I’m the opposite. My base coat is all I use. 😜. Never put a coat on top of it but seems to work

I never got to use base coat . i just apply the wax itself. its grippy enough .. what am i missing ?
It’s definitely grippy enough without a basecoat but it will smudge easily without it. Would highly recommend you use a basecoat next time as it forms a strong foundation so the bumps last long 🤙🏽
Should I still use the base coat even if i am in a little bit of a colder area
Good question! It probably won’t matter as much but I definitely think it’s still important if you want that firm base coast and bumps

So stoked you enjoyed it! It was already used. They’re way easier to use when there’s less wax. I’ve never cut it in half but wouldn’t be a bad idea 😂🙌🏽

Ok I have a weird way but it gets the most perfect bumps ever. So you put the wax in a hot place for like 5 mins (I use my armpits) then when the wax is warmed get your board and put it in Aircon wax your board in there because the hot wax and cold air will work wondersand slowly go around it ( the wax has to be a circle cut in half) do that until you run out of wax then go and surf, some of the bumps will come off that's ok keep waxing and eventually you will get layers and then your set and have the most perfect bumps it take a while but I think it's so worth it (please excuse any spelling mistakes as this is hand written).
Love that John! Thank you so much for sharing. That hot/cold tip is so good. If it’s a hot day, I’ll spray my board with water to cool it off then start waxing it so it doesn’t smudge. Good stuff mate! I’m sure heaps of people will find that useful 🙌🏽

Does this apply for softtops too? I don’t surf Hardboards yet.
Nah softops are too soft to get a proper wax job! Just do some circles. They’re be grippy as with a bit of wax 👌🏽🔥

Hi again just wanted to know what sex wax should be my base coat like always the blue one or change around when the water temperature change, because with the wax suggest what water temperature it is for I don't have a thermometer and the beach I go to always is cold I don't think I ever been to a beach that is mid-warm always cold so I'm just curious which wax I should use as a base coat.

Then you’re sweet! Like anywhere with 25-30C+ water you’d just use the firmest wax
