🖤 I just worked out your live stream time difference of 4:00pm PST to AEST is 17 hours. hard to imagine we're almost a full day ahead.. 🤔 ♣man, I've probably had 10 coffees and shaved twice before you get out of bed..😂
🤣
Thanks!
🙏
I'm in the 3255 cult
Is that due to budget resraints?there good for the price
Did you take down your livestream or just not do one?
I did one there on friday 4pm pacific time .Where do you live again? I just delete them after
I think the Magnepans LRS+ are the audio product of the century. I have speakers that cost 5x their price and can't match the little Maggies huge 3D soundstage and transparency. They are amazing and affordable. IMHO Maggies are the real "high-end" audio: no stupid luxury, no crazy prices, no BS, just amazing sound for real world audiophiles.
i agree there great but the amplification must be superb and have real power for them to perform at there best.It equals everything out as there just good value not great as one must spend a fair amount to drive them. The e1x is a full reference system in a box and i have yet to come across a single piece that can offer what this can.Literally 4 components in one that even the fussiest audiophile would be happy with. Its cost is cheap for the simplicity and reference capabilities it offers
Klipsch khorns!
nice
Sounds like a very nice product. I'd try one if I could afford it. Some of my products of the century would be: The Zerostat anti static pistol. It not only lessens static electricity from an lp and keeps dust from being attracted to it like a magnet, but every time you give a zap to your phono cartridge, the sound gets about 20% more open and sweeter sounding. And (the original) it keeps on working, around 50 years later; and it was cheap. Moving coil cartridges. Stealth (brand) cables Cassette decks. My modified one has just passed up my lp playback for sound quality. Not in every way, but in enough ways to prefer it. Smooth liquid sound from factory prerecorded cassettes, you can often get for a buck. Cassettes can be brought up to a level where they will sound as good as a medium priced reel to reel deck. Say, one whose retail price was maybe $800 in the 1980s. Considering the slow tape speed at 1 and 7/8 inches per second and the narrow tape; they are a miracle. A well chosen unmodified deck like a Tandberg or an upper model Nakamichi will surpass lps played back with any $200 phono cartridge I know of, on most lps. Good Ribbon Tweeters. So sweet detailed, pure and transparent. A subtlety lovers dream. NON AUDIO ITEM: For simple and most useful invention of the century:..... the gum band.
Of course the gum band wouldn't count as an invention of the the last 100 years. It was invented in 1845. Some of you out there I'm sure would nominate the golf tee as the best simple invention. It was invented by a black man long long ago. I wonder if they'd make good footers under audio equipment?
Thanks for your contribution.Always a pleasure to read
Thanks!
thanks so much.Always love your info!
Cool stuff. My award goes to the Marantz PM11-S2 integrated amplifier.
excellent!
Yes its the best here's why Googe the...HIFI FET Tube Triode HDAM Dual OP AMP HI END Audio Then this....bel canto integrated e1x circuit Compare the photos on how he recreated the Triode sound without Tubes...
cool brother!
@@greatlookinglandscap I have not been to my AAA meeting's Audio Addiction Anonymous. But when I buy or DIY build some is given to those that want sound or can't afford it. So it's expanding the community . Some of the people have found you on RUclips .
@@thinkIndependent2024I see yes!.I am here for you!
For me product of the century are my Graham Chartwell LS 3/5.
then all that has to go with it.I know the product and owned ls5/9.The reason I chose this? reference complete system in a box
Dave, for me it's about the music and I will only chase gear if it improves my quest for better music. When is it good enough? I like to go to audio shows to get a flavor of sound and listen to music almost daily. There are so many variables in the chase of really getting better sound. If I could bring in different equipment without huge financial impacts that may be "fun" for a while, but very exhausting and probably frustrating.
exausting yes because the brain will always say buy more it will make u happy but never truly does
Luckily I have some hifi stores near me that let me try new equipment at home in my own enviorment. This saves me from wrong purchases and I can also trade in my old gear if I want something new.🙂
nice!ideal!

@@DragnetSoundoh ya white spot and the classic ft long hot dog later on.
The lowest wattage amp that I’ve lived with was a little Japanese 300B integrated pumping out 8 watts per channel into 99db efficient horns. I had no problem with volume levels but the bass was just so flabby. No way could it control the 15” woofers. It didn’t help either that the SS amps I was comparing to had iron fist like bass. If my taste in music excluded bass heavy genres then I probably would have been more than happy living w the 8 watts
indeed.Listening taste can dicate. But I have found in my room and spatial which are efficient speakers also love power. The low power thing is a myth atleast too me.As you say the big drivers need to be gripped!
It's very obvious your room is dictating the volume level. If you're struggling to get past nine o:clock, that's the culprit. We should be? trying to get between 10:00-2:00 to get the best range of our amp/pre-amp.
i know this but different preamp/integrated designs can have very different gain designs and I have proven it in my room
🖤@davewin; yes, I've heard that repeated ad nauseum.. what someone says should be, and what actually is.. are two completely different animals. for eg: @ 11:00 ~12:00 on the dial, my timber walls start to physically cavitate, 2:00 on the dial and the steel roof sheets start to hum..😂 so when I have company or there's kids around, I keep it under 9:00, well under 9. ♣what am I running in the house? 4 bridged NAD M22's (1800W P/C)-(3600W total) into two CV XLS 215's.. sound like a bogan system? ain't no bogans running 4 x M22's..😊🥶
I like to listen music on the couch in night too. Unfortunately my system need Loudness Botton on in order to get bass and fullness at low volumes. My speakers are definitely on the bright side and fullness comes after the noon position. Still enjoy with that vintage Loudness control
nice
I know you stated at the onset of your video that you employ a low production quality but please at a minimum…stop slurping your coffee.
ahhhh.Ok
I totally agree with you, Dave. To me the issue with lack of fullness has mostly to do with speaker matching to amp, and room accoustics. A room that is too lively will make your ears blerd at high volumes no matter how good the amp is. And also an overdamped room will make most amps dull. I see a lot of speakers never driven to theire full potential because of mismatch with amps. Often amps with no headroom will make speakers sound wimpy, that is the most common error, I think most audiophiles will agree - and it is not so much about the watts, it is about insufficient transformers with many of those new amps - they might be buildt for speed, but they can’t always sustsain a full sound image at lower levels.
Yes, very true: Anything more that 9 o'clock on my 50W Naim will launch you through the next room and right into the neighbor's yard. Though @ 70 dB things sound dynamic and punchy, you get there between 7 and 8 o'clock. 😁
yup those were my findings.I just like a little more range
I'd be curious to see how your Bel Canto compares to the Lyngdorf TDAI 3400 with RoomPerfect. A lot of people swear by Lyngdorf TDAI now
owned the loaded 2170.The sound was nice but the room perfect was not impressive after multiple room measurements.Nad dirac was better here.Room perfect just seemed like a bass boost I preferred it off.The canto offers reference level streaming and very high quality mm/lomc phonostage which is vital in my system. It puts in on another level of design integration brilliance .And remember the e1x is basically the entry into there high end but it is fantastic and a destination piece.I have had my time with lyngdorf as for the 3400 just more power in an unattractive chassis and still not as capable. On looks alone I wouldnt buy it as looks matter and the discontinued 2170 was much more elegant
@@greatlookinglandscap Cool you had the 2170 although I've read that the 3400 is a significant improvement in software and sound. As for looks, they are very similar from what I can see
@@khunopie9159No the look is not clean like 2170 was.Just a knob and glass.I loved the look but like the sleekness of the canto even more. But you should try one I have given my opinion on dozens of occasions and own this for a reason. Its a fully integrated system and can run any source at reference level. Both e1x and 3400 fully loaded are exactly the same price.Pick the one thats suits you.Its a helluva feeling to have that in your life
Going to Pacific Audio Show? 😮

Oh please don’t knock my Bryston (B60R). They’ll have to pry it from my dead, cold hands.
do not worry just watch my bryston video a few back its the one Bryston I owned and praised.

Thanks so very much!
Had the opportunity to listen to Belcanto black hooked up to Wilson watt puppy’s. It was playing at low volume and the space was full of music. The clarity of Paul Simon singing and the music being played was an incredible experience. I’ve never been able to actually sit down in front of a system that good. I now have a mission to at own a Belcanto system..and if I can sell my house I might be able to afford the Wilson Watt puppy’s. I can dream can’t I ?
indeed. The bel canto for me being the e1x can be a destination one never leaves

Thanks! It has all led to this advice that I can standby today
Have you ever demo'd Angela Gilbert Yeung?
no but would love to own if I was to start building as system from scratch as I have owned many blue circle pieces.I know I would like it
So, just buy the most average system you can…
do not tell yourself that
@@greatlookinglandscapOh, I don’t. Sarcasm…
D, LS35A's 83dB, 30 W mono blocks. It's a little bit of a caution dance. I use a dB meter on my phone. "No clipping allowed". Best, D
They would love more power.Try it and see.But again little drivers cant compare too large🤷
What can I say, SPOT ON !!!!!
I am one of the few who is content and happy with SE Tube amps 7 +/- watts per channel I am also someone who is not concerned about how other people decide how to spend their time and treasure This is supposed to be fun, right ?
yup no concern here.
What about «bee-watt-amps»? I have 16W (double 300Bs) monoblocks with Tekton Double Impacts, 98,7dB speakers. With a good pre like the ModWright LS100, I get really «punished» when I want to. I’m into multiple systems (I’ve got five in different rooms), that way I’ve got something for every mood or flavour I want. I feel very lucky, living with all kinds of music and gear, and I guess it has made me quite an agnostic when it comes to hifi - I could never be a fanboy of just one or two brands, like I see many guys are.
Everything is great the video is just my preference.I am a one system guy tho but could have as many as I want.I just like it simple.Dialing in one is hard enough
@@greatlookinglandscap Thanks! Great to have your videos and sharing of experience. I hope you are doing well. Cheers!
I have the integrated opera consenace ref mk5 quad 300bs at 18watts. Trying to find the right speakers to match the sweet sound of tubes. Any suggestions?

Can a Class A 22 watts per channel tube amp 6550 KT88 amp with rectifier’s push a 87db 4ohm bookshelf ? Generally speaking of course. Rock on!
well try a proper 100 watt with that. There will be an effortless difference.Even a naim 50w is extremely powerful.Would rather have more on tap than barely or not enough
@@greatlookinglandscap Thanks!
@@greatlookinglandscap "Even a naim 50w is extremely powerful." That's what I run: 50 "Salisbury" Watts out of my Naim power amp. 🙂 Sound nice and dynamic to my ears. Cheers!
You’re absolutely right. I talked about the same thing on my channel that you may have a dynamic range of 26 to 30 DB spl louder than what you started out with you better have enough power to back it up alongwith base slam.
I have no interest.Plus usually space is at a premium and really highly efficient speakers that can actually pressurize a room are really large. Some people think efficient speakers dont need or like power.Sorry I have proven that idea very wrong in my room
That's why I push my Maggies with a 200watt Jungson amp . Lot's of power. Great subject Dave.
@@DragnetSoundyup they love real power
Flea watt amps do limit you speaker choices, you are absolutely right. From my experiences, it is a particular audiophile who goes the flea amp route with speakers that suit that low power output. Like you, it is definitively not for me. There are a few speakers out there though, that are very efficient(95bd+) and have very good power handling capabilities. Daedalus Speakers come to mind. Nice topic.
ya I hate the feeling of “wanting”
0:30 dammit you got me
Tidal is lossy. Trash. Amazon has better streaming bitrate. Apple streaming is the only true lossless streaming service available.
I do not agree with your opinion via Tidal.Cannot speak on the other services as never used them.
I own Siltech Triple Crown as interconnects and speaker cables and they work fantastic. IME nothing even comes close. In the power supply I prefer Nordost Odin Gold. The Siltech Master Crown would be even better but surely I'll never be able to afford them...
Of course they make a difference, in a revealing system ,
I do agree but like with all hifi components more money does not always yield better results. But yes differences are there good and bad regardless of price.Matching is where the battle lies right?
Synergy is everything
Thanks!
You are very kind. Thanks for supporting me🙏

Quite interesting topic - thank you for bringing it up - the addiction... I must be one of these persons for sure... I think about my rig around 75% (?) of my waking hours... Thinking what can be changed to get closer to Audio Nirvana like; acoustics, a better amp, cables, speakers, DAC, power strip, etc?! I could write a book about my journey and this strange hobby, but I don´t know where to start :) All I can say is, if you at least try to be honest, and test a lot of different gear with an open mind, you will learn a lot what really matters and that will get you the closest to a great audio experience. The actual interest for music is the base line, but I do, of course, only listen to well recorded songs to be able to reach an interesting experience. A bad recorded song does not deserve my rig and transform any rig to flat and boring :) It is not about the gear for me, it is about the addiction of getting lost in the sound stage - chasing depth, realism, instrumental placements and immersive play back, but it does not come cheap to get there if you really care and listen deep into the venue and most people does not have a clue what I am talking about - perhaps lucky them :) I am of course always listening in dead center, mostly with my eyes closed to be able to feed my addiction and It is a one man show for sure - don´t lie. I must have some sort of illness when it comes to this hobby and is probably due to something else in my life, but I cannot stay away chasing the rainbow. Ops, there it is :) Cheers!
addiction is bad in any form and progresses worse never better
