Thanks so much for the video. Grew up there during the 50s. Southern Boulevard was like Disneyland back then.
You're welcome
There were three movie theaters on Southern Boulevard between Westchester Avenue and Hunts Point Avenue. There were the Loew's Boulevard and Spooner and the independent Art Theater. All of them are long gone and their buildings have been repurposed to other uses. There were good stores in that area and you could get buses and subways to almost anywhere in the Bronx or elsewhere in the city you wanted to go.
@@1575murray Thanks for the info.
At 17:17 is where the old San Juan Bar used to be. It's the entrance of the notorious Hunts Point prostitution area where anything goes. The dancers at the San Juan Bar were all pretty scary hood rats. I read somewhere that Hunts Point has the highest percentage of AIDS cases in NYC. I wasn't the least bit surprised to read this. During the crack epidemic of the 1980s , enterprising crackhead hustlers would ''steer'' you into an empty building and had you ''rat packed'' by their jailbird addict pimp boyfriends. I never dropped my guard long enough to let anyone victimize me. Plus , I was always mistaken to be a cop and that usually served as adequate protection. TY Lord for protecting me from this dangerous element during all those yrs.
Thank you so much for all this information.
