    This was a good reminder for me to double check my supplies.
    ALSO, I am going to do the recovery food, maybe once a week, so that my three won't fear the syringe...good insight.

    Very nice! There's always something so satisfying about seeing organized drawers and bins of pet supplies. 😍 I like the way you store everything and that cabinet with the bear is really cute! Before you even said anything about that guinea pig making you jump, I was thinking the exact same thing! I've done that too many times with rocks in my hamster cages that happened to be the same size, shape, and color of the hamster. 😳

    I had to laugh when you said that the guinea pig statue on the top of the cabinets startled you the other night because when your camera panned over to it today I also thought it was a real guinea pig for a moment. It really looks so lifelike.
    This was such a good video. I love seeing how others store their supplies. I went to Ikea and purchased a three-tiered open shelf unit for storing many of my fleece items. It's perfect for just grabbing whatever cage liner or smaller bed liners and pillows that I need for each cage cleaning. I used to keep them in large plastic bins and that became so tedious each day when I had to open and look through every bin for whatever I needed. It's amazing how quickly all those guinea pig supplies just add up.
    I really like that large Sterilite cabinet with the drawers. I'm going to purchase one of them for all my other GP necessities. Thanks so much for a great idea.

    I keep baytril, probiotics, gas drops, eye ointment (same stuff you have, had issues with one pig and irritated eyes and the vet prescribed them), ear drops (one of my rats had an ear infection), cat grass seeds (best way I've found to entice a piggy to eat is fresh grass!), and multiple different sized syringes

    What exactly is bumble foot, is it like a darling of the skin and it like looks like it is coming off the body? My guinea pig she has some dark rough skin on her foot and it looks like it comes off I’ve been able to cut it off with nail clippers as the vet recommended but it keeps coming back their bedding is changed often as I have 3 in the same space same bedding and they never had that on their feet only the one does.
    Also when my Sarah was sick she had bad tummy issues and had , had diarrhea all the time never little pellets and I just wish I could figure out what was wrong with her but we had to put her to sleep she needed to be pain free but I thought it was strange that the vet gave me a dog medicine for a guinea pig and after she passed I did so much research on the other diarrhea medicine and it had bad reviews on some sites but it was supposed to be for piggies. I don’t have it any longer as I don’t want to make it seem that the medicine made her sick but it helped for a few days and then she got sick and I gave it to her as prescribed and I threw it out because she was “okay” before I gave it to her I was worried that’s what made her sick

    I'm getting quite a collection of drugs and things for the girls as well. I like that little black plastic cabinet, that's about the size I need. Have you thought of opening all those various bags of hay and dumping them into one tote or mix in with the big things of timothy? That would clear up a whole lot of storage space... I've scared myself with items that I've moved to a new spot as well. You walk into the room and catch it out of the corner of your eye and you freak for a split second. It would have been quite a feat for one of the piggies to get all the way up there LOL

    I have failed at getting everyone to eat Sherwood pellets.(tried for two months) I thought they were so good, but the pigs would not eat them and finally I had to go back to Oxbow. But I have the Sherwood recovery food and that has been a great help. It comes with a wonderful feeding syringe.

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  6 лет назад +3

      You don't have to feed any pellets, there is no concrete rule that says you have to. If my pigs didn't want Sherwood I would not feed anything after the difference I saw switching. There is no way I would go back to seeing bloat and massive digestive upset, I would go without and supplement Vitamin C.
      Did you try taking all pellets away for a week and then slowly hand feeding them each day, then putting them into their dish?

    • @kayesguineapigs
      @kayesguineapigs 6 лет назад

      I can certainly try. Do you use vitamin C tablets to supplement, or veggies? Two of my piggies are off veggies because of soft poops right now, so I use Oxbow vitamin C tabs. Thanks.

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  6 лет назад

      I use only Sherwood products for supplements so that I am not giving any molasses, fillers, byproducts, soy or wheat to the guinea pigs which could be causing the digestive issues. I give veggies that have Vitamin C or have the Sherwood Vitamin C tablets.

    • @kayesguineapigs
      @kayesguineapigs 6 лет назад

      I have two new rescue piggies that never had any Sherwood as I ran out and had to use Oxbow temporarily.
      So their soft poops were caused by what ever the shelter fed them. I called to ask, they did not know what pellets or hay they were fed.All donations are thrown in bins.
      These two fellows were frightened, filthy, and on their vet visit, Doc found cancer in one. I cried so much. I will give him the best life I can as he is not suffering now. When I see any distress it is off to Doc. Also they have been all cleaned up by their mama.
      I will order Sherwood post haste and try again.

      Sherwood Pet Health online or Amazon. You can give 1 tablet a day if you like or break them in half.

    Could anyone give me advice on how to keep my guinea pig hay fresh

  • @cuddleswithcavies9969
    @cuddleswithcavies9969 6 лет назад

    I know you said to keep all your medication until the use by is up but my vets have a habit of printing the use by for the end of the course. So for example is it’s a two week course the use by will be the day after the course is up. So I never keep the medicines. What would you do in this situation?

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  6 лет назад

      I would simply ask them how long their shelf life is. Most should have an expiry date on them.

    Hi Abby I tried for two weeks. None of my five piggies would eat the Sherwood pellets. One of my piggies River just had a stone removed from her urinary tract, so I was hoping they would like it. I do feed them a low calcium. Any suggestions.

    Hey big fan, I have three happy piggies but one started to get a bit of a head tilt, I put a bit of coconut oil thinking it’s an ear infection, but I’m not sure, I just want to get your opinion on it. 💕💕 luv your channel by the way!!!!!

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  6 лет назад

      Head tilt is deadly if left untreated, vet needed asap.

    • @eriathwen1320
      @eriathwen1320 6 лет назад

      One of mine has a permanent tilt, resulting from a brain parasite! Coconut oil won't cure an ear infection, it's really important to have them seen by a vet asap as it is so close to the brain, the infection can spread from the ear to the brain and if not deadly can leave them with neurological damage. I have a Neuro pig myself and it's so sad to watch her bumbling about. Really do recommend taking your piggy to see a vet, could be something as simple as ear mites, but could be more serious. Hope they're feeling better soon!
