I actually read somewhere that the old Chinese mobile version of Terraria had microtransactions that offered death prevention, vanity items and an item that could be combined with certain other items that are dropped from Pre-Hardmode bosses to unlock the 10th hotbar slot.
And that sounds tame in comparison to this.

I like how they say that the crystal special bundle is at a discount, but if you scale up the size you find that the bundle is 9 cents more.

I think in the old Chinese version it was made to be pay to play, or more like a service/subscription, and more online based. Not sure if the new version there is, but I'm still researching it.
As a person who plays EA games this is totally accurate
I did some math and got that it would take 1.5 billion dollars to reduce your time to fully recharge your mana from 18 hours to only 9

They would sell you 90 or 75 or any odd number so you have some leftover, but not enough to buy anything that's useful.

At least FFXIV doesnt make you spend anything to play through the entire base story. While some features are barred behind the subscription, you dont need them to progress.
