Hey man. Watching here in Australia and been for a while now, first comment though. Just wanted to say I’m enjoying your unscripted approach, and that you handle things in a way that’s comfortable for you. Authentic. No stage persona. Nothing to prove. It’s refreshing. Cheers.
Yes, a refreshingly, delightful and relaxed approach. Have been watching for some time too - from New Zealand. Agree; good quality cables to compliment a system. Good quality anything, for that matter, always advisable. Tks for the vids.
Yup. Cables absolutely make a difference, but once you find a quality cable you like, you can build your own with high quality plugs and solder or have them built for you. I’ve quoted this many times, yet here it goes again. It goes something like, “We can hear most of what we can measure, but we can’t necessarily measure everything we can hear” - Herb Reichert
@DW11111….And you sir, must’ve mistaken me for someone who cares about your snarky comment or opinion. If you’d have wanted a conversation, that would’ve worked, but instead you came with accusations. Maybe you need to train yourself to know what to listen for. Just because you personally can’t hear a difference (which is usually subtle, btw), doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
I agree with *most* of what you said. Here is what I've found out about cables (from making and selling my own): 1. Cables make a difference. 2. Most of the differences between cables stem from differences in C, L, R, and sometimes Z. For example, if two well made interconnects have the exact same capacitance, inductance, resistance and frequency dependent impedance, they will sound interchangeable regardless of construction and price. So yes, spending $5k on a set of cables is throwing your money away IF you can find ones that measure similar or "better." I put "better" in quotes as electrically better may not always mean sonically better. For example, interconnect with too low if a capacitance may cause a system to sound overly bright. Anyway, been at this nearly 30 years, and anyone reading this is welcome to do whatever they choose with this info. All the best.
I agree more expensive cables give better sound quality. Although the fittings can be better and last longer over time. However, beyond a certain price point ,there are diminishing returns, where there is no improvement in audio quality. Anyway, Its your money, so spend it how you will. 😊😊
You might not think 5 grand on a cable isn’t snake oil but I sure do After a certain point the difference in sound is probably so small it’s not significant For a real nice expensive system good cables are important but to spend 5000 on them is ridiculous because the sound won’t justify the cost
at certain system levels you could say the same things about component changes but even minuscule differences at that level if positive are worth the money for the audiophile. Some have very very expensive systems so 5k and above may be normal for them.Who is to say there wrong in that regard.Peoples budgets do have a big part in these discussions regarding others opinions.I dont know whats right for them only me
Monolith cables all day here. Very reasonable, well constucted. Also use WBC and audioblast, they use mogami copper wire and high end connectors, depending on what youre willing to pay. Not going to let it keep me up at night. 😳
Dave.. Awesome channel man. Honestly.. I am on my journey as we all are.. Just bought a pair of Wharfedale Linton's. So MANY damn opinions on this speaker has me was too curious so caution to the wind. As for cables.. Well.. Mono price 12g. Best I can do bud..
bought em used I hope.If not try and make that transition to used market many great hobbyist and sellers as it is invaluable to have the ability to try new things without losing money.Cannot beat it
@@greatlookinglandscap I didn't.. But I will next time for sure. I'm very very rural and the current price is not used prices but not full either. So ur sayin I;m gonna be sellin these are ya?! ;p
I'm a boring dude l guess ? I still have my MIT speaker cables and interconnects The speaker cable is the dia of a garden hose and the big blocks on the ends l bought them back in 1996 I also have the Pinetree Audio 4 strain (9 ga ) speaker cables with the locking Nakamichi gold banana connectors These are really good quality and nice looking for the money I'm pretty sure Pinetree Audio is a one man show
Gotham cables worked very well in my rig. I’ve made the power cables with there 5055 and some speaker and rca’s. I found them to work much better then Canare or Mogami. Now I use strictly Audiocadabra cables from India! The way he makes his cables especially for the price are outstanding. The new speaker cables he made me beat out Wireworld Oasis,Mogami,Canare and all others I have! Audiocadabra!
I don't use junk speaker cables, but I don't waste thousands of dollars on speaker cables either. As long as they're made of quality wire and gold plated plugs, that's good enough for me. The $5k is better spent elsewhere in the system from my experience. 👌

As for connectors.. Budget wise.. Good quality spade or banana.. And of course considering the binding post.. Is there an answer to which could be considered generally better?
I prefer banana simply as I dont like the possible swivel of the spade and if too close together it could cause a short.Well the connectors same as hifi components you get what you pay for but theres many out there. Some are too tight some too loose even when costly. You will discover this all on the used market and find the happy medium in fit, finish and price.I love the the ETI or eichmann bullet and I love Kimber SBAN bananas.Hey do you see a liitke by the text bar with a dollar sign.Thats for tipping creators like me that actually are willing to help.Any little contribution helps.Surely Im worth a buck or 2🤣
They are! What are your thoughts regarding isolation? I have some IsoAcoustic GAIAs and they completely changed my speakers. I had a cabinet that used to resonate now it no longer does. Bass became tighter, no overhang which allowed more detail to come through with a darker background.
@@greatlookinglandscap A glass cabinet beside the speaker. Certain lower frequencies would cause it to audibly rattle. The isolation did more than fix that issue as well. The speakers sound like they’re floating, suspended in space. Room interaction has decreased drastically.
Don’t do one cable, do the whole battery of cables. It will make it obvious that I did fine for myself why I advanced my cables in the first place. Why I love how my system sounds over my stock cable days.

I found Blue Jeans Cable to be high quality and affordable, in particular the Canare 4S11 Speaker Cable and the BJC LC-1 RCA cables.
