    This is the best representation of the Red Wing cigar color online. After a ton of Google images and instagram searches, which depict the cigar color as a dark chocolate brown, I visited a Red Wing store to see these boots in person. I was also interested in the black cherry color, which the store didn't stock, but now I know what to expect if I decide to go with that colorway. Thanks!

    Just bought some brand new 9011s off ebay. They discontinued them in the US. Super hyped on my first pair of Goodyear welted boots.

    Another great video. I love the history tidbits. Never owned a pair of Redwings but they look super high quality. Currently my fav is the Danner Mountain light mid.

    I have both.
    In my opinion the Cigar ages better, developing a better patina, and as you say, is more interesting to look at.
    But...the colour of the Black Cherry is superb when new.

    Just picked up a pair of Black Cherry Beckmans today. Normally would be in a 9.5 or 10 US, but the 9's were the best fit once I got my foot into the boot. Very difficult getting into these due to the gusseted tongue. Once in, completely different feel. Snug on width with nice toe room without any toe touching the top or front. Wore them around the house for past 8 hrs and ouch, the top around my lower leg is painful as well as a couple pressure points on the top of my feet under the lace area. Definitely going to need awhile for break in. I wouldn't recommend slapping these things on and setting about town for the first few times of wear. Love the look of them and can't wait to have them broken in! My employer subsidizes workboot purchases, (sshhhh! don't tell on me for these personal boots) of $100 plus Red Wing offers 10% discount to employees of my employer on top of that, so I walked away with a $350 pair of boots for $215!

    Something is up with the colors. The 9016s are way darker in person. The 9016 in this video resembles the 9013 (chestnut) more. Maybe they changed the model colors for the fall line or something.

    There seems to be quite a variation in colour in the cigar featherstone. Some are sort of orangey brown where others are chestnut brown. I have some of the lighter, orangey brown and they do get darker, just add some brown balm thinly until the desired could is attained.

    I own two of these boots. I started my work life cutting trees and doing demolition work and am ending it behind a desk. I have always owned Red Wings after relying on them for so long. These are true Red Wing boots. They are narrow and very hard to brake in, but they are so well made you will never need another dress boot. Red Wing will resole them with no questions asked. One side note. I actually have seen people on resale sites actually selling their heritage boots used. Don't waste your money on Red Wing Heritage boots that have been broken in by someone else. Once broken in (which is hard with this boot) that's it. They are molded to that foot. Having broken in these boots twice I don't see how they would ever fit another person correctly.

    I have never heard them called that until now but I couldn't agree more. when I'm traveling I only bring 2 shoes. over the years I have learned to pack light. whether I'm going for 2 weeks or 2 months I always leave with these on my feet. each new city I visit I walk a lot almost never take a cab.

    I prefer the more natural look of Beckmann’s or iron rangers. But it has more to do with the way I would wear them. My personality is pretty natural and I guess less polished. I don’t have clothing that would suit the more polished appearance of the Beckmans hah.

    These boots are outrageously priced at (MSRP) $350. I bought mine on clearance for $199. But they're not even worth that much. They're deceptively comfy for the first five days of wear. But become increasingly painful to wear afterwards. Even my knees hurt from wearing them now. It feels like the entire bottom is made of solid oak (even with gel insoles).

    • @bill11222
      @bill11222 6 лет назад +5

      Beckmans are notorious for being a tough break in. if you had done any research, you would have known this beforehand. this doesn't really speak to the quality of the boot. Featherstone leather is a rigid leather. And the sole is also rigid. with regard to price, these are handmade boots that you got for the great deal of $199. Wear them around the house when you can and wear them for short errands during the initial break-in. You really should give them a chance. They're great boots.
