Happy birthday sir!! The bday cake story made me laugh-cry. I bought myself a cake one year. Decorated it for myself, lit the candles, sang happy birthday (again TO MYSELF) and then lit my hair on fire blowing out the candles. Yeah. We all have weird bday stories! 😆 🤣

Those are felt tip pens. The white collar around the nib is to keep the from fraying. They will fray, but not as much as if the collar wasn’t there.

Those pens look like Paper Mate Flairs! I have always loved them ever since I was little. They changed the tip from a full felt tip to the plasticky felt tip too. They're just not the same. But they do come in a bazillion pretty colors!

The AmazonBasics felt tips very much make me think Amazon was trying to not make felt tips like the cheap markers that are made for student art (Staedtler, Crayola, some mysterious Chinese manufacturer that ends up in Poundland & Dollar Tree etc)...but generic versions of Papermate Flairs, which are writing felt tips now available in a heap of colours! I have some really old ones from when they were still made in the US (now Mexico) and they all had those tiny plastic/minimum felt tips. Either way, they looked like fun. :)
