very great video, doing my first service for the bayliner after the first season of fun haha. a few things for you readers to denote, when starting have the throttle in choke mode but pump it about 5 times if relatively cold, but keeping the throttle pulled back as far as you can so you dont rev the hell out of the engine. before you even try turn it over, allow the tks valve to open, takes a while but the engine will warm up faster. secondly take off cover or switch on your blower for 4minutes min. then lower your outdrive. this is to prevent the bellows from being put under pressure, turn on water, then complete the rest of the starting procedure. its keys to follow the first few points as if not it could lead to unnecessary wear on the engine and lead to shortcomings in the future. have fun boating guys!

The shavings from the lower unit screw are completely normal and that tells you that your gears are working fine, the oil from your lower unit needs to look normal, but if it looks milky that means your exhaust seal is bad you will need to replace that. When you refilling your lower unit oil you need to bring the unit down. Good luck

Thanks for posting, very informative. You don't have to remove your gear oil reservoir to drain it, the gear oil will drain out from the reservoir when you remove both drain plugs and drain your gear oil. Not necessary to remove the reservoir.

Just make sure you remove the reservoir cap when you drain the lower end oil the next time, and allow it to all drain out through your lower drain plug near the prop. Much easier.

Say goodbye to your U-joints 😉. Never run your engine with the drive in trailer position or all the way up. It puts a huge load to your bearings and u joint splines.
