Mai I got my taste & smell back by opening essential oil bottles a few times of day & gently putting under nose and breathe in a few seconds. I used peppermint, tea tree oil, oregano oil, I think I tried some others but it worked!!!!! It was retraining me how to smell things & brought my senses back. I now enjoy my coffee again☕️. Hope this works for you too!

Also we religiously change our filters throughout our house every 3 months and during pollen even more (we as in my husband). And when he replaces the filters I then wash the metal vent covers since they’re having to come off anyway and that way I don’t ever have to get on ladder and dust them. It also saves $$ on buying a air purifier since that’s their sole job is to filter and kill impurities that come from the outside.

Aside from medication and nasal sprays, what will help are room/air purifiers, change the filter often in your HVAC system… and…. Get rid of your carpet. Yes, expensive, but it traps everything 🤢
With the bananas, we’d freeze them too, but we cut them up in slices and dip in chocolate, then freeze (flash freeze first)- aaaahhhmazing!! Use for a quick snack, or add to cereal, ice cream, etc !

I live in Texas too and my allergies are horrible since I was 25. Besides taking Allegra everyday and Flonase the way to go is allergies testing so you know when to be proactive when those things are in season. I didn’t really get any better without allergy shots. I would get so sick every season if the year and now it only happens about one a year or two even. That is how much they have helped

Sounds like something similar i had after covid except coffee taste like sewere water and i smelled a smoker all the time as well lol... its called Parosmia some smell/taste smoke, others garbage or a foul onion/garlic smell. It was awful and lasted months but has eventually gone away. Sometimes if I'm stressed I notice it come back but it's not for to long. I tried the burnt orange (you can find it on tik tok lol) and it worked a little but overall it was just waiting. I've heard of smell therapy that might work for you. I discovered that to late....but i can assure you that I enjoy my coffee very much now... hang in there. 👍

You can use quart mason jars(or in my case large glass peanut butter jars) to store the pea protein instead of those huge jars. When you empty 1, take one from the bottom cabinet. The only time you'll have "more work" is when you switch from teh huge jar to the multiple smaller jars, or you could use cereal-type bins with the pour spout. Whatever works for you in your kitchen. They'd fit in the undercabinet better too.

I have read that a person can encourage their sense of smell to come back after 'rona by smelling 4 different aromas 2-4 times a day. Essential oils are probably the best way to do this since they are concentrated. It was recommended that lemon, eucalyptus, rose and clove are examples of good ones to use - just a deep breath in of each through you nose. I am not a doctor, so you will want to do your own research. Hope you are fully recovered soon.

With the amount of cedar & juniper trees up here in around Dallas - you might check into an allergist for a testing for what is triggering your allergies. My hubby has major bad allergies to cats (almost have to take him to the hospital!), almond pollen & western cedar. Juniper & pine don't bother him.
He take Claritin or Zyrtec along with Flonase - and when he can get some the local produced honey. We travel around alot so we'll be done with cedar pollen soon!

My sense of smell has finally stabilized, used essential oils to help with that. My taste still isn’t back. I cannot taste sweet nor salty. I make a protein shake that I drink every day, adding yogurt, strawberries and a banana to it for nourishment. Other than the shake, I drink water and Sprite. I lost a total of 70 pounds during this, but have regained 20 pounds. Prayers for your healing. ♥️🙏

I dont like those kind of couches because of the attraction of food and liquid. I've seen how bad they get and I have to have fabric couches with removable covers and I still cover the couch in blankets. I got tired of vacuuming them so often and feeling the crumbs 😵. My husband uses his Yeti for coffee and it stays warm forever. Those things are amazing! He has that large solid colored one as well. Holds so much coffee!! ♡ Love this video! Your videos are the best. It is true that food and everything seems to be constantly climbing. Buying healthy seems so unreasonably unaffordable sometimes. It's a struggle for us to have the motivation to eat better when it costs three times as much.

For several years I’ve been taking both prescription Singulair (montelukast) and OTC Claritin (loratadine) daily. This helps a ton, and when I have flare ups that irritate my lungs, I have an inhaler for my lungs, but I really only need it a few times a year.

My husband struggles with allergies and most meds don’t work expect the Zyrtec-D. I could never find it in store until I found out you have to ask for it behind the pharmacy counter!
Also I don’t have my taste and smell back either. I got the Rona in Nov of 2020 and then got pregnant in Feb 2021. Lots of things aren’t tasting the same, including chocolate and peanut butter 😩

    Allergies:
I have tried absolutely everything. I've got allergen protection pillow cases, bed sheets. I wash my hands and face after I got outside to get any pollen off my skin. We vacuum all the freaking time. We have a massive air purifier. We change the air vent filters for hvac on schedule. I try to avoid going outside for spring and summer, and half of fall. We use a hypoallergenic laundry detergent. If my family comes in from outside I make sure not to touch them until they've washed hands/face and or changed clothes. I've done local honey for years. I've tried both humidifiers and dehumidifiers.
The Claritin, the xyzal, the singular, the zyrtek... tried all of them. No substantial help from any of them. Benadryl helps, but I have to take SO much of it. I've tried Nasonex and azelastine nasal sprays. I'm almost a year in to allergy shots, and my body keeps deciding to spontaneously get hives to doses I've tolerated completely fine before. My allergist has no idea why. I also get migraines, bone pain, stiff neck and feel feverish when my allergies flare up, and he's not sure why I do that either.
Currently we're trying a combination of several of the above, and I recently added Dupixent. It's also a shot but it's once every 2 weeks, and it's supposed to keep my immune system cells from attaching to allergens in the first place. Our main goal is for that to stop the hives so I can keep getting the allergy shots with the hope that over 5 years I'll build up a solid tolerance to my allergens.
None of it's doing a great job, but so far it's the most successful combination of meds I've had. I still do all the avoiding things, and I take the nasal sprays azelastine and Nasonex 1x a day, every day. 1 singular a day, advair (inhaler) 2x a day, allergy shots once a week and Dupixent shot once every 2 weeks. I have olapatadine for my eye allergies and 2 others for bad weeks. And we settled on the dehumidifier as being more helpful for me than the humidifier. I also have triamcinolone ointment for skin allergic reactions, and sometimes use that for the inside of my nose, and that also helps a lot. Mucinex is also a staple. I also can't wear my hair down because when it touches my face, my body thinks it's ALSO an allergen because it's tickles. 🤦‍♀️
(We're in TN so it's allergy central.)
If anyone knows of anything else to try I'd love to hear it 😔

Texas Knows Natural Allergy Relief Liquid Drops For Adults! I am in Central Texas and this stuff is the best! It is sublingual and tastes icky, but it works! Also essential oils can help, not sure which ones but you can retrain your smell.

Use denture cleaner tabs in your cup overnight, in the morning they are clean and minty. You can get the cheap ones maybe from the dollar store.

Take Sudafed PE instead of Benadryl!! Flonase or Nasocort nasal spray can help with sinus pressure too.

I have not had covid personally but here in Sweden we were shown a video by the health department on how to get your sense of smell back. You have to train it apparently so it can be done! I'm sure there are videos or articles on this in English. Best of luck!

Awesome cleaning as always ! I was just hoping you had to discard some of the junkmail/newspaper/magazines that were on your countertop (while making sure your adress isn't showing of course). I struggle moslty to discard magazines, but I like paper declutter.

    Hi Mai,
Again thank you for your posts and uplifting energy! About the bananas, actually the darker the better! All states of bananas Have great health properties and when it has lots of dark spots it actually has cancer fighting properties. I don’t see where I can post a picture here but I can PM a picture that makes it easy to understand. About allergies, I live in North Carolina soo Our allergies here are NOTORIOUS for how horrible the pollen is here. No exaggeration I was my car at least 2-3 times a week during pollen season. What has helped me is taking 50 mg of zinc and taking probiotics to get my gut healthier. Now the pollen doesn’t phase me at all. Disclaimer: this is not medical advice.

Try looking up essential oils for smell retraining for parosmia after Rona.

  • @mandych715

Try alpha lipoic acid for the RONA smell. My chiropactor recommeded it and it seemed to help! I didnt get the bad smell and taster until like 3 months after I had the rona. Then the garbage taste and smell started. It was awful! I took the alpha lipoic acid for about a month and i noticed a difference and it seemed to help. Of course when the bottle ran out I never out I never got around to replacing it. But my taste and smell is pretty much back to normal now and that was 3 months ago.

The disorted smell is Parosmia. I had it after Rona too. It does get better but it takes time. I have had it for 5 months and I can now drink coffee again. I hope that you can get that back soon. I also had to pack away my Nespresso machine for about 4 months.

If it’s because of pollen and grasses, use lots of local honey. I have bad allergies when I move to a new area till I’ve had enough of the local honey. Cool with it, put it into your smoothies, tea whatever.
Also Zinc will help with your taste buds and smell.

The distorted smell and taste is called parosmia. My husband and I also have it. We had covid in august 2020. I lost my smell and taste for about 6 weeks my jus did not. Parosmia set in October 2020 and we are still struggling with it, slowly gets better with time I’m about 80% back, but smelling Starbucks at target is the worst. There is something called smell therapy that is supposed to help, but hasn’t worked for us. There’s also a Facebook group for covid parosmia

My oldest son has allergies so bad his eyes swell. Not the lids, the eye ball. it's freaky. Nasacort worked wonders for him. We don't give it year round, only about 2 months out of the year. It was the last ditch idea before shots. luckily it worked for him.
