had some issues
my drill is 9v 1.4a (that's the values written on the old battery)
I change it with something custom 3s2p LI-ION battery pack with 3s 40A BMS
but on heavy load it suddenly stops and I do not know why
measuring the voltage while this happens I was that it goes under 7 volts before it stops
maybe that's an issue? maybe I should do a bigger battery like 4s or 4s2p with a voltage regulator
bottom line is not that simple for all drill models
Hi
I am very impressed with your works, very well done and accurate !!
can I ask you a question?
i am going to do a similar thing with a 12v powered Black and Decker but i don't have the original charger, how can i charge the battery?
, Saludos ,gran trabajo.
Good good 👍 👍👍
Well done 👍👍👍. Thanks for sharing
I would love to see how you create the replacement stickers
Me too !!!
Ok, I assembled everything correctly: 4 Lithium cells INR18650 25 and, a 40A 4S BMS, I modified the charger with a suitable CCCV module, but the drill does not start, it only emits a slight noise but not part, to the heads of the battery pack when I press the Drill button Is there a strong voltage drop ..... suggestions?
I think the charger terminals will not work for long. They need to be spring steel like the originals.
i got the UT89X multi-meter. its a great meter !!!
Is the charger a common 12V switch mode power supply?
I'm thinking of shuffling around the NiCad cells in my two old battery packs to hopefully have one good battery.
do you sell the drills that you fix if so where can i buy them
I'm always impressed by your label making skills. Which printer do you use to print them? That would be very useful for me.
Keep doing an amazing job, sir!
I came for the same question
The bms of 20 does not allow the inrush of the motor, it can be solved by connecting a non-polarized capacitor on the motor terminals of approx 20nf 25v.
unbelievable
Very good! Tell us, how do u print these stickers? make a video pls
Isn't the charger only meant to charge original cells such as nimh or nicad rechargeable not li ion cells? Very impressive conversion I enjoyed watching and learning
OMG lol The size of that GIANT cartoon mallet at 1.12. Looney Tunes eat your heart out.
Seriously though, another great video.
Interesting, I have an old 14.4V (brand unknown) and I would like to convert it to lithium ..... I saw your video where you use in original chargers, have you encountered problems? What calculations (in a simple way) should you do for a balance of the whole system (BMS Ampere, charge current, charge voltage, etc.)? Thank you, I hope you answer
Lithium battery can't charge with Nicad charger. I make a video for user to share their experience.
Ele e um profissional
Fantastic! Should you always try and use the highest amp BMS that you can fit in the battery box for best performance? Thanks for your videos.
I would say yes considering two things : drills often use high drain motor and you need to make sure also the cells can stand high discharge drain. The BMS basically cuts the current to protect the cells from over discharging.
@@Denis-vk4vg Exactly the answer I needed. Thank you, sir!
@@getyourkicksagain you're welcome, glad I could bring my contribution.
Where did you buy the Lithium Charger board?? Thanks!!
Great work 👍. Kindly show us how you make sticker labels.
Bravo i have no words
La BMS protege de sobre descarga?
I wish I was as good as you
Please publish link for the electronics that you are using
Very easy. Can you repair panasonic battery 28.8v ?
Can you use 6 batteries without the BMS board??
I want to do the same with a craftsman 14.4v drill and charger. Which bsm and charger would be the best?
You can use BMS 4S40A, like I did in this video ruclips.net/video/JTZoWaVOZCs/видео.html
Looks like a modern Ryobi battery will fit. But those are 18v...
Super🇮🇳👍👍 Kuki
Sir,Can i ask question? Are you connecting battery 6pcs litium in series? or parallel.More power ,Thanks.
He connects 3 pairs of batteries in parallel for double capacity (beginning at 2:29) and then he connects his 3 pairs in series to add the voltages (beginning at 3:00).
Plz, make a video of change brush motor with brushless motor.👍🏽👍🏽
Do you have a model number for this charger board please
From where I get this charger kit
You could use a charger with a voltage regulator.
regulating the voltage that I need

Great video, I have learned a lot from them, thank you, but I'm still confused about a few things, please can you help me?, what's really the 5c means on any battery or more general, what 1c stands for and equal to Ah, also the capacity of the bms has to be hire then the total capacity of the battery pack(I meant discharge rate), thank you
5C means if you have 2500mAh or 2.5Ah capacity, then maximum current that cell can give is 5 x 2.5 = 12.5A , practically cell can give more current but can easy overheat , that's why he make two cell in parallels 12.5A + 12.5A max 25A and BMS is 20A to protect cell , but in different battery he use 40A BMS which cant protect battery and battery work but will overheat easy and damage whole pack. 1C for battery 2500mAh its maximum 2.5A discharge current for that cell , also you can see C1 or C10 or C20 this mean different thing I can explain if some one interested?
@@harasti I am very much, please continue, and thank you for all the info
@@harasti more info pls....tq
some hot glue on that diy connector would be nice jus to hold them in place.
2:33 may I know what do you use?
Netflix: Is anybody still watching?
Somebody's daughter: *0:36*
I asume that this guestion have been asked million times but what camera would be good for making this kind of videos?

Google translate gives: "Scissors for hard-to-reach places" (a reference to Dr. Dew) .
Those batteries are only rated for 10A discharge. Two in parallel gives 20A, so 40A BMS is too much for those batteries; they will heat up and have reduced lifetime. Better to buy lithium cells rated for high discharge, maybe 20-30A for this use case.
teach us to make that support to solder that prevents us from breathing those fumes
Please do a video about making stickers for the tools
I don't know why he is not answering our questions but i want the same video
You can purchase "sticker paper" from a store such as Amazon and then use a word processor to add text and company logos and then fill the empty spaces with an appropriate color such as black for the Ryobi labels. RUclips has many videos on how to make stickers.
after seeing that video I doesn’t try to but coreless drill.
Becase I am only trying work but I am not profetional so Battery may be down if I not use.
I cann't use drill everyday because I read in class 9.. So I will buy corded drill frommy Pocket money.
My hobby is collection of tools... From class 5...😇
