  • Ok....I had a really nasty clunking sound when going over bumps ( not turning) so I decided to fit new FARB bushes...Yes I should have gone for Poly ones, but I just wanted it sorted.

I fitted the Powerflex bushes. I don't have much faith in modern rubber. I used the same spanner (as recommended by somebody on the AOC forum) but the spanner wouldn't fit on every bolt so I had to use whatever sockets would fit. I found the gearbox side a bit more difficult because there was less room to get my tools in.

Another way to do it is leave the old bush in there and put a small thin suitable sized rubber pad underneath the old bush and screw it back down, this should compress the old bush around the bar a lot tighter, even tighter than a new one.

Did you remove the back bolt after, seems to be alot of movement in the clamp?
also would it be any easier to remove drop link first as i have to renew this anyway .thks

MrNig1 Hi, no the back bolt shouldnt need fully removing just loosened. If you took that off it will be very hard to refit it due to space and clearance.
The droplink can stay attached, but if you are replacing that anyways, it matters not.

Hi, did you leave both drop links attached when you did this job?

Thanks for your reply, I'll try that. I'm hoping the bolts dont shear though, i have soaked them from underneath, they look rusty, i might try heat as a back up also from underneath
