Growing up my cat was more attentive to my emotional needs than my own parents, and he would "talk" to me, too. Lol I used to love that. Plus the concerned cuddles and mews when I was crying or upset.
I suffer from PTSD, my cats help so much, they sense my moods, when I'm down. They bring me up when needed. They also mellow me , when i start to get twisted.

Many years ago, during the late 90's, and I was still living at home, I was doing my Associate Degree in Applied Biology. Funny thing was, they're were so few of us, we got thrown into all the same classes as the Bachelors students; same lectures, same coursework, same labs. Only difference was our split was 50/50 coursework to exams, whilst there's was 30/70 ... despite them being the exact same paper ...
Anyway all that was a lead up to when a family friend left her cat with us, as she didn't want to put him in a kennel, during the weeks she was going to spend around Europe (which, as we were in London (England)), wasn't that far away ...
God knows what Alfie was, but clearly mostly Maine Coon, as he was a big boy, but a gentle giant, especially when it came to my sister. It seemed her understood that she was severely disabled, and was more like a toddler in behaviour, rather than her actual chronological age. So he would lay close to her, and let her gently roll him back and forth. He must have liked that as, although he wasn't on his back, laying on his side, purring like a sewing machine, meant he loved those 'massages' ...
But one thing stuck out to me. Despite appearances, our mum really didn't give a crap about us kids, not even my sister due to ... well ... very long story, but abuse heavily features in there. Alfie turned out to be my only emotional outlet.
One day I came home exhausted, having had a Clinical Biochemistry exam, backed by a Molecular Biology exam, both I knew I had failed. Just after I came home, and locked up the front door for the night, I hear footsteps coming down the stairs I turned, and there was Alife. He wasn't quite at the last step, bit looked up at me, and made a meow I had never from him yet. Taking the last few steps, again, he stopped, and, again, made that same meow.
Even though we were a good 10, perhaps 12ft, apart, the way I see it, he picked up on my utter mental, emotional, and psychological, exhaustion, not just because I just had six hours of exams that day, but I was exhausted all of the time.
Just thinking about makes me well up, because there was more emotion in those two meows, than what my mum said to me, despite knowing _exactly_ how, and why I had to cause my dad to be sent to prison because of what he did to my sister and myself.
Alfie must've picked up on that, because despite me being a tease to him, that I fed him, and turned the cold bathtap on for him, when he was thirsty, at times, just having about was a God-send ...
What happened close to when our friend came back ... the fact he would sleep in the cold, hard bathtub sent alarms through my brain. If I had the money, I would've gotten him to the vet, ASAP. But my mum told me no ...
I still don't know what killed him, as the owner did even want bloodtests being done, and I have no idea where he physically is. But, as I believe in souls, he is on the otherside of the Rainbow Bridge, and, if possible, I would love to meet him there ...
In the meantime, a long-term plan is to adopt a pair of longhaired sibling cats, older than kittens, but not so old that ... well ...

My parents not just emotionally abused my sister and I ... my dad actively used us both as sexual surrogates, whilst our mum tried to sweep behind, obscuring the evidence. By rights, according to my (female) therapist, because of what iur mum did, she should've been sentenced to at least three years.
But our mum died close to two years ago, never once showing an ounce of remourse, or regret. She didn't even try to give a meaningful apology ...
Yes, the Internet is awash with angsty teenagers.
But that shouldn't, not mustn't be used to negate, nor neglect, teenagers, and young men, and women, whom are genuinely hurting from anywhere from neglectful parenting to pathological parenting, that goes upto, and including, sexual assault, abuse, and rape, as was in my case. Looking back, I'm surprised how much of me was mentally present, and didn't hide my self totally away, as sometimes happens in instances of extreme abuse.
As I have learnt, it is dangerous to ignore to possible. Isolation is one of the many factors that leads to actual suicide attempts, and, tragically, succeed in doing so. I, myself, came close to being a statistic.
So my personal axiom is this: never first attribute to teenage angst, that which you can to genuine suffering.
Or, in other words, it is better to have erred on the side of caution, than to ignore, with the result of yet another addition to a statistic ... teenage angst comes from somewhere, even if it does turn out to be narcissism ...
@@nigelft i had a big orange maine coon , one of 4 deserted , and bottle fed. Tiger , at age 8, 22 lbs. He started losing weight , took him to vet. No white cells, lukemia, terminal. But they could trans fuse him. 1400 dollars . I wasn't ready to let him go. I had plenty of money. I paid . He was with me 3 months, and i had to take him his last trip to my vet. I had him cremated , and remains back to me . They are on my top shelf of my room . With a clay print of his paw. His siblings are still with me. Along with some wood cats , that have adopted me. And enjoy a happy safe life . And get vetted , and fixxed . Tigers sister missy , big grey tabbie , is a lap cat. Follows me like a puppy. And walks on a leash. Got two pits too. Missy and my red nose pit are buddies.

Kittens will literally just rag doll on you if you let them. Especially if they chose you as their source of warmth. The weirdest part for me the first time was when mine didn’t wake up when no matter how many times I slightly shook her. Kittens do not care.

There is a neighbors dog, barks a ton to all walkers, and I've seen & heard every single animal (person) saying... They'll want to hit the dog bcs they feel threatened/scared... Not one practiced to have some patience nor try understanding the nature of the dog. So as I do with any pet that crosses my yard, I feed them since I buy food for 5. No lack of food thank god, so dog barked at me expecting the same reaction from other people, gave him food water bout the 3rd time he came talking to me in his language, and sat by the plate where I've previously gave the food... Not that he understands me perfect but he did since now he takes care of my cats. Is such a beautiful experience, cause at first he was sort of aggressive with them but I was talking to the dog and Im so amazed of how he acts playful with them. No doubt, animal kingdom is the most kind, loyal and forgiving (" no education needed ")

Truer words were never spoken! Now that I'm retired and get to spend quality time with my three boys and one girl I've learned so much from them. They do understand more than we give them credit for. They do have a way of making us do their bidding.

I’ve seen kittens who look like they are literally dead when asleep lol. I had to wake them up just to check they’re ok, even if they are breathing. Once they open their eyes I’m like ok they’re fine 😅. Then they go back to being dead asleep again. 😂

You are right. My vet has always seen me bringing in my cats for their yearly checks and shots. They freaked out when i brought my 80 pound red nose pit. They said dang thought you were just a cat guy.i have 7 cats and 2 pits. They get along marvelously.

What a beautiful little kitten. My cat is exactly like this, and I love her to death.
A stray cat have saved my 5 years old daughter’s live from being bit by a venomous snake. Me, my wife, and our daughter are in debt to that cat for the rest of our lives, so we adopted him to give him the love and the care that he deserve. And now Max is a big part of our family.
We had a cat years ago that told us (in his own way, but quite understandable) the moment we got home, that there was a snake in the house, and showed us where it was. I got some gloves and removed a harmless King snake, and somebody earned some treats.

Amen! Beautifully well said! I rescued my pitbull boxer 3 years ago who was abandoned on the city streets in Albany New York. He was on a 1’ chain on a fence. No food or water. And no one knew who’s dog it was or how long he had been there. I sat in my car and watched for over 1 hr and no one came to his aide. I couldn’t leave him there, so I brought him home. He only knew how to sit. I gave him rice and ground beef for about 8 hrs, very slowly, as he kept vomiting it up.You could see his ribs and bite marks around his neck. His vet told me he basically had all the symptoms of being a fighting dog, Including sharpened teeth. I gave him 3 baths the day I brought him home and another bath the next day. It was a lot of work and a lot of care, but Bud is doing beautifully and he’s happy and healthy. He even has his own bedroom and an acre of land with some woods & a creek near. The love and joy we give each other every day, it’s absolutely so beautiful. We are both blessed to have each other, especially this past 1 1/2 yrs.

In my experience cats, or atleast my cat, most definitely understands what a question is. He doesn’t necessarily understand what the question is, but, he definitely understands the inflection in my voice and realizes a response is required. He likes a conversation too which I think is really an affirmation that he’s part of a pack, albeit a pack of two.
I know exactly what u mean. My kitty Cheeto understood some Spanish when he was rescued so I'll speak to him in my poor Spanish but he gets the jist of it!😁

An animal has the instinct, better than humans do, in sensing that the big human there will not hurt & will take care of me. That kitten is so comfortable with this guy and adorably falls asleep on him. Priceless.

All animals s e n s e anger or rage in some1-same story re: peace n tranquility, or a person who loves and is strong...my little sister, in particular, has had countless dogs and cats just come to her & what I call "Pick her out"-its just like ppl looking over a litter of kits or puppins, only a little animal chooses a person that catches their eye & they've got to have: what a deeply flattering compliment from 1 living thing to another!!!
