Happy birthday, Chad. Just a brief history of the 1948 Tucker - the engine was in the rear (Franklin Air-cooled motor) Preston Tucker fitted it with water jackets in order to have a heater, the transaxle was a Cord transaxle (later on during the assembly he had his own mechanics design a transaxle), the car was assembled in Chicago. You should see the prototype of the Tucker in the Swiggart museum in Pennsylvania. You should learn more about the car or you may already know about it. My wife & I rode in Tucker 1052. I have a 1950 Studebaker Champion 4 door sedan. In the movie, Tucker the Man & his Dream, they used a 1951 Studebaker in the rollover scene.I really enjoy watching your show!! Tell Doug, Nate & Queen Jolene Hi from Virginia! Lorin Sloan, Jr. Pearisburg, VA.
Great show, really enjoyed how you went through giving a guided tour of museum. Sure makes you appreciate the diversity of cars and how much man hours put to build these beautiful cars. Thanks Chad and Joelene .
Born and raised in Chicago and this is the first time I have heard of this museum. I have to get there. It is only about 5 miles away from me. I have been to Volo a few times and they also have some great cars there.
Born and raised and only 5 miles away but you never heard of it. You obviously need to get out more, LMAO. Go see it and enjoy it while you can. Honestly I was born and raised in Michigan but i never heard of it either. Go figure 😂
@@kbschulze I wonder what year they opened. I'm 66 years old and even in HS we would go to Volo Museum . I will have to go and check this out. Looks like a great museum.
Chad, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I drove a 1962 Corvair convertible from Baltimore to Philadelphia back in 1966 and on the freeway it crossed three lanes with no input from me! It was bone stock and low miles. The early swing axle Corvairs were death traps! There was no traffic so I didn't hit anything but it was terrifying. One of my favorite comedians Ernie Kovacs was killed in a Corvair. Consumer advocate Ralph Nader was the guy who sued GM for not addressing those safety issues! Great show tour, Thanks!
I owned a "62" Corvair Monza for several years back in the 60's. It was a great car. I never had any handling issues with it and I didn't baby it. My son has a "62" Rampside pickup and a "66" Corsa Convertible with the turbo engine. He also loves both of those. I guess that they were an acquired taste.
That is one of the best car museums I've ever seen. WOW. What a collection and very nice cars. Some of the best I've ever seen. Thank you for the tour guys.
@BruceWitcpalek-ws1rh this definitely the best car collection or museum they've shown us so far. I think. I would have been a kid in a candy store walking around seeing all them cars. Hell I felt like it just watching. Lol 😆
The green dune buggy, the barber shop car and the Batmobile are exactly the style, quality and skill level of Chad... really cool he could see these cars in person. It will inspire him.
Happy birthday bad Chad 🎉🍻🍻🙃 !! Thank you queen Jolene, for giving bad Chad a nice birthday surprise because he certainly deserves it for as hard as that man works !! ✌🏼😎🍻🍻🍻💯🥇🥇
you would like the Carrol Shelby museum and mustang conversions , i am not a ford guy but enjoyed the tour and actually got to see the garage where the mechanics are turning mustangs into Shelbys and the Raptor trucks . this is in Las Vegas .
The flowers on the Barracuda were a factory option offered on several models, the Mod Top option. Flower Power was a thing back then. Good show! I've got some good memories of owning quite a few of those cars.
I live south of Chicago in Illinois and went to Klairmont Kollections Auto Museum a few years ago. A spectacular museum. The movie history speaks of the original owner of the collection. The 2nd floor has some interesting vehicles too.
I own a car exactly like one in that museum...it was one of the most expensive North American cars ever built...they only made 3000 of them, and there are only about 1500 left in the world. Chad knows which one it is, because he gave me a great idea for coil spring insulators for the car.
Happy Birthday and since you're in "Chicago". You should stop by and see "Voodoo Larry". See the great work he does that you seem to bash. Then you can apologize to him for dogging his work and set things straight. 👍
Happy Birthday Chad. I live in the Chicago area. Another good car museum is just outside of Chicago called Volo Auto Museum. Hope you have a great time!
Love your channel and your content I'm originally from Melbourne, Australia, when you go there you should take a drive down the Great Ocean Rd from Anglesea to Apollo Bay The scenery is fantastic
Dear Chad, it was not just one person who said the Corvair was an unsafe car. It was a whole lot of people who crashed them, Ralph Nader, the consumer watchdog in America, even wrote a book about it called Unsafe at Any Speed. The first models (1960-1963) had a swing-axle suspension design which was prone to "tuck under" in certain circumstances. George Caramagna, a mechanic working on the suspension system, suggested installing a stabilizer (anti-roll or "anti-sway") bar, but was overruled by GM management. To make up for the cost-cutting lack of a front stabilizer bar, Corvairs required tire pressures which were outside of the tire manufacturers' recommended tolerances. The Corvair relied on an unusually high front to rear pressure differential (15psi front, 26psi rear, when cold; 18 psi and 30psi hot), and if one inflated the tires equally, as was standard practice for all other cars at the time, the result was a dangerous oversteer. Despite proper tire pressures being more critical than for contemporaneous designs, Chevrolet salespeople and Corvair owners were not properly advised of the requirement and risk. According to the standards of the Tire and Rim Association, these recommended pressures caused the front tires to be overloaded whenever there were two or more passengers in the car. U.S Senate hearings prompted by the book led to the creation of the United States Department of Transportation in 1966 and the predecessor agencies of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 1970.
Man there's so many different museums down there in Chicago I went to a museum down there that was underground and it was a whole city block at night in early 1800s it was cool walking down the brick road. And it was like it was at night time when the street lights on.
While you are in the area you may want to head to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum in Auburn Indiana. Probably about 150 miles from Chicago. It's a very neat place
