It's not Disney, or even really a movie, but because you said you're not great with musicals, you should check out The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, by StarKid (it's on youtube)
This movie is basically a culmination of some of Disney's best movies. The references are everywhere, and it's amazing (example; Nancy = actress who plays Elsa, the assistant = actress who plays Ariel). The reason that Giselle is, regrettably, so easily forgotten, and not actually part of the official Princess line-up, is because Disney would have to pay Amy Adams for the rights on her character (basically royalties to use her image for toys and so). Aaaaaand, she's not technically a princess. Didn't marry the prince or isn't one by birth lol PS James Marsden did not get enough recognition for this role. He was so great.
Minimal detail: when Giselle arrives in New York and sees that little guy from under her dress, she exclaims “Grumpy!”. It wasn’t him, but it could be an Easter egg.
"Damn, that's crazy. Giselle has no street knowledge. Why would you ever follow a random grandma. Near a well." I love how that implies it's well known street knowledge that random grandmas throw people in wells 😂
The soap opera is loaded with references: The female soap star “Angela” (so named for Angela Lansbury, who voiced Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast) is played by Paige O’Hara, the voice of Belle. “Angela” is arguing with a man named “Jerry” (Jerry Orbach voiced Lumiere) because she’s having an affair with a man named “Ogden” (David Ogden Stiers voiced Cogsworth). This soap opera scene is scored with music from Beauty and the Beast.
I remember completely deleting this film from my memory, barely remembering its existence, plot and characters; then one day, I rewatched it just to see how it was, AND IT'S SO UNNECESSARILY GOOD. Truly an underrated gem.
Some facts about this film. 1. Cameron Diaz,Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Aniston,Jennifer Garner and Christina Aguilrea all auditioned for Giselle but lost out to Amy Adams who was no 246(I think). 2. James Marsden who plays Prince Edward auditioned for Robert Philip but turned down the part and went for Edward instead. The role of Robert went to Patrick Dempsey. 3. The movie pays homage to Snow White,Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty 4. A sequel has been in development since 2010. 5. The narrator is Julie Andrews. 6. The elderly men dancing with the elderly ladies during the That's How U Know scene were also in West Side Story(1961). 7. Famous Disney actors appear in this film ;Jodi Benson(Robert's Secretary who voiced Ariel in The Little Mermaid ,Paige O Hara who plays Angela in the soap opera Edward watches at the motel voiced Belle in Beauty And The Beast and Judy Khurn who plays the pregnant lady was the singing voice for Pocahontas). 8. Charlie Sheen,Sean Penn and Keanu Reeves were in the run up for Robert Philip. 9. Idina Menzel who is a trained Broadway singer doesn't sing in this one. 10. Patrick Dempsey sings a small snippet at the ballroom scene. 11. Adam Shankman(who is directing the sequel) was suppose to direct the 1st one,but it didn't work out, coincidentally Anne Fletcher was suppose to direct the sequel to Disenchanted but she decided to direct Hocus Pocus 2 instead. 12. Angelica Huston,Mary Steenbergn,Julianne Moore and Jessica Lange all auditioned for Narissa which went to Susan Sarandon. 13. Enchanted was the film that made Amy Adams a household name. 14. During the time of filming Amy was 32,Patrick was 41,Idina was 36 and James was 35.
This entire movie is fantastic, but I always *love* the animated scenes at the beginning lol. I'd love to see a full movie in that artstyle - it's beautiful
The final, lightning-struck battle is a homage to the battles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast.
Nancy was played by Broadway vet Idina Menzel, who was the original Maureen in Rent, the original Elphaba in Wicked, Rachel's mom Shelby in Glee, and the voice of Elsa in the Frozen movies
I actually had a once-in-a-lifetime experience seeing this movie. I got to see it at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood. They had all the dresses and costumes on display, and even had themed games you could play.
I remember those displays! It was so surreal to see fairytale dresses in real life that I spent too much time staring them, my parents had to drag me away so we can get to our seats on time
The troll in the opening sequence is sporting a trendy loincloth consisting of remnants of Cinderella’s maid get-up, Aurora’s Briar Rose dress, Belle’s village dress, and Snow White’s rags. His earrings are also made of Ariel’s shell top.
Lol, glad you ended up liking it. I honestly wasn't sure you were having a good time for the first couple minutes. How does she know really was the standout for this one, i agree. (And if you want to forage into musicals, despite the dislike, may i suggest "the guy who didn't like musicals"? Sounds like it's relevant to your situation)
0:28 Giselle’s statue look and modeled after Robert’s Ball outfit, foreshadowing that Robert was her true love. 1:40 The troll lowkey looks like Shrek. 6:49 SAME, Cockroaches *shutters* Nope, I’m Moving. 8:58 In this scene “part of you’re world Instrumental” is playing in the background, bc Jodie Benson(Ariel) was Robert’s Secretary, Pocahontas’s singing voice was the women with a lot of kids when Edward was searching for Giselle, and Paige O’Hara was the lady in the Soap Opera that Edward and Nathaniel are watching in the Hotel. Also In that scene when Pip was hanging from the hanger it’s reference 2 the Jesus pose I didn’t notice that as a younger child. Also when Edward got run over by the bikes That originally wasn’t in the script, but the director kept it in b/c it was funny or something.😅 13:19 What about like cold pizza like from papa John (probably) and u cook it in the oven *chefs kiss* CHEFS KISS 😚 💋 2:54 Get this “Oh my precious” out of my face. When Giselle first Arrived in New York. Pretty accurate. I’ve never been to New York But that’s probably what it’s like.
I've loved this film since I was 16/17 yrs/o. I remember I drove my mom insane as I couldn't stop thinking about this film and I was devastated i couldn't see it in the cinemas. Luckily she bought me the DVD of it 14 years ago and still love it to this day.
The reporter is named Mary Ilene Caselotti, which is a reference to Mary Costa (the voice of Aurora), Ilene Woods (the voice of Cinderella) and Adriana Caselotti (the voice of Snow White).
Since you have a weird relationship with musicals I think you should watch Chicago (2002) It is one of the few musicals where the existence of songs makes sense. Basically they take place either on stage or in the protagonist's imagination.
Some fun facts: Nancy is the voice actress for Elsa from Frozen and she played Elphaba from Broadways Wicked, the witch in Wizard of Oz. Her characters last name is also Tremaine - a reference to the wicked stepmother from Cinderella. The secretary is Jodi Benson aka the voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Thumblina. The queen is based off Maleficent and the evil queen from Snow White Giselle is based off Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. One of the elderly dancers in this film was also in Mary Poppins. The man who works for the evil queen also played Peter Pettigrew from Harry Potter. When Prince Edward is flipping through television channels in the hotel room, the soap opera he watches featured Paige O'Hara, the voice of Belle in Beauty and the Beast. There's also going to be a sequel to this film.
idk if anyones beat me to it yet but nancy is idina menzel, she’s the original elphaba from broadway’s wicked as well as elsa from frozen’s voice actress!
COMMENT 25!!! Bruh, I love this movie soooooo much! Even back in elementary school, I would do the characters' impressions. It's just such a childhood of mine
@@RivalReacts okay 👌 cool I honestly couldn't place your accent like at all -- I think you would like 'My Stepmother is an Alien' -- it's a little cringy but when you said the Netherlands that's what I thought of lol 🤣

ALICE IN WONDERLAND (Live action unless chuu want to compare the cartoon and the live action. The live action also has a sequel)
Let it shine, rush hour, she’s the man. ( not all of them are Disney)
You should probably watch the hunchback of Notre Dame and Atlantis
Fun fact! Some of the old men dancing in the "How does she know?" song were actually dancers from Mary Poppins!, from the roof scene.
Ohmy
Makes sense
Oh my gosh that makes everything so much better
Yes the chimney sweep 🧹
And West side story

Marsden was so funny in this
Minimal detail: when Giselle arrives in New York and sees that little guy from under her dress, she exclaims “Grumpy!”. It wasn’t him, but it could be an Easter egg.
Marsden NEVER gets enough credit. He's great in everything he's been in.
And yet Mulan aint royalty either
All I'm saying is, it's such a crime to cast Idina Menzel and not give her a song.
"Damn, that's crazy. Giselle has no street knowledge. Why would you ever follow a random grandma. Near a well."
I love how that implies it's well known street knowledge that random grandmas throw people in wells 😂
😂😂 all i know is that you and me would never get wellpushed like that 😔
😂😂😂
This movie is also a parody of Disney poking fun at its own movies.
This makes everything so much more fun 😂
It sure does 😂
The soap opera is loaded with references:

Holy crap, I am now wanting to rewatch this movie precisely for... ALL the fun facts you dropped. Never realized all of these! XD
Angela
RIP THE ANGELA LANSBURY💔😔
Robert’s secretary Sam is played by Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid. You can even hear Part of Your World in the background!
Also the voice of Thumblina
I remember completely deleting this film from my memory, barely remembering its existence, plot and characters; then one day, I rewatched it just to see how it was, AND IT'S SO UNNECESSARILY GOOD. Truly an underrated gem.
Nancy’s last name is Tremaine, a reference to the wicked stepmother in Cinderella.
I have noticed that
I love how any part with Nancy is cut out with Edward getting married 💀 but yes somehow a guilty pleasure movie even if Robert Lowkey cheated 😅

Yep the no. 9 triggered me so badly
The dancers were also from Mary Poppins
The calypso beat in “That’s How You Know” is intended as a nod to “Under the Sea” and “Kiss the Girl” in The Little Mermaid.
7:25 If you didn't realize it, Nancy is played by Idina Menzel. This was before she became Queen Elsa.
This entire movie is fantastic, but I always *love* the animated scenes at the beginning lol.
I'd love to see a full movie in that artstyle - it's beautiful
“True Love’s Kiss” pays homage to the scene in The Little Mermaid where Ariel sings to the statue of Eric.
I love the way this film perfectly combines live action w/ animation and CGI - I'd love to see more films do that tbh
The final, lightning-struck battle is a homage to the battles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast.
I love how for the entire movie your main commentary was just "$2 bus ticket is a valid option in this scenario!" 🤣🤣
This movie is a classic. All the Disney references in it are amazing and I love that It's basically Disney making fun of itself.
The El Capitan is a great movie theater. I don’t know about now but at the time it had one of the best sound systems.
I remember those displays! It was so surreal to see fairytale dresses in real life that I spent too much time staring them, my parents had to drag me away so we can get to our seats on time
I'm very jealous lmao. I liked this movie as a kid, but as I've grown older, I absolutely love it!!
Robert’s last name is Philip, a reference to Prince Phillip in Sleeping Beauty, whose trusty steed also happens to be named Samson.
The troll in the opening sequence is sporting a trendy loincloth consisting of remnants of Cinderella’s maid get-up, Aurora’s Briar Rose dress, Belle’s village dress, and Snow White’s rags. His earrings are also made of Ariel’s shell top.
The woman that says Edward is "Too late." is Judy Kuhn, the singing voice of Pocahontas.
The poison caramel apple Nathaniel tries to feed Giselle has the same skull pattern as the poison apple in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
The narrator is Julie Andrews, Mary Poppins herself.
The frog with the bubbles was a reference to The Princess and the Frog, which was in development at the time of Enchanted.
There's a stage play of Rapunzel in the That's How You Know number, another movie that was in development when this came out.
Lol, glad you ended up liking it. I honestly wasn't sure you were having a good time for the first couple minutes. How does she know really was the standout for this one, i agree. Could already tell this is going to be a banger 👍🏾

The So close number is a reference to Beauty and the Beast, complete with a chandelier.
Robert’s law firm is named after Snow White and the Seven Dwarf’s songwriters: Frank Churchill, Leigh Harline, and Paul J. Smith.

The pink flower pattern on Giselle’s dress is really a bunch of hidden Mickeys.
