- Welcome back to 'Pro Tips'! Once again I've created this Thursday content to help answer all the incredible questions. Whether you've surfed once or your a 60 Y/O everyday wetty wearer; this episode will hopefully teach you something you already didn't know. A lot of these little wax tricks I learnt was from my coach and surfing legend Mike Parsons, so a big shoutout to him. Enjoy and let me know how it goes.

Loving the content!! Sure you can find this information on tutorials, but what sets the difference is that you are actually getting advice from someone who is a professional surfer, and I think that makes all of this tips more credible, when it comes from someone who actually makes a living out of what they are telling you to do. Excellent video which I will pass along to the active surfers in my family.. Back in my day there was just one wax (beeswax) to be had and we put it on in circles all over our long boards. That was in Northern California before wet suits. Way cold!!!

Nice tips, thanks, still needing to lose a bunch of weight for surfing, but hopefully this fall I'll be out there again! Oh one thing I learned about surf wax, is don't leave it on your car seat during the hot summer😂😂😂

Ok, I'll date myself here....I remember when Mr. Zog's Sex Wax first came out in 72! We had been using Gulf Wax Paraffin, like you use for sealing jars of jelly when canning, on our surfboards and skimboards (round plywood clunkers, not what a skimboard has become!) We would have to drive about 30 miles to Yancy Spencer's "Innerlight Surf Shop" in Gulf Breeze FL. to buy it. RIP Yancy! I'm SO glad it's still around!
Zog's was invented by an engineer i worked with a little later than that. I remember their quonset hut shop running in 1976. Right next door sharing a wall was Santa Barbara Skateboards. Goleta engineered!

Lakey have you considered using wax made of beeswax instead of paraffin? I produce surf wax out of beeswax and the results are great. And of course more environmentally friendly.

I got every time rashes when using Fu wax. Pity because I like its stickiness. I swear for Sexwax too. I love the tip with putting some wax on your feet, definitely useful, I go and gonna try it :-)

This works so much better with sex wax than with sticky bumps basecoat. For some reason the sticky bumps “rounds out” way easier compared to the nice edge on the sex wax puck.
I like to wax the top of my board to make it look like I can do airs :)

Excellent Lakey I really learned a lot and how you achieved that technique in the resulting pattern and the bumps and all that stuff I never did that back in the day nobody ever did that and now your tutorial is excellent. Thank you so much and also one thing is that is that you’re using the quick humps which is the better sex wax the original, which I guess is still out there I don’t like it . 😮🤔☝🏻😃🤙🏼

Personally, I’ve never tried one. A lot of the air guys love them though.

good stuff thanks! But the super stick wax is not hairy people friendly my friend gave me some stickey bumps punt wax maannnn strieght de haired me and stayed on my knees for 3 days hahaha Go Pony tail! 100%

ps- also, i did not switch to sticky bumps because i liked it more than zoggs, but because my younger step brother, was using it while trying to surf like slater, machado, and dorian in the very 90s trend, while i personally was then and will forever by stuck in the 1980s, happily. in fact, i actually prefer the old original 80s formula (which some of us would actually chew on, does anyone remember that trend? who was around to chew on sex wax in the 80s, raise your hand :) i was all about coconut or orange. anyway, old formula, go figure, being the aged out cranky old 1980s encino man that i am :) and it was cost effective to simply use the same as him at the time. now i would buy the old formula, if it was not rare and there was not a premium on it. anyway, im outtie five minus three thousie :)

If the FU wax is so good, why not just use it as a top coat instead of a "top" top coat?
it smudges super quick so if you use it as a top coat you're prob going to need to re-wax your board every week haha

people are having fun playing gaslight games with my wax, when i buy purple, leave it in the car, and end up with them being replaced by green in the car, (this is after having my purchased (at channel islands in sb) white sex wax comb being replaced with a clear sticky bumps comb at some point. because of these wax games, im having terrible wax jobs coming off the board. perhaps the goleta sb crew does not want me to use sex wax (maybe i offended someone or someones son or nephew or some friend or family member connected to the company, by my anti homo male community mind hive stance, nor feel like being played as 'the one' to have a bunch of 'boys' peering over and into my phone so they dont have to actually live and experience their lives and invest time to figure things out for themselves, but instead can ride on virtual coat tails (what would these 'kids' do without phones? do you think they could even function? as it is they complain about mental health issues yet they dont see a correlation. anyway, sex wax is what i used since starting surfing back in 1982/83/84 until switching to sticky bumps in the mid 1990s. perhaps the goleta gouls want to see if i notice when people mess with the stock wax and accessories in the car, as they do with food, cleaning wipes, and everything else. did you ever have people gaslighting you with wax and wax comb switch and other stupid games? i mean, i know you are from this area, but i was also born in the state and in these waters all along this coastline decades before a lot of these kids were even born, and on many days where even the 'old guys' were at work or wherever, while me and my brother were in the water. daily. so its not as if i am a grom that needs hazing. anyway, its good to have reference on your wax choices since you have already spent so much professional time sorting that out.
