Imagine that final guard, having bravely survived the attack by the group of grave robbers, he patrols the camp knowing justice will be done this day. Suddenly he spots a lone elf in the camp and runs for his compatriots. Only to find the bloody horror of all his fellow soldiers and even the captain slaughtered in their beds! lol
I feel like this scenario is like the second one we've seen in the entire series where Abigael gets to actually do theify things. Like Vincent is always super useful because the party is always getting in straight up fights and interacting with nobility and stuff, but here Abigael gets to be the useful one. Also that guard was a human carrying a torch, there's no way he could have spotted them at that distance
No the reason they got caught was because Vincent used the rod without announcing and therefor terrifying both Banon and Bregor, the 4 rounds of walking / sneaking behind them didn't help much but that is not the reason why they got caught. Any rogue that knows all you need is cover or concealment(LoS) to hide. Sneak attacks are +1d6 for every 2 levels back stabs are +2 to hit constant. requires: sneak attack, stealth how is she forgetting to back stab exactly? :S
The way I see it, all people imagine things their way, and with the map, they're less likely to be discrepant with the DM's vision of the world. Neal could well describe the locale in extravagant detail, and when the time came for combat, they could switch to a grid and check who's actually in range of what and so on. Maybe that's just me.
I'm inclined to agree with skirick, the less you have to imagine, the less you will, generally, especially this party, whom are chronically disconnected and unable to integrate pretty basic descriptions into mental images. So, now we have the map, to save getting a tactical recap at the start of every freaking turn. Overall, with this party, it's a boon. But, like Dwarf Fortress for example, the less you see, the more you imagine.
"That's a brilliant plan' - Said Vincent Longborn, to Abigail, without a hint of sarcasm. I feel like I just witnessed a monumental event here, guys...
Abigail finally had her moment of glory. *SPOILERS* Killed more men in a single night than the entire party did in the fight. Saved everyones lives and gear. MVP.
Huh, I listen to it like a podcast, so it doesn't really bother me. It's also nice to have the reference to alt tab to every once and a while if I am confused.
Seemed kinda weird Banon couldn't see anything, but the guard spotted a sneaking elf across the courtyard. Also his torch would illuminate his are so they would have been able to keep track of him even without having him in sight. Eh just kinda seemed lame.
*possible spoiler* Oh but wait! Now when the riders come back from whatever town they were dispatched to to alert the local authorities of the fact that the tomb was assaulted, they will find all the bodies. But then, I think the town is like 15 days away, so maybe that wont be an issue.
I hope Neal used the dice to determine the illogically lax security, especially when they know another party member was on the loose. Personally I was hoping for a party wipe, but thats beside the point.
Wrong, the reason they got into this situation was because no one could come up with a better idea, like using the look-out that they could have easily gotten up to using Abis' climbing skill or maby Banon could've used his spider climb spell. Either way, it's not just one persons' fault.
you wouldn't happen to know a place where one could get into somewhat casual D&D sessions like JP's?.. i kinda wanna get into it, 'cause it seems like a blast but doubt i can find anyone locally.. how/where do people get together and do stuff like this?
Theres no way you could be sleeping in the same room as someone who gets murdered by a dagger and not wake up. I guess the best bet would be stabbing through eye to brain and instant kill, but thats going to make some noise. If you slit there throat they will bleed out and wake up, but they can thrash and that would make noise.
I found the alignement of the party : Neutral Evil. Nothing Lawful in them. Bregor should lose his ranger abilities, for he never acted as either chaotic good, neutral good or/and lawful good. I don't condemn the party, either. They act as they wish, but they have absolutly NO ethics nor morality. Fun :D
To anyone who thinks Neal makes the game too hard for the players - leaving only 1 guy on watch out of what.. like 12 guards? when they know that one of the party that just attacked them is still out there somewhere was pretty nice. I mean I'd at least have put a guy or 2 on guard duty in front of the room where the party was being held.
Ever seen the show Lexx? Remember when the remenants of the League of 20,000 Worlds come after Stanley for his crimes? I been hoping for something like that to happen to these guys. Unfortunately I've seen how Vincent handles it. He wouldn't care and make the most nonesense arguements until he finds a way to kill more people. Hard to watch... In it for Bregor and Abigael.
She tries to backstab, don't bs, she just doesn't succeed all the time or Neal says she can't. Like the cave before Ryker came, she tried to come from the behind but the stench of the cave stopped her from backstabbing.
I was quite stunned when they started slitting the throats. I knew they were quite immoral characters, but I would have expected vincent to at least say something about it not being honorable or something.
Nah, my D&D group was worse. We had a Cleric who didn't heal you, but merely took the pain away (still functioned the same, but that was the flavor-text), a Sorcerer that did everything over-the-top, a Warrior that had a plant for a pet, a Kolbold that liked to stick things up his butt, a bard that couldn't sneak to save his life, a monk who was sick of being lawful, a rogue that loved killing, and a druid with a scaredy-cat for a tiger. ---Obviously some characters were rotated out/died---
Although even though he made the situation pretty easy for the players - by the point when Abi is just killing everyone he could have really sped that up and saved a bunch of playing that out round by round which felt kind of pointlessly drawn out (i mean avoiding the 1 guard was not difficult).
I'm starting to get it now.. Vincent doesn't act on his own actual morality.. He acts like that on with who he occupies his time with. With Uncle Oris he became more forgiving and logical. With the Black Robed Mage, Banon, he's much darker and vengeful.
Lol, notice how Neal overtly expresses the least appreciation for dick jokes or dirty jokes in general, but is also the one who loses, by far, his composure the most when such jokes are made. Ah well, considering the freed slaves, folks protected from ogres and refugees escorted to safety, I'd have taken a Chaotic Neutral alignment for the party, up until now, even with the senseless assault on the encampment. But after this... it's hard to say. They were a little too quick to fall to mass murder, too eager even.
Yeah, it would be nice if this actually affected the party psychologically. At the very least, if they had qualms about what their exploits really add up to.
I think you're blinded by hate. She initially rolled pretty terrible for her stats. But looking back she seems to shine in a lot of scenarios. Separating herself from the group that was basically on a suicide mission...might seem selfish. But strategically it was a very good idea. She's useless in one on one combat anyway.
With that amount of throat slicing the party levels up from murderers to serial killers.
Imagine that final guard, having bravely survived the attack by the group of grave robbers, he patrols the camp knowing justice will be done this day. Suddenly he spots a lone elf in the camp and runs for his compatriots. Only to find the bloody horror of all his fellow soldiers and even the captain slaughtered in their beds! lol

He starts the fucking fights!
ThriveOfficial Yeah torches do jack shit for actually lighting things, its more of a signal kinda thing.
This party is thoroughly evil. Holy crap.
No the reason they got caught was because Vincent used the rod without announcing and therefor terrifying both Banon and Bregor, the 4 rounds of walking / sneaking behind them didn't help much but that is not the reason why they got caught.

I'm glad Abigael had a chance to do this stealth mission and fully utilize her skills. It was nice to see her be an asset to the group.
This has been the best encounter by far in the game. This stealth mission was so fun to watch.
JP, your ability to be perfectly on time is amazing
Also, Abigael seems much more comfortable roleplaying now. She's actually become really entertaining!
Really awesome episode, was awesome to see Abi using her class.
I'm inclined to agree with skirick, the less you have to imagine, the less you will, generally, especially this party, whom are chronically disconnected and unable to integrate pretty basic descriptions into mental images. That evil cackle as she killed the captain was great
She's getting better, it actually was a pretty beast plan.
"That's a brilliant plan' - Said Vincent Longborn, to Abigail, without a hint of sarcasm. I feel like I just witnessed a monumental event here, guys...

Yay Abi! The stealth stuff has been one of the smartest and most interesting things to happen so far :)
Wait, the guard sees Abigael from all the way across the camp even though she, as an elf, can't see more than halfway across it?
I think you're right. I also think the sun is mildly warm.
It's cool to see them all getting their Monaco on
Benon Makes us Invisiber - Vincent Longborn
I'm just glad we weren't the only ones reacting that way to successfully slitting enemy NPCs throats in their sleep :p
"I've never seen a more average human, but at this time your the most beautiful person I've ever seen." Best pick up line ever, use it.
Geoff : Oh really? What kind?
Neal: You're not there, you can't ask these questions.
Geoff: Damn it!
For some reason, this made me laugh the most.
When Geoff suggested they go murder everyone now that they're invisible, I busted up for a good minute.
Go for the eyes, mr. Togwoggles, go for the eyes! Arrrgh!
Seemed kinda weird Banon couldn't see anything, but the guard spotted a sneaking elf across the courtyard. Also his torch would illuminate his are so they would have been able to keep track of him even without having him in sight. Eh just kinda seemed lame.
Like a crutch, it's great if your leg is gimped, but if you aren't handicapped, it'll just slow you down.
Dear god week 22 part 4, I have some catching up to do if I want to watch this series.
*possible spoiler*
Oh but wait! Now when the riders come back from whatever town they were dispatched to to alert the local authorities of the fact that the tomb was assaulted, they will find all the bodies. But then, I think the town is like 15 days away, so maybe that wont be an issue.
As Neal has said previously he doesn't care about alignments. Will there decisions affect them? Yes they will but not because they're "evil"
There is no such thing as innocence... only degrees of guilt.
Oh man the constant Bregor 1's are so hilarious!
I feel like having such bad luck should be pitied, but I can't stop laughing xD
I love how this elite military camp that destroyed them in a fight can so easily be taken down by a simple assassin.
Everyone has gotten really good at Roleplaying.
I'd say he's playing his intellect perfectly. Usually not overly intelligent people think they are smarter than they really are.
This series must become a comedy anime or something. i'm just saying it's flipping amazing series
What's weird is that one episode I'm rolling with anger the other it's with laughter.
That's the power of charisma, sounding much smarter than you are.
Abigael was hilarious and totally awesome
"Abigeal is a tief" LOL glad he didnt forget
Freaking Love this series

I here Shadowrun is fun. i've never played it personally, but that's due to funds, not disinterest.
She murdered half the camp in their sleep. Thief isn't a combat centric class. The party just never puts her in a position to be useful
The "pinky her ferret" line made me almost choke on my sandwich.
Fun :D
Abigael's time to shine!
He puts his left hand on the side of his head whenever the party ruins something. Some shit is about to go down.
To anyone who thinks Neal makes the game too hard for the players - leaving only 1 guy on watch out of what.. like 12 guards? when they know that one of the party that just attacked them is still out there somewhere was pretty nice. I mean I'd at least have put a guy or 2 on guard duty in front of the room where the party was being held.
is this the first time abigaels profession has been useful?
Neal's face when they exclaim: "Let's murder them all in their sleep! It's really easy!"

That stealth killing spree pretty much made up for her being almost completely being out of the fight last time 'round. :P
*sings in a cheery voice* Weeee're Chaotic EEEEViiilll!
Best episode.
Not really, isn't the Longborn kingdom a kingdom where there is an 'iron price'?
So the party is now chaotic evil?
Well, there's a first time for everything!
I might have to stay up to watch week 23 now.... Could it really be that bad??
What's that program they're using?
Man I want to play now :(
I was quite stunned when they started slitting the throats. I knew they were quite immoral characters, but I would have expected vincent to at least say something about it not being honorable or something.
Wasn't expecting Abigail to be MVP.
the sighn of your complete imaturity
Hahah the beginning
On another note, deeeeeem MURDER much?
DAYUM GURL you cant be going around killin everything
Dat private part 5 not available !
Pretty sure Abi just got so much xp for that stabbing... even with a share for Banon that's a lot of dead people.
9:42 haha Neal is like "I can't believe this shit"
Next he'll inspire you to play Werewolf: the Apocalypse or Vampire: the Masquerade, or some other World of Darkness game.
Vincent's sense of honor and justice is very crooked... and really convenient for the party.
Most of those people have a degree of guilt of zero :3
Shadow Run. Wait for it.
---Obviously some characters were rotated out/died---
So Abigael is the most average HUMAN Vincent's ever seen? I guess that makes her a pretty weird-ass elf then.
Although even though he made the situation pretty easy for the players - by the point when Abi is just killing everyone he could have really sped that up and saved a bunch of playing that out round by round which felt kind of pointlessly drawn out (i mean avoiding the 1 guard was not difficult).
One does not exclude the other.
LOL amazing as usual
Abigail did work today. Do not like the fact that she murdered that girl but she is a rouge so yeah
Let us know if it works.
The dm that gave her that ability and has been playing for years forgot that ability. this is her 22nd time playing.
I'm starting to get it now.. Vincent doesn't act on his own actual morality.. He acts like that on with who he occupies his time with. With Uncle Oris he became more forgiving and logical. With the Black Robed Mage, Banon, he's much darker and vengeful.

2 minutes into the video and i cant wathch from laughing already
Holy shit, Abi is a murdering machine.
Ahhh, Neal is loosening up. The God is good again.
hehehehe, I loved that part.
Would it be entertaining if they were a band of lawful good people? Tell me.
5:30
Aawwwww, Ryan
Omg, the dick-jokes. I was laughing so hard! :D
Yeah, it would be nice if this actually affected the party psychologically. At the very least, if they had qualms about what their exploits really add up to.
No, they will come up to city guard and tell them 'We are totally evil guys, please kill us'.
we can hope
I think you're blinded by hate. She initially rolled pretty terrible for her stats. But looking back she seems to shine in a lot of scenarios. Separating herself from the group that was basically on a suicide mission...might seem selfish. But strategically it was a very good idea. She's useless in one on one combat anyway.
