Joel Liaw Divine Dragons are immortal. By merging your blood with theirs you gain immense power, but at the cost of your freedom. Their power is overwhelming and can force hosts to their will. This whole scenario is very similar to Loptyr in Genealogy.

2000 years. This was during Marth's Era so 2000 years ago. The 3000 year bit mention in the advertisement of Echoes was mentioning how Duma and Mila first arrived at Valentia after getting Exiled by Naga.

I lost my first few attempts at Duma because My turnhwheel had been used up entirely in the dungeon beforehand.
I lost all mine during the fights with all the hard ass dragons hiding behind the walls, so I fought with Hard/Classic and pressed on to the fight with Grima, there he waited and I remembered that I didn't have any turns left. Fuck, I thought to myself as how to strategize this as I had almost every good character like Tatania and of course Alm to deal the final blow and Tobin as a fucking god like archer with 2 or 1 Dread Fighters. I had stopped the summoning of the stupid ass spectrals 95% through the fight and then Grima was at 10 HP with Tatina's Spectrals and Silque's Spectrals to bait out Grima's hits, leaving him still with 10 HP because they can't hit for shit. I thought that Alm could use this time to use his art and perform the most satisfying kill but alas it had a chance to FUCKING MISS WITH 80% and my Alm was hit with Grima's breath and leaving my Alm with 15 HP. My turn ended and Alm was in his aggro, so Grima initiated his final blow on Alm but had a 95% chance of hitting and Alm fucking dodged it like the bearer of the brand he is. So I tried once more to hit Grima without using an art this time and he fucking did it, he actually landed the hit. I cried so hard thinking how the fuck I just won the battle without losing any units in the hard ass Labyrinth with NO save points and NO Mila Statues and a fuck ton of new rusty ass weapons and food.
when I saw this boss the very first thing I said was "Hello Grima."

Let's not be pessimistic. My call is that if Echoes starts to be a thing, then Genealogy is next (maybe with some Thracia 766 as DLC) and then it will be decided between Thracia as a standalone or remake of Binding Blade, and due to Roy's popularity, the latter seems more likely.
FE7 and FE8 may not be seeing remakes until very long, why you ask? Because they were already released in the west.
Shaginus FE devs actually are prioritizing on a Binding Blade Remake as of now for another Echoes game. If we are not getting Jugdral remakes as of now, i feel Binding Blade is the next best choice.

When I played through thabes labyrinth, and I got down to the door, I started freaking out. I remembered Valentina is the other continent in awakening. I had that moment where everything just started connecting in my head and made me happy

I just realized!!! valm is velentia there is even a temple of Mila in Brady's paralouge and the contenent is the same shape (the volcano is also similar,) and with grima in archenaea that means it is yillese they are even in the same position in awakening. Sorry spelling.

Yeah, that's what I meant, the Duma's gate chapter is also Inigo's paralougue, and the joke I made was SOV was on the 3ds because they had one less thing to make from the ground up becasue they probably had a graphics file or something from Awakening to reuse. That's probably not how that works, but I was making a joke and again, I know about how Gaiden is the original source of that chapter(I also realize my wording was a bit unclear of that, so hopefully I got it across that I knew)

If anyone needs to grind, don't use the xp mission, use the money dlc, because there's more enemies, that give slightly less exp, and they're super weak, the ciphers can kill the enemies easily as soon as you recruit them, as proof, I've leveled all my units up to overclass by this method

I just did my third runthrough of this place today. It was fun!
Did you know you can get the three strongest weapons, Astra, Luna, and Sol in Basements 8 and 9? Low chance of spawning, though... Every rusted weapon I get never turns out to be them.
I know you beat this game long ago, but I just wanted to thank you for the postgame videos it gave me ideas of my team to use in Thabes Labyrinth and I beat Grima. Exploring this dungeon was very fun, thanks for the inspiration PM1

Possesed... or ironically killed while he was writing "Violent thoughts." That's just my interpretation of it. I hate to ruin anyone's theory, but how could Forneus be related to Robin when he was sealed inside Thabes Labyrinth alone, except for Grima that is? Also, in Awakening's cutscenes Lucina heard Grima's voice despite the fact that she wasn't a Fellblood. On a completely unrelated note, it took me 587 turns to get Luna from those Guardians for my Alm Amiibo. The Turnwheel stops working at turn 285, so if you want that bow, you'd better not screw up! Luna is a random drop from Guardians, which means that it doesn't show up in their inventory slot, like Bonewalker Oil. Guardians always spwan on the same Sigil as that one at the start of the battle, and they always drop a Rusted Luna so you'll know what you've got immediately. The problem is that they only drop Rusted Luna 1.25% of the time--entirely possible (like a 1% crit chance) but incredibly tedious. One of the two Sigils above the Guardian spawning sigil spawns Garudas and Vestals. Vestals ONLY drop Rusted Brave Swords, so DON'T BE FOOLED! Garudas have a 0.05% chance of dropping a Rusted Astra. Gaurudas will always drop that particular Rusted weapon (0.05% of the time), so while you're hunting for Luna, you can pray that the RNG Gods favor you and give you that awesome sword. After you've got Luna, forget about that sword, it's even harder to get, which is why I only recommend trying you're luck with it while you're hunting for Luna. Once you know which Sigils spawn the right monsters, have you're other units stand on the other ones top cut off their other reinforcements (without getting in Grima's range, of course). I was planning on giving Astra to my Celica Amiibo if I got it...
Ultimate Shadow its one thing to hear a dragon speak and another to influence the thoughts of someone. but for the Robin/Forneus theory, Forneus gave Grima some of his blood as we know. And Robin is a Fellblood. maybe Robin isn't a descendant, but he sure does have Grima's blood in him, which in it flows Forneus's own blood.
Ultimate Shadow I JUST got a Luna from a P O T on my first try in the dungeon, even BEFORE reaching Grima. Buuut- Alm got critted with a 3% crit chance 36% hit rate on the 9th floor and now I hate my life lol

I like to think that Forneus got..., well, GOT by Grima while writing that message. Because I like the trope in media where a Mad Scientist, or Doctor, gets killed by their own creation. Such as, Doctor Yi Suchong from Bioshock being killed by a Big Daddy, and Forneus being killed by Grima. It's ironic, and almost karmic for these deranged people to be killed by their equally deranged and horrific creations. One of my favorite quotes from media. "It is the nature of men, to make monsters. And it is the nature of monsters to destroy their creators..."

So in timeline SoV is basically a prequel to Awakening... due to grima's birth
And how did the Falchion changed overtime
Kazuto Kun Lucina explains in awakening that the blade was reforged.
There are two Falchions. The one Marth and his descendants utilize, and and the one used by Alm to seal Duma. In actuality, the Falchion used by Alm is actually stronger than the one Marth uses because Naga made it specifically for killing divine dragons so that the humans in Valentia would have a way to fight back against the Divine Dragons in Valentia when they went mad. A Falchion of the same strength wasn't needed in Archanea since she could bless that Falchion at will and also because the enemy in Archanea wouldn't be a divine dragon, it would be an Earth Dragon which in terms of power is not as strong as Divine Dragons in their original form but certainly stronger than Divine Dragons in their manakete form.
All Fire Emblems from the first one to the fifth one are technically prequels to awakening, SoV being the biggest one of course. Not sure about all the others.
The timeline in Marth's world is as follows: Genealogy of the Holy War(thousands of years before Shadow Dragon), Thracia776(happens during Genealogy),Shadow Dragon, Echoes/Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, Awakening.

This was an awesome easter egg and it makes me wish that for the next game, they include a way for us to face off against all the dragons of old with a chance to rest in between each fight
that's one way to tie into Awakening. and Grima was a artificial creation? makes sense since there was no mention of him during Marth's days.
I recently completed this fight for the first time on my first playthrough after many attempts on Hard Casual and without DLC or Villager reclassing. My team was (in no particular order) Alm (1* Falchion), Celica (1* Beloved Zofia), Deen (Dread Fighter w/ 3* Brave Sword) Faye (Priestess w/ Coral Ring), Mathilda (Gold Knight w/ 2* Blessed Lance), Leon (Bow Knight w/ 3* Killer Bow), Delthea (Priestess w/ Mage Ring), Kliff (Dread Fighter w/ 1* Lightning Sword), Tatiana (Saint w/ Blessed Ring) and Lukas (Baron w/ Dracoshield). I only lost Lukas in the fight due to him accidentally being in range of Expiration. Only Celica, Alm, Deen and Mathilda were lv.20, the rest were in the high teens.
Something I've found while doing this is that if you use Mila's Turnwheel it can actually change what enemies spawn where. For instance there was a Blue Dragon that spawned in the bottom left that I was struggling to deal with, so I Mila's Turnwheeled to get a more manageable enemy to spawn elsewhere.

Fun Facts.
1,000 years later, in Awakening, Grima appears. Obviously.
Forneus was consumed by Grima, in other words, he literally became a part of Grima's power. Robin was also a part of Grima, an Avatar of Forneus himself, a reincarnation.
If Forneus died to his creation, he can't reproduce like we'd think, so asexual recreation birthed Robin. This process could take minutes, hours, or even a millennia(1,000 years, Awakening.)
Alm with a V is Valm, Valm is placed accurately on the map where Valentia was. Alm killed Sealed Grima for 1,000 years, Chrom also has Marth's Falchion, which can seal Grima ANOTHER 1,000 years.
Walhart, being a conqueror of unsurpassed strength and convictions, ruled the same kingdom as Alm, and Walhart might even be Alm's descendant, which is ironic, Alm's Overclass is Conqueror(or something similar)
If Walhart is a descendant of Alm, his purpose in uniting every kingdom together would've been to repel the creation that Alm made the mistake in attacking. Thus, if Alm didn't, the East wouldn't be annihilated by Grima. There's a prophecy stating some great evil from the West, Valentia, would be everyone's destruction. Alm could be the BAD GUY if he awoke Grima, and began a cycle he could NEVER fix. His possible descendant, Walhart, would seek to fix it entirely, eventually failing.
The tree at the end credits of Echoes is that tree map in Awakening, the Mila tree.

We know for a absolute fact, there's many connections between the timelines, they didn't need to explain awakening, it was a masterpiece.
If Awakening had no large connections to EVERY fire emblem game, it would be the first main title to cut ties to it's roots. Chrom had to learn to rule like Marth, but Marth had to learn. Every character basically has met one another, etc etc.
Camus/Ezekiel/Sirius is referenced strongest by a child in Awakening, Lucina also slightly referenced him with her mask and attitude for her beliefs.

We got Marth.
Vaike could be... Gray? Hm.

Source? I recall very clearly that it's stated to be only a millennia after Marth. This is definite from what I gather. Not sure about any other information provided, despite the evidence, but the timeline has been stated.
Actually awakening states that 1000 ago is when the first Exalt came to be and ‘slayed’ Grima, and i blieve either Chrom, Lunica or Tiki stats that Marth hasn’t been alive for 2000 years,
Infact in at one point in Awakening Tiki stats that she is 3000 years old and we know that she was about 1000 years old when meeting Marth
Fair arguments, that is probably the case.
-If Tiki remembers her hibernation[it's implied she'd been sleeping, she wouldn't immediately understand her age, or especially the fact Marth died] then that's basis to assume Marth thus couldn't be the FIRST Exalt.
Unless A. It was only a millennia, 1,000 years, from Marth's time to Awakening. or B. Someone became immortal[though I'd count on this not being the case.]
-If the timeline implies it's been far over a thousand years, there'd be definitive evidence of this.
unless we're believing in the contrary idea that perhaps it's been roughly this stretch of time.
-If the first exalt isn't Marth[or potentially Alm... or conceivably IKE, for whatever reason his games take place at the end of the timeline, passed Marth's reign, in another continent, before a great flood] then it stands to reason that the possibility exists.
though I don't pretend to know every single fact. I just argue the possibility of certain events happening certain ways based off of the evidence. You're absolutely right.
The brand of the Exalt is just a Brand that most people who are descendants of who ever bloodbonded with a Naga have. Deirdre from Geneology of the holy war was said to have a similar brand on her forehead.
I swear Grima is secretly classed as a flying unit or something. He doesn't have the "flying" type in his set, but he takes so much damage from bows.
It's a good thing, because it seems like the only damn way to beat him without capping stats since Tobin showed that Archers can potentially just chip over half his HP with a Killer Bow, lol.

I know this is a four year old comment, but an Online Battle system in SoV would just be Dread Fighter/Overclass city. So I think it's a good thing that wasn't a thing. XD
Played it on Hard/Classic until act 3 because my backlog wont allow me to time take time to get frustrated to beat it so I went and finished it on normal/classic
God, I bought SoV when it came out, completed it, and then had celica shot down at the end of this damned Labyrinth... haven't opened it since. Honestly, the fact that losing Celica or Alm in battle immediately gives a game over pissed me off so much

I know I’m late to the party and there’s no real point in asking, but does anyone think I can take him out on normal mode with all level 20 yashas? Right now my only chance at beating him is a luthier with a zweihänder with tigerstance and a 50% crit on average

Grima is post game. You need to beat the game first to unlock Act 6

They aren't the first Risen, almost every enemy after the Fire Dragon mid boss are "Death Masks" aka Risen. The ones you fight with Grima are what I assume are the first Risen he has personally summoned, but the Risen were invented before Grima was born. :)

TheMightyEagle Id Purpose would ruin the atmosphere of this moment. Absolute mystery, "What is he doing here?" and slightly horror with all the Terrors appearing each turn. Id Purpose is a theme of hope, and battle for a save future for Lucina and Ylisstol. Alm doesn't have any reason for awaken/fight Grima, neither does him, he only defends his home. It's a little more bizarre, and perhaps the fight theme (Valldar's in Awakening) resembles more of Forneus? Maybe he could be an ancestor for Valldar and Robin?
I don't think Id Purpose would fit honestly for this reasons (If i have any mistakes writing, forgive me, English isn't my first language)

Samn- -Jamn how especially they take place in the same world and it would be odd not to include info on something that becomes a big issue later in that worlds lifetime
kevin I mean, I was questioning it. I feel this is does fit because it ties with Awakening very well and gives off some cool history unlike the other dumb tie-ins in Fates like the "not awakening" characters. At the same time, the game would be perfectly fine with nothing referencing Awakening and just have a normal bonus. This is a cool tie, but "was it really necessary?" is what I'm thinking.
Samn- -Jamn idk i feel like it would be a good time for it since this is the last 3ds for FE and because this game takes place before awakening IS most likely felt that they has expand the story/set up since changes are when they do come back to this world it will have nothing to with this game's cast/setting

I said this rhetorical suggestion somewhere else, but we should get a sequel or FE game that is one the continent of Valm. I mean, if we get Awakening, we should get a game that either takes place at the same time of the Risen and time traveling events on Ylisse or after awakening. I would like it to be in the same timeline of Awakening, but, the thing I realized is that Awakening has ties with If/Fates, so I don't know how this rhetorical game is going to work. But that, that's my idea of what they should do. Also, if they should make the protagonist the descendant of Alm and Celica like with how they did with Chrom.

Just finished echoes tonight and honestly, I’m probably never going to fight Grima since I don’t want to take the time to grind and even though you managed to beat him without using the time wheel, going through 9 levels without any save points seems way too stressful. Don’t really think the memory prism is worth it
To be honest, I beat the dungeon with overclass units, thought Alm and Kliff almost died from two dragons.
