- Just a quick video on all the things you will need to cam your silverado. Note: this is for 08-up. 07 and down doesn't need the DOD Delete kit and will be cheaper. Also we tried to run a M5 in the vette but he knew not to f**k with the Z.

Don't have to remove heads to replace a cam. Only if replacing the lifters. Removing intake is not required either.

I have a 98 ranger that I swapped a 350 Chevy in, it runs about 400hp, it has a 3/4 raised cam in, it rumbles good, it has full tube headers that run out the side behind the front tire

Just figure roughly $1000 for a cam swap if you're installing the cam yourself, so ~$400 for cam, ~$60-120 for new springs, and $400-450 for your dyno tune.
A lighter ,older truck is always better in my opinion. Early 90's regular cab, about 3800-4000 lbs and a early 2000's 5.3. Good power for the weight. Could easily be pretty quick.

That's funny because your model doesn't even have AFM/DOD. All you literally need to do is remove the front cover and swap out the cam and put a new timing chain and sprocket in there while you are at it. Watch Dinoco Blue if you need any help. Lmao

You can buy an intercooled system for these trucks online for $1000, china turbo, a bit of custom work and you have a blown truck for less than 2 grand. You dont have to pull the motor either.
But a china turbo, last what 3000 miles?
ive got 10k on mine and my truck makes 683 to the wheel. if you have any doubts about cheap turbo kits go look up sloppy mechanics and he will completely change your way of looking at things. dude makes 900 to the wheels on a motor that has 250k on it with a 500$ turbo

I have longtubes to they're provided y pipe to connect back to stock catback with almost straight through muffler , flows nice with the 706 heads , buying tbss intake manifold Saturday , but I heard you lose low end if you do duals I have 4.8 sooo I'ma keep my single exit with the cam (216/220)
my stock 6.2l had 408 hp and ran under 15sec. but i never thought it was fast

sounds great. just did mine 2017 6.2 cam , intake , exhauste, and a tune . best pull was 492 at the wheels . all low and mid range . pulls slow after 115mph. but still fun

Love the numbers, think torque should be a little higher, but you should probably start upgrading the fuel injectors if you are gonna run more stuff, also get a better intake than the stock. What is the mpg like?
Michael Fuhrman mpg is alright considering, but yea I was hoping for some better torque numbers too. Converter will help
The torque is what I love about my 350 Vortec, it really jumps off the line, but it is still limited in the way of parts if you want to keep it emissions legal.
07.5 and up. Mine is a new body style 07 and it has that damn AFM, its god awful. I can drive in 3rd and hold a steady 19-20 mpg easily. so its definitely not needed. Just waiting on tax time to delete it.

Definitely recommend you doing more work yourself. I've learned a lot with working on mine not knowing anything about an ls. I've done a bigger cam, tuner, cold air and exhaust etc. had lots of fun and since I already had an HO I'm in the 400 club... for now. Truck sounds great man.

$1700 for 50HP......a good shot of NOS would have been way cheaper. My 2011 Yukon Denali has 403 stock HP. I 'm pretty sure I can get 50HP with just bolt ons.
Steven Lynch yea those 6.0 motors are bad ass. But it's a lot heavier than my truck so u will need power. I did it because the lifters on the stock set up were bad. So I decided if I'm changing that out I might as well cam it. It's not that expensive either. And I'm probably gonna spray it

jesseltapatio get stainless steel long tube headers either kooks, America racing headers, stainless works or Texas speed performance. Also get a cold air intake. You could also get a cam and finally get a tune and you'll definitely make more than 400hp. Right now I also have a 2016 Silverado I'm tuned right now but I am having my headers installed Monday then next week I will be installing a cam then I will go get a tune. I'm thinking of posting a video of just my truck with the tune and intake and borla atak exhaust.

thomas graham still heavy. I raced a cummins who said his truck made 700hp which obviously was a lie and I beat his ass. U have to put lots of money to make them fast because of how heavy they are. But with the right shit on them they can fly.

dude for 2-3 grand you could found a 99-02 silverado for playing with, and you can learn how to turn a wrench yourself. no-one beside me and my cousin mess with my truck, or his. ls1 engine are some of the easiest engines to work with. save some money and buy a real dd to drive, and learn to turn wrenches, only way to learn is by your fuck ups. every engine builder, tuner anyone that mess with cars for a living fucks up once in a while. that 2gs could of went to a converter and 4l80e swap and gear and locker.lol
