Since I first heard of phantom star systems, I was under the impression that they're there for if/when they want to add more systems. It looks like that's right. I can't imagine how rough it might codewiss be to add systems if all potential spots were already taken.
I’ve been playing nms for a while now but only recently have become active on the community. Oh my gosh, there is so much stuff I never would’ve learned about! Thank you for compiling it all on one channel :)
Cool concept, NMS needs something to encourage exploration more. I'm betting it will be more basic, like a simple identifier that the system is dissonant. Just like green is an emeril system or red is cadmium. Personally I'd like to see a mechanic to examine a planet in the system menu. Click on a planet, spin it manually and zoom in (to a point) to get a rough idea of the the landscape or spot something unique to that planet. Something, anything to encourage planet exploration.
Yeah, in bomber’s video it seems that the purple systems have X and Y designators. What’s strange is that they’ll be the source of this new stellar material (just like the other colored systems) but we won’t need the material to build the drives, so what WILL we need it for? 🧐
I see your point but at any given time, there is a stop to story progression and player character development - that’s all I meant I hope the actual “end game” is measured in decades
Be cool to see cities tho without searching for Trading post or individual buildings. It be interesting too see what they do to Abandoned Space Stations in the game too.
I think cities or large civilization hubs are one area this game lacks. These races are advance to the point of having light speed travel but haven’t developed large areas of settling. Like, settlements are pretty tiny - give me Gek & Vy’keen points of origin.
if you get to the edge (easily achieved by going up or down some 50k ly) there's A LOT of phantom purple stars that are completely inaccessible and are the bumper between the "normal space" and the cloudy nothingness beyond.
Ha, yeah - I’m familiar with that area, though they aren’t truly purple systems. There’s a weird boundary where there are stars you can see but can reach by the map OR save editor. It just wraps you back to the other side of the galaxy. Hopefully we’ll see the new purple systems soon!
I think the void mother is like a negative of a photograph. As the Atlis dies it leaves an imprint of itself in reality, an exact negative, the void. As it dies She grows but the 2 can never actually interact. She exists after 16.
Great theory. We know the events of the great disconnection are happening now the past but if the void is outside of space, then it’s exists out of time as well. So there might be something there
I can care less about some of my bases. Yet half of em are in Systems that have Activated Emiral and Indiam and Copper. Rare Planets like this are a Gem I feel.
@GhostLightXE Will have too see what's next outside of fishing and landing on water. I want to see what ideas they have for abandoned Space Stations. Probably have buy Stations and fix em up yourself like a crashed starship.
Oh yeah! The last time this happened wasn’t that long ago and it was with very little fanfare. My “home planet” has had 2 rounds of extinctions since I built there.
Phantom systems, would be autophage systems, likely requiring the purple hyper drive, which you'll get from a story arc, maybe from the autophage, or somewhere else. We may even see cities.
Phantom systems are currently there - some of them would become purple. The files are currently set to have those purple systems abandoned (phantom systems vary in race) - hopefully they changed this, seems like a missed opportunity. Yeah, we’ll likely get the drive as a story arc reward. We’ve been hoping for cities for some time. Now would be a great time to introduce them, with all the resource optimization they’ve done recently!
@@GhostLightXE I just figure, as the story arc went the autophage are considered the "phantoms" Systems as being "abandoned" by the korvax, vykeen and gek, but not the autophage, who choose to remain hidden. Just guessing here,
I've seen extinct fauna in my lists too. I wonder if there is going to be some component of time in an upcoming update. Maybe a new faction that experiences time the opposite direction that we do. Their future is in the past.
It’s hard to say - we’ve seen a few expeditions with references to time - and we know that time in NMS is universally perceived as linear across the multiverse BUT not ever universe is at the same point in time, so there’s some potential there!
Kinda late to the party, but I think it's also time to discuss the interceptor and exotic starship models in the background. In particular, 'From where?'
@@tenaciousz7 NMSMadeReal on Etsy. He took down his listings for NMS prints, saying he’s too busy to guarantee delivery. I reached out and he said he’s opening it back up for the holidays later this year.
It’s unclear. There are a few new sub biomes with worlds but those biomes listed were direct from the game files. I’m not sure if they are new, upcoming, or obscure existing ones.
Aren't there already autophage space stations? I've run into some space stations with glitched text which looked like autophage text with damaged autophages on them, I didn't have the scanner to show hidden autophages at the time but I'm betting they were there just trying to find another now to check for myself
I hope more autophage parts become available. Some of them wear scrap metal helmets over their heads wich would be a nice alternative for the cloth hoods. And then theres that 4 legged one in the soace anomaly. How cool would it be to have those!
Not to tell others how to play but I do think no man’s sky should do something about duping and the save editor, the save editor and duping makes items far less valuable, I wish there were some items that were the equivalent of a Minecraft diamond in rarity
I would love some legendary loot that you have to grind for in game, was extremely rare, and was separate from expeditions. Give us items that make our characters unique!
I really hope purple systems will be locked off until after we complete the They Who Returned mission. It'd be great end-game content, especially since currently the mission just sorta ends on an anti-climax.
There doesn’t appear to be any indication other than the need for those components to build the drives needed to visit those systems BUT if we learned ANYTHING from Adrift, it’s that HG can easily manipulate any and every system with one line of code. That said, I imagine there will be some additional requirements before accessing this content.

Well, if seems like they hide them to make them appear more naturally occurring/ sporadic. But perhaps they intended them for expansions!
Want autophage space station, please, and maybe add back the hidden back rooms that are accessed by an atlantid key.
Secret faction-focused rooms! Love it.

The concept of "End game" contradicts the infinite concept of NMS

Extreme storm planets in all the stellar colors cover this but I have seen less activated indium than copper in my travels

I just went through getting nanites for scanning all the fauna on a planet, I noticed one went from 12 fauna to only 2 fauna on the planet now

Same with Autophage space stations! Or on-planet buildings, all cobbled together from space garbage - like harmonic camps but larger in scale.
