Why i stay subscribed to your channel is because i first got my guinea pig unexpectedly some people didnt want it anymore and they asked me if i wanted it and i said sure and i did not have anything for it and i didnt even know how to take care a guinea pig so that night i did my research and i came across your channel ❤️ and i finally bought a proper cage for my guinea pig , proper pellets , proper hay and i did as much as i could to give my guinea pig good care❤️ and then i finally got him a friend and slowy did the bonding process ❤️ so now i have 2 male guinea pigs❤️ and thanks to you i finally know how to take care of a guinea pig the right way’❤️
I like how calm you are and the clean, intelligent way that you speak. My sons (11 years and 8 years old) like to watch your videos with me sometimes (You are a good role model for them, not only in how you care the piggies but in how you speak; clean and respectful). I like that you do information videos on a variety of topics. I like that you answer my questions 😊 and I love that you are Canadian too!
I’m strictly a viewer, so I have no advice as far as making a channel goes. But as a viewer, my favorite pet channels show the true care of each animal. They show their messy cages and the work that goes into caring for the animal. Personally I love long videos, but I know that varies from person to person. In all, I just prefer to watch someone who seems genuine. 😊 Abby does a great job of having a variety of videos. She’s positive and happy. Her videos aren’t over the top or over done, and she talks about the issues in the pet care world which I respect immensely. She uploads very regularly and I always know I’m going to enjoy her videos. 😊❤️
Also wanted to say I appreciate that you are a working woman with other responsibilities and never complain about not having the time to properly tend to you babies!!! Way to be a responsible pet owner!!
I love your videos mostly because you tell it like it is. While being kind and polite, you don’t sugar coat certain topics (ie. please don’t put your piggies in a pool. They don’t like it!) I found your channel at least a year ago and subscribed immediately. I enjoy the helpful content, from clipping their nails, to caring for skinny pigs, which I don’t even own. You are super knowledgeable, so I know I can trust what you’re saying is in the best interest of my little guys. You’ve gotten me through the loss of 2 of my pigs, which was beyond devastating for me. Now, with my “2nd generation”, I enjoy just watching the day to day stuff..floor time, cage cleaning, veggie time, etc. I feel like I know all your pets!! 😊 I absolutely adore watching Seymour, because I don’t own a rabbit, but love to gather as much information as I can!! Thank you for your channel..it means the world to my boys and me!! ❤️

I hadn’t thought about doing a channel trailer lol - I don’t plan to be posting regularly or gain subs crazily, but these are great tips nonetheless!! Edit: regularly advertising new video posts on your social media is probably important too if you have followings on those platforms.

This is really good and you listed pretty much every important point there is. 👌🏼 I especially agree with your advice of not begging for subscribers. That's an immediate turn off to me whenever I see that around RUclips, or when a channel consistently asks their viewers to comment, like, share, and subscribe. Just stop lol! This was nice of you to share tips and surely will be helpful to many who are starting out! As far as your end question, I enjoy your channel because you're down to earth, incredibly caring to your pets, and put out good information. Although I don't have pigs or have an interest in owning them myself, it's nice supporting your channel since we're all in this together! I admire that you support others in the community too. Oh, and I've told you this multiple times, but I just adore your doll collection! I never tire of seeing how organized and color coordinated it is! 😍 I collect Hello Kitty things and don't have much at this point, but one day would love a shelf setup like what you have!

I love your channel because I know you have had a lot of experience with guinea pigs. I also appreciate the quality and thoroughness of your education about guinea pigs. Because of you, I learned so much on how to care for GP and how much of a joy they are to have, despite the amount of work they create. I’m an adult who has multiple animals and have considered starting a You-Tube channel. If I ever do, I truly would refer to you and other like minded, deeply caring and informative Tubers as my foundation to form my channel. Thank you for you content. Also, um, I cannot forget to mention the CUTENESS factor of your piggies (and Bun) and those little munch munch mouths are click bait alone!
My favorite part of you channel is that you don't "sugar coat" anything. If it is wrong it's wrong and if it's right it's right. I think one of the things that gets me coming back is when they get to the point quickly. and I can hear them. I hate the videos that are so quiet your volume is up as high as it goes and you cant hear them. I totally agree that if they are informational videos you can tell they have done some research and are giving you good up to date info! I like when you are talking about things to be showing us the piggies so that we see cuteness and get info too!Love your channel !
So I just adopted a couple of skinny pig brothers last year and before I picked them up I was bingeing videos about their care. Hence why I stumbled onto your channel. I stick around because you are so open about the health care of the piggies and so I was less terrified when Jacob got his first hay poke and I had to take him to the vet.
I love this video and all your videos they have helped me so muh I just started my first ever channel and made my first video it kind of sucks but you have to start somewhere right.
When I was considering adopting guinea pigs I watched literally all of your videos. You are a great example of what a pet owner should be and by making videos you are greatly improving the lives of so many pigs.
I thought about starting a channel so this is helpful. I got a guinea pig because I wanted a class pet and honestly had no idea how to care for them. I started researching right away and found your channel. I trusted you right away for some reason I feel like you knew so much. I watched other channels and wasn't as comfortable with the advice and also noticed alot have quit posting which is sad. I don't have my piggies at school and they are at home I have 4 boars now and I love them like children. So thank you for all you do!
I myself is also a Small Animal channel, not as big as you are though.
But I was going in a crisis in my life and my mother said I could get a small animal to care for on my own. I saw your videos and I choose to have guinea pigs. I watched a ton of your videos just so I can make my guinea pigs happy. When I got my boys I decided to start a channel to help others as well, and to share my piggy moments with others as well. I honestly think getting my Guinea Pigs helped me stop thinking of my negative thoughts and helped me realize that I’m actually something worth living in this world. They just made me feel happy again :)

I love the guniea pigs and guinea pig advice. But I also think you're a kind, gentle person, and that makes your videos so pleasant to watch.
oh and I think it is a nice thing to take the time to like your comments on your videos and comment back or answer questions sometimes. It shows you really care about your subs !

Abby, I have become addicted to your channel! I am an animal lover to the core and thought I was a bit crazy because of how I built my guinea and skinny home. But you made me feel less crazy lol. Pigs in small cages with nothing to do or barely any room just breaks my heart. I find it hard to not comment on those videos.

agree with you about the not begging for subs part. When I am on a channel live I try to answer as many questions about guinea pigs as I can to help the people who are making the videos and the lives, and the people who are asking questions. This also helps reduce the spam in the lives. Since I do this, many many people ask me if I have a channel and I always say no. I feel that when you beg for subscribers, there is a less chance that people are going to sub to you because your begging for subs. I think that it depends on each person though. Sometimes people are ok with the fact that people are constantly begging for likes, views, subs, etc. I personally get annoyed when big channels who have a bunch of subs keep asking for more likes, subs, views, etc. A small channel who does that might not annoy me that much because they don’t have many subs to begin with. I also hate that big family channels, that are targeted towards kids show such terrible care towards there pets. They are big influencers and whoever watches those channels are gonna follow that same advice and information even if it’s wrong. The schedule really helps me because when I sub to a channel I stay dedicated. I watch every vid, like, comment, etc, because I like too support and watch these channels. I try to plan my entire day according to when the channels I watch post so I can view the vids. When channels don’t have a concrete schedule, it kind of bugs me because then I have no idea what and when they are gonna post. So yeah, I love your tips and advice and here is what I think and sorry for this large comment.

I love your videos because as a fellow guinea pig "mom" I get a lot of information from you. You always talk about stuff so thoroughly and try not to miss anything. Also you have such good vibes! You are always so calm and so so positive, especially when dealing with the trolls 😂
Speaking as a subscriber, I love your channel. You always pack in useful information into your videos regarding the proper care of guinea pigs. I've been keeping pigs since the late 80's, but you can always learn new ways of doing things or find better products by watching channels like this. You've had a lot of different experiences medically because of how many pigs you've had/have. It makes people aware of signs and symptoms, preventative measures, as well as the unfortunate side of how quickly things can go south with guinea pigs. Your videos make me laugh or sometimes cry, but I'm always learning from your experiences that you so kindly share. I don't know anyone in my life who also shares their home with guinea pigs. You have given so many people a place to get information they can trust and to learn and discuss with other guinea pig lovers. This is invaluable. Thanks for doing what you do 💖

This was asupergreat video! I look on all of your videos, because you really really put your soul into your animals and you share so much great information! It is a joy to see happy animals. Animals deserve the best and that is what you give them. You are such a great role model to all young people (and even to old ladies like me) who is about/have animals. It is SO important to share good informations, so we get a stop on using small cages to all of our pets and to learn everyone the good way to take care of pets.

Totally gonna start a channel for my piggies, you’ve been my go to from the beginning and love the helpful advice.
With wanting to start a possible channel I’m worried no one will subscribe cause for right now my piggies in a ferret nation cage, they get daily exercise on the floor, I care greatly about my piggies and have always had a interest in doing a channel to show off and give advice as well, but I do worry about appearance and that would be the big one is if I do a cage tour is that they will be in a ferret nation cage, any advice?

I'm 100% with you regarding people coming onto a channel just to ask for views or sub for sub etc. It drives me crazy and I make a point to avoid going to those channels if people ask. :P I think I got a lot of my subs just by commenting and participating in the community as you mentioned on other people's related videos :) This is a really great video for people starting out. My problem is lack of content right now :P I really need to get back into it, it's been far too long.
Agree with every point. You are such an inspiration with your care and channel. I would only add that interacting within videos is also important. You are great at this for instance in this video you asked us to add to the discussion. I love to feel involved in a channel via the comments :-)
I don't watch anyone else on RUclips, as far as animal shows. I caught a glimpse here and there but didn't like them.
YOU'RE utmost kindness,caring,compassionate way about you is crucial for me. Plus your huge knowledge of caring for young,old,sick etc is very important for me to be a better,more knowledgeable guinea pig parent.

Excellent video and fabulous points! I think its so important to have a passion for proper pet care and a real desire to want to connect with like minded people and be part of that community. I really feel this is the most important driving force when creating a channel, way more important than wanting to get views or subs.If you only focus on how many subscribers you have and that's your biggest concern I think you'll loose your motivation and enthusiasm very quickly. But if you just enjoy creating quality, informative videos and sharing good advice and tips, and have a real passion for what your doing, you'll enjoy the journey regardless. I always think, 'if I help one person to give their pet better care and a better quality of life, or bring a smile to one person's face, then that's a fabulous difference to the world'. :) xxxx

You chose a very good topic to talk about. I love your videos because I'm a piggie owner too, and I find very interesting and informative everything you say, it's like you said, a very wide variety of topics to learn the proper care of piggies. There was a lot of things I didn't know about them, and I've learned from you. The most important thing for you to know about me, it's that I live in Mexico and it's a100% different here compared to Canada. You literally can't find any brand of pellets that aren't alfalfa based, you just can't (oxbow doesn't sell any off their products here). The hay you can get even in the best pets stores, is so deficient, broken, yellow or brown so you know it's not fresh and you know it doesn't have a high nutritional value. I didn't know all of this, and I learned it watching you. In a way it has been very frustrating because I can't get the best for my piggies, but I'm trying to make their lives better. I managed to bring them oxbow pellets, which of course they don't like and they don't eat. I'm trying to get a big box of hay, we'll see if we're lucky to do that. I had big cages and turns out they were ridiculously small for their needs, so I managed to get a 5x2 c&c cage for the girls. As you can see with these examples, step by step I've improved my piggies conditions, including a healthy diet, and I would love to make my own RUclips channel for people like me that really love their small pets but don't know what they really need to be fine and healthy because in our countries there isn't much information and very poor quality of everything. The only thing that is perfect and beautiful, are the piggies themselves. I hope you can give me some advice to improve even more. My live to all your piggies and bun bun 💖🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🐰
hi! I don't make videos or even own guinea pigs anymore. I used to own piggies, but they passed away quickly. This is how I found your channel. I wanted to stay subscribed to your channel because you are so sweet to your piggies and clearly know what you are doing. I cringe when I hear someone saying they want a pig because most of the time they don't really know what they are doing. I'm very happy when a pig gets a home, it's just most of the time it's with a kid who just wants a beginner pet and piggies are not beginner pets. You helped me so much when I did own my babies. I look forward to more videos!
I subscribed to you because I developed an interest for skinnys maybe a year ago if not two and you had super cute piggies I wanted to look at more times, you had really nice cages already then (I drool over your setup room now xD) and your voice is super easy to listen to which is so important to me. You have a very positive vibe about you and I surround myself with what can make my day better and isn't energy stealers or drama. Then you upped your educational level and my gosh I have stalked for videos a little each day for several weeks because you have made so many during my RUclips break. I have some interest in making a RUclips channel but I am so frightened that my anxiety will have a flip out and I will feel unsafe for some reason... plus I have a weird insecurity about my accent being detected which I know is rediculus but immigrants don't always get the best feedback so it's an insecurity. But if I would make a channel it most definitely would be about positive animal training that I do on my own with my animals and when I get piggies later this year I will be recording my training with them definitely. I feel like there is a high demand of piggie people that wish their piggies were capable of more! Like bonding, communication and interaction! With my training across the board of any animal my number 1 priority is that they need to feel that they have a say in what happens to their bodies because the times I have been bit by animals were times I accidentally overstepped what they felt comfortable with on where I touched them and how. So channel or not - that will be recorded and uploaded!
What I would tip new youtubers is that don't fall into the trap of trying to please everybody and lose yourself. Don't forget your vision, don't lose why you love this topic you picked. Those that truly like your content will stay because nobody does your style the way you do!
It is hard to put yourself out there and I know first hand some people will always try to be negative and hurtful. The reward and interactions with everyone far outweigh the Debbie Downers.

As for why I continue to come back to your channel?:
Just as in this video you are encouraging, knowledgeable, friendly and even when you are sharing a negative you do so in such a non-combatant way.
I have said it before, but it is work saying again.....I learned so much from you before I got my guinea pigs that I am confident that I am doing the best for them in regards, food, housing, exotic vet, etc., and I continue to learn by watching as you share one more thing that I may have missed during the research period or that now it applies.
Thank you for all your hard work. You are a fabulous role model not only as a RUclipsr (is that word? :)) but as a person.

I wanted to be a pet RUclipsr but I don't think I have a good speaking voice or vlog face, I prefer the written word. But I keep coming back to you, Little Adventures, Taylor Dean, Tyler Rugge, Emzotic, and Maddie Smith because each of you have interesting techniques, unique voices, and the most adorable animals and I'm just an animal addict myself so I can never get enough. I believe the main reason I like you guys specifically is you so really well editing, have good quality content, and overall just come off as truly knowledgeable about your subject matter while also reminding people they should do their own research and not treat you like a one stop shop.

skinnypigs1 I have 5 different reptiles, guinea pigs, ferrets, and rats. Also cats, dogs, horses, parrot, and chickens. I have experience with others, and share most of those experiences through writing.

I have been so influenced by u one such a positive way. I even talked a person in petsmart to not buy those little cages they sell for pigs.. I can't believe people even consider those cages. Poor piggies!!! Any I clean my house more...lol..

I do believe that it's important to show that smaller pets deserve to live the same way that the larger pets do. Just because they are small, does not mean they are disposable. I try to go above and beyond for all my pets *I say as I see my cat has made a bed in my rat's clean liners* I would love to start a channel one day. I think one of the important things that I hear on a lot of pet-tubers videos is that yes they are sharing what they know, but that doesn't stop them from learning new things. New information is always being discovered for the care of all pets. It takes a very open minded person to admit that they are still learning, even though they are teaching other people. That's what I believe.

I have subscribe to your channel to learn how to care for my Guinea pigs. I have a channel to share moments with my pets but mostly to watch and learn from knowledge people such as you. However I have only my iPhone 5 , no good lighting and find it difficult to use the editors. I do not know which editor are good and which camera to get. However now I can get a similar camera like yours but still do not know how to create a trailer, banners etc. Though I am not looking for popularity with subscriptions I do appreciate kind comments and kind recommendations.
Maybe once my car is paid off, I will be able to invest in better equipment. Thank you for sharing it is very appreciated.

I really would love to get a RUclips channel started about my guinea pigs! I have three, two girls and one boy. Two girls I got at Petsmart and the boy was a rescue from a person who didn’t want him anymore. They’re all my babies! I love piggies and I love making new friends in the pet community!
