After watching this series again, I don't understand why they just didn't take the 11 day journey to talk to the regions king, they made it sound like it would take 11 days real time. Neal could have just told them after 11 days they get there and roll for random encounters along the way. Boom done, ask for an audience with the King, ask to clear the crypts. A 22 day trip in a dnd game means literally nothing except for a chance at random encounters
Geoff doesn't come off as a very smart man, so he should really stop shitting all over Abigael like that. Sure, Abigael comes up with a lot of silly ideas, but she comes up with some good ones from time to time as well. In stark contrast, Geoff's ideas are almost always incredibly stupid and brute force. All in all though, the party really does miss too many of the clues Neal throws their way.
At leas he knows what the hell is going on. Gen is constantly oblivious to her surroundings and half of her stupid errors would be fixed if she just paid attention.
Hallelujah! Their going along with their last resort, as expected, but at least something's happening. The debate wasn't entirely unenjoyable, but it gets a bit testy on the patience to hear them fail at strategizing. When Vinnie first spoke with the guard and was told about the burial group gone missing, he should've offered his blade to this quest there and then. If he had managed to voice it heroically and kept the comedic factor to a minimum, Neal might've well decided the guards would be persuaded by it. A shot in the dark, but still. Going invisible and rushing through into the crypt would also have been preferable to outright assaulting the guards. They would've had to deal with them afterwards, but as has been pointed out, they'll have a silver dragon with them then. Who'd surely be able to resolve the situation.
Neal doesn't decide. The dice do. And that's part of the problem. Neal is making decisions based on his idea of what should happen, instead of ACTUALLY PLAYING D&D AND ROLLING FOR IT.
Sometimes I really feel sorry for Neal. Then again, he should know by now what happens when you present Geoff with a problem where the easy obvious solution is "kill everybody".
It's been very entertaining watching up to this point, but I don't know if it's worth continuing. Abigail can be foolish yet gets shutdown whenever she has a good idea, Jeff is absurdly condescending to Gen to the point that it's hard to watch, JP plays both Tudagub and Banon as the exact same annoying character. Just about every plan degenerates into "we kill them". It's been 21 weeks, they should be better.
Entertaining yes, Gen has bought this attention on herself by a lot of the stupid shit she has done/said and does/says. Yes it is sad that because of that her good ideas get shut down as well. Not given the opportunity to ripen. Someone has to take the parties edge off that she creates by being as she is. Geoff has chosen to be this asshole who shoots her down when her "Barby Town" fantasies are woven. It's better this way than having a party that is constantly on edge because of that. Also it would be an unsatisfying RP that she would create if not limited by someone. Her logic does not make sense many a times, it's unreal even in a game world geez Both are at fault, Geoff is over aggressive at times with his remarks and Gen blind to logic. She creates "asshole Geoff" if it was not him, someone els would take up the mantle, prolly JP. As long as she speaks before thinking, it will stay like this to varying degree. JP is similar to Tudagub, but being Bannon hes much more "evil". In my eyes neither of those characters is annoying. They spice things up which is fun. Yeah the plans are pretty much "KILL KILL KILL FOR THE BLOOD GOD!", in my eyes they could do a leader in the party. Someone who unifies their plans, makes the final call so to speak. Usually it is Geoff, but he does it as he wishes. One can see the chaos this and last episode brought significantly because of that. Geoff kinda shut off after his "KILL!!" plan did not get approved by all. But maybe it's more fun this way heh Yeah and one would think that after 21 weeks of watching this show you would know hes name is Geoff not Jeff.
I know him as iNcontrol first, Vincent second, Geoff Jeff Jheff Gif Gef last I suppose. Also I have continued watching, and I'm happy to say that the party does get much better over time.
Literally this episode ... was pure comedy gold! It was freaking awesome ... hilarious ideas, absolute face palm failing, and the awkward moment at the end with the guards as the cherry on top. JUST TO GOOD!!! Love you guys!!
There are different sizes for bags of holding. The lowest has 30 cubic feet. If it were a cube, that'd be a bit more than 3 feet per side. Considering a longbow is about 6 feet long, I think that it was pretty fair.
Ok. Find a dead body (or dig one up) fairly fresh. Cut it up, but some magical symbols etc. Wait for the guard shift when they all meet up outside. Cast your group invis and without armor have the two guys carry the body in with the thief along. Drop the body at the inner door, guys leave, thief throws voice and does evil stuff. Invis wears off and to the guards this body just appeared outside a barred door when they go back to investigate. Then ask mayor for dungeon cleaning job :).
Aren't these guys supposed to be somewhat good? I mean Vincent tries to be the honorable noble type guy, but then something inconvenient like making a journey to ask for permission into a crypt /for/ noble people shows up, so he decides that the best course of action is to just straight up murder some guys who are just doing their jobs. I mean, I get it, they're playing a game, but when the thief and one time assassin is showing more concern for human life than a noble prince something is going wrong.
+Mr Bones They are supposed to be somewhat good, but they don't think of NPC as people, so they constantly murder innocent people that inconvenience them which makes them very evil.
The best idea would be to get a letter stating that they are NOT permitted entry from each of the surrounding cities, then have abigail forge the letters, making it look like they are permitted entry by decree of several cities.
Soooooo, these guys go on 2 month trips to shop in a different town, but can't spend ~23 days trying to get permission to clear the crypt without murdering a bunch of honor guards.
Hells yea, I believe they could technically apply to fear aura to someone and then make that person invisible. Guards would be tripping balls, especially when the invisible person opens the barred door. Then the rest of the party just walks in invisible. In that chaos nobody would notice some additional clattering.
Agreed, seemed like a good plan, killing a bunch of honorable guards for a good dragon seems to not make sense but will likely be more fun to watch then a reasonable plan.
Yes, the capitol they sailed RIGHT PAST ON THEIR WAY HERE and would need to take a month journey JUST TO ASK if they could enter the forbidden crypt. Good rollplaying.
One thing - I've made several comments about how evil this party has gotten but at least in this case I think Neal kind of put them in a situation here that was bound to come to random slaughter. I mean I guess there probably was *some* way to avoid killing the guards but nothing that seems particularly easy to figure out. Other than trying to talk to the captain - and I don't see why he'd let them in any more than a random guard would.
You might be addicted to roll play when you miss the live stream so you can watch a video every night of the week as soon as its uploaded. Oh well GIMME GIMME
I didn't say that is a great idea but at least she is saying some idea geoff at some point pretty much said do as you wish I'm just going to attack when things go wrong. I think the best idea could have been to start a very large fire which would cause a panic and use that time to go invisible and sneak into it.
Calling it now: they defeat the 4 guards in time before the reinforcements come, get inside, MAYBE survive whatever is inside, come back.... and there will be a giant stone dor, barred from the outside waiting for them. Time to die of thirst XD
I'm still waiting for Abby's first good idea. "Hi we've been sent by this royal person who's name i wont be able to answer when asked, and based on this letter with paper we don't have, we should be allowed entry. Stand aside please." Oh yeah tons of great ideas. You can say Geoff picks on her, but don't give her credit when there is none.
Yeah sometimes I wonder... Using 2nd edition in the first place, I mean I own the 2nd edition books but I switched to 3rd as soon as it came out 20 years ago. It's just *better* and on top of that all the personal house rules. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it hurts, but overall I think regular AD&D would be better for new players especially.
Well all their plans were bad. But they never scouted the camp. They can kill the 4 or 6 at the entrance, fight their way through the catacombs to get the ring but then when they leave they have to fight their way out. It's a bad idea as well. But hey, I guess alignment never is an issue for them.
Wow, i skipped to week 21 from week 3 and the game is so much better now. Everyone happy and into it. In the first week the whole mood is just awkward.
They could have just dealt nonlethal damage. Regular guards can't do much to them at this point. I don't think they know that that rule exists, though...
I'm kind of in agreement with some of the commentators. Why didn't they just ask the guards there if they could go in an clear it out? I'm sure there'd be a guard captain at their camp or something. xD
"Well we were ordered to keep the doors closed and not let anyone in for over 100 years, but these guys want to help so I guess fuck that." People should stop suggesting this.
I wonder how often Neil wonders when they will finally listen to what he says and take the easy and sneaky way he proposed to them ( *coff balcony *coff)
Couldn't they have just paid a drifter to shout for help to lure the knights away? I mean I guess they're knights, not town guards, so they have no real reason to come to somebody who's calling them, but it was worth a shot.
So the kingdoms could continue burying they "great kings"? Honestly, i think Geoff was being an ass for refusing to go to tide's end just because the lord/king 'might' say no. A month in RP is like an hour tops, depending on the amount of stuff they do there, maybe as much as 15 minutes. And if they had gotten a yes, which is ALSO a valid scenario as any king of ambition would WANT to be buried there, they would not have to add more to their terrible reputation.
A brilliant Silver Dragon who has asked them onto this mission is watching the whole planning and scenario and doesn't add ANYTHING to the conversation or planning. A good DM role plays that better. Not GIVING the answer, but certainly throwing out possibilities. *sigh*
I just don't get why they didn't go with Bregors plan or just walk up to the guards and offer to remove whatever was in the crypt. Vincent was just being a naysayer complaining about every plan they came up with but he never gave an alternative. Wish Bregor would've just walked off with Abigael to try and get permission to clear the crypt would've been more entertaining then them just brute forcing their way through.
Caa129 becauses vincents plan from the start was to kill the guards regardless of any other plans, that's why he sabotaged the other plan about lying to the guards that they were there to cleanse it. he said their was a dragon in the crypt,.. as if that was believable, i'd say like spirits or a wraith was down there..but no, a dragon decided one day to squeeze into a tight doorway and hang out with dead kings, while it waited to starve to death, because, dragons have to eat. vincent is just an exp hog and can't go without killing something. :(
I wish to god Neal would read the item descriptions before saying a bag of holding can't even hold a simple bow. I swear to god he just cuts the legs out from under the players whenever he possibly can. BAGS OF HOLDING HOLD UP TO 250 CUBIC FEET! Yet you can't put a bow in there? I would be so frustrated if he was my DM, don't know how they live with him. He holds up his hands as though the opening of a bag of holding is like 5 inches wide.... what the hell...?

Brew512 Really? His stupid ideas suggests he doesn't.
***** Quiet, Gen fanboy. Crawl back to your basement and drink your mountain dew.
Brew512 No. Nice childish retort....
Hallelujah! Their going along with their last resort, as expected, but at least something's happening.

Fair enough.

Oh god, Neals face during the whole argument. A face of despair.

Greatest episode yet. I laughed until I hurt. Thank you all so much.
Soooooo, these guys go on 2 month trips to shop in a different town, but can't spend ~23 days trying to get permission to clear the crypt without murdering a bunch of honor guards.
I'm totally looking forward to more rollplay and the new rollplay this Saturday.
I swear I had an aneurysm watching this... I don't think I can bear to watch any longer
This was the single funniest episode I've ever seen
Thanks JP for all these quick upload
The guards aren't going to let a random group of people into a crypt, they're kind of there to stop that kind of thing from happening.
Yes, the capitol they sailed RIGHT PAST ON THEIR WAY HERE and would need to take a month journey JUST TO ASK if they could enter the forbidden crypt. Good rollplaying.
Oh my god poor neil, ahahaha, his face.
vincent shut down abi everytime yet the only thing he comes up with is bully my way in if it doesn`t work he kill them
One thing - I've made several comments about how evil this party has gotten but at least in this case I think Neal kind of put them in a situation here that was bound to come to random slaughter. You might be addicted to roll play when you miss the live stream so you can watch a video every night of the week as soon as its uploaded. Oh well GIMME GIMME
every rollplay party is sooner or later at this point where great plans und brilliant ideas amass :)
Its just so hilarious how they've spent all the time trying to get into their first dungeon just so comical XD
I didn't say that is a great idea but at least she is saying some idea geoff at some point pretty much said do as you wish I'm just going to attack when things go wrong. I think the best idea could have been to start a very large fire which would cause a panic and use that time to go invisible and sneak into it.
the show is set on a timer... it uploads the same time every night unless jp forgets to greenlight it
Calling it now: they defeat the 4 guards in time before the reinforcements come, get inside, MAYBE survive whatever is inside, come back.... and there will be a giant stone dor, barred from the outside waiting for them. Time to die of thirst XD
13:30 That .gif slowly made me laugh, it built until I was crying.
PS. I feel sorry for Neal having to DM this group
that would have made more sense. I haven't caught all the way up, but i can only assume the way they handled this mission will come back to bite them.
I'm still waiting for Abby's first good idea. "Hi we've been sent by this royal person who's name i wont be able to answer when asked, and based on this letter with paper we don't have, we should be allowed entry. Stand aside please." They tried the invisible thing. The guards can hear their armor clanking past.
why did he say "there was a dragon", they'd know so easily if there was a dragon
I can't believe that Gen has the best idea and Geoff completely shuts her down.
No, she wants to go get permission to cleanse the tomb. Geoff didn't even want them to try.
Well all their plans were bad. But they never scouted the camp. They can kill the 4 or 6 at the entrance, fight their way through the catacombs to get the ring but then when they leave they have to fight their way out.
It's a bad idea as well.
But hey, I guess alignment never is an issue for them.
"Yeah, That Geoff guy is even LONGER than the Longborns."
idc about strategy or no strategy, the scene in the end is so funny ^^
Wow, i skipped to week 21 from week 3 and the game is so much better now. Everyone happy and into it. In the first week the whole mood is just awkward.
They could have just dealt nonlethal damage. Regular guards can't do much to them at this point. I don't think they know that that rule exists, though...
they were such murder-hobos in the early days... well, Geoff anyway lol.
I'm kind of in agreement with some of the commentators. Why didn't they just ask the guards there if they could go in an clear it out? I'm sure there'd be a guard captain at their camp or something. xD
omg nothing happened for so long, but the last few minutes was so worth it
The lesson for me here, is that if Neal would like our merry band of misfits to be more like heroes, they are going to need help. A lot.
The original invisibility idea was so much better. That plus the fear rod.
Would love to see some of the families of the people this group has murdered were to go to Vincent's kingdom and seek justice from his father.
I'm sure if Vincent died, he might reconsider the 'always charge into battle' strategy.
"Well we were ordered to keep the doors closed and not let anyone in for over 100 years, but these guys want to help so I guess fuck that."
People should stop suggesting this.
What happens if they turn the infinite bag inside out?
It was like an episode of Dragonball Z. Everyone starring at each other for the entire episode.
Loving this show!
I wonder how often Neil wonders when they will finally listen to what he says and take the easy and sneaky way he proposed to them ( *coff balcony *coff)
Watching this was like watching someone get hit by a train in slow motion.
All I wanted all episode... "I TAKE A SHOT!" "ok. roll to hit"
still wondering how "what about the guard camp?" didn't come into discussion AT ALL
2 Minutes after this video was posted...totally wasn't refreshing the page for the past hour
cast invis in one of the temples?
Holy crap, so stubborn. Just go to the city and get contracted to clear the thing. Their DM must tear his hair out every night.
Look at Neal's reaction beginning 20:35. Priceless. #DMlife
This part... wow. Just wow.
This was painful and yet hilarious to watch.
This episode hurt a lot, but in a pleasant giggly way. Subterfuge is not their strong suit.
I feel like Jeff has a secret motive not to use any good plans.
UGH so basically nothing happened until the very end of the video and of course it was cut off >:I . Well gotta wait till the next video then :P
Couldn't they have just paid a drifter to shout for help to lure the knights away?
I mean I guess they're knights, not town guards, so they have no real reason to come to somebody who's calling them, but it was worth a shot.
I don't get why they didn't just ask the guards to clear it..
"Ryan: I TAKE A SHOT!
Nial: ROLL TO HIT!
Ryan: I TAKE A SHOT!"
Video ends.
Me: FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
new Rollplay motto - So bad it's Good
So the kingdoms could continue burying they "great kings"? Honestly, i think Geoff was being an ass for refusing to go to tide's end just because the lord/king 'might' say no.

Ok, I'm only half way through, but couldn't they just ask the Captain of the guard if they can volunteer to clear the crypt.
not sure Geoff is Stubborn or Vincent is.
Geoff is so stubborn lol, ryan and gen are doing their best at thinking of a reasonable plan other than fighting.
Dude since jp brought it up, i already thought of this when i watched yesterdays vod, use the fuckin minotaur baguette
A brilliant Silver Dragon who has asked them onto this mission is watching the whole planning and scenario and doesn't add ANYTHING to the conversation or planning. A good DM role plays that better. Not GIVING the answer, but certainly throwing out possibilities. *sigh*
yes Gregor steps up ad tries to do the right thing Yet Vincent is dead set on murdering the guards
This week on roll play, its conversation time, thirty minutes of absolutely nothing. They are still horrible at thinking strategically.
I like their characters but they really do suck as military strategists in real life...
Geoff wants to do everything the easy way, he doesn't seem to think things through i really think Neal should make make things tough for them.
Yeah that whole explanation was just wierd.. I'm not sure Vincent quite knows what honorable actually means.
so dont even try casting sleep or going in invisible?
Can't wait till saturday/sunday
Another Great Episode of Roll Pla... I mean Roll Do Nothing
If you are talking about the:
"Can i make a vehicle i can drag that doesn't make any noise?", then you are a silly person.
Word of the day is........... OBTUSE!!
I aggree, playing with them would be painfull, for me at least, but watching them is really funny!
That was a painful 20 minutes, I feel sorry for everyone involved xD
When they talk to the guards...
FACEDESK
FACEDESK
FACEDESK
I dont get what everyone is upset about, this is absolutely hilarious!!
I wish I could upvote this comment twice.
This was actually a really good one. fucking hillarious!
imagine how neal feels
I wish to god Neal would read the item descriptions before saying a bag of holding can't even hold a simple bow. I swear to god he just cuts the legs out from under the players whenever he possibly can. BAGS OF HOLDING HOLD UP TO 250 CUBIC FEET! Yet you can't put a bow in there? I would be so frustrated if he was my DM, don't know how they live with him. He holds up his hands as though the opening of a bag of holding is like 5 inches wide.... what the hell...?
only 21min? whyyyyyyyyyyyy ;( :D
Part 4&5 nothing happens, I waited all day for this shit
"This is horrible" - Geoff ... pretty much sums it up, unfortunately.
wow. that whent smooth
THEY FINALLY FUCKING DID SOMETHING
Poor Neal....Poor, poor Neal.
