Guinea pigs are the best. I just rescued one who was neglected for 2 1/2 years and I love him. I made him a c&c cage but need to make it bigger. My pet pig gets along with the guinea pig so well yet they are always suprvised and are never allowed to get to close to each other. I grew up with guinea pigs but our last two passed away when I was in kindergarten and I have always wanted another one and C.J, our guinea pig, is a blessing. I'm sorry about Calvin. He had an amazing life.

Pretty recently both of my two year old guinea pigs, Cookie and Oreo, passed away. I only had them a few months. I would love to get more, but don't have the time or money. I still have my C and C cage with stairs leading up to a little area. That wasn't up while they were in there since I'm aware they don't have the best legs and vision for that. Id hate to take it down. I would like an animal to go in it, do you have any recommendations?
My Grandpa has passed away, but he had some guinea pigs and he said that one was completely blind like willy, but everyday for about 5-10 mins he would rub and massage his ears to relieve any stress. I think you should try it on Willy because it would be good for his health.

Abby I have a question.....So I have 5 guinea pigs all together in one large C&C cage. I don't know if I should separate them though. One of the guinea pigs is always humping the others and it makes the other ones mad. He also sometimes pulls a little fur from their butts and leaves just a tiny spot of blood. But sometimes they all snuggle and eat veggies together and get along fine! What do you think I should do? I really don't want to separate them :( Please help!
They are all boys..... two of the boys were a pair that was together for a year. 2 of the other boys are brothers and have been with each other their whole lives. The other boy was all alone at the rescue where I got him. The cage is 2 feet wide and 8 feet long. I am willing to do anything to keep them together!
That is not nearly large enough for 5 males. I am shocked there have not been big fights. I would be making it much larger (3 grids wide by 8 long) minimum.

A pet store near me was keeping a baby skinny pig and a baby rabbit together and I almost walked home with the skinny pig because number 1 it's not safe to keep them together they are completely different animals and also the skinny pig was a male and I have another lone male skinny pig Otis aka the craziest pig of all he is so cheeky. Loved the video btw you inspired me to get pigs I almost put them in a hamster cage. Glad I did research...

They can come into heat as young as 4 weeks old, most are around 2-3 months. If you have 2 males that don't get a long, having them live side by side is fine.
I ended up buying so many bags of oxbow hay for my 7 piggies and 1 rabbit, So we just bought a huge bale of orchard grass hay. Saved us lots of money (:

Does she live alone? Often solo guinea pigs are quiet.

At 6 months they are to be on timothy based pellets and at about 1 year are out of their hormonal baby stage.

I would make it larger, 2by4's are minimum for 2 bigs, so I would be doubling that at least.

The long wall is around 18 grids or so.
