My grandma has had this exact toy for three generations of my family, she still has it somewhere in her home in near mint condition. Glad to see a old one being repaired.
I once had a piece of metal disintegrate in my hands because it was nothing but rust. That was the single most rusted thing I've ever beheld in my life. This toy was the second. Well done!
The restoration is genuine, but it's obviously yet another example of a toy which has been purposefully pre-rusted to create channel content, like the toys on so many other similar channels.
Jon Vincent I have seen that before, but this isn’t like the others, I mean if the guy really has done that, he’s an absolute idiot, ruining a great old 70s toy. But I am a critic for channels like that, and I really don’t think this one is.
As always, it's a pleasure to watch you restore these things. Too many people rush and take shortcuts that end up making the finish less than it should be. Great job !
I love these Nylint trucks. I'm more of a square body Chevy guy myself, but the late 70's Fords are great as well. When I was growing up we had a 78 Ford farm truck with a flat bed. It was named "Barely" because everything barely worked. :) I like it when it is so far gone you can just have fun with it. Excellent job.
I have a few questions...Where do you get these rust buckets? It seems you have an endless supply of abandoned, destroyed Tonka toys! Second, no criticism here but it seemed on earlier restorations you took more time to address pitting, either with filler or high build primer. Now you go right to powder coat after sandblasting. The pitting is still visible under the high gloss finish. Third, did you go to gloss black paint on the wheels intentionally? I would have gone flat black. And last, a general question about powder coating...I have always heard it is an economical way to paint because the electric bonding saved material but just about every powder coating process I have seen, it seems so much of the material does not end up on the piece. It never looks like more than 10% actually bonds.
Had one when little, but the cab and bed sides were white instead of yellow, and trailer seemed shorter, loved it . I wish i still had it. Good job as unusual, thanks for the memories.👍
Talk about a silk purse from a sow's ear - what a transformation! The only thing that didn't work for me was the gloss black tires. Regardless, this restoration is really nice!
Beautiful job. That quick thought hit me. Leave that 1 rivet out of the front of bed and make it so it dumps. Of course the back railings would have to be removed. Love your channel
Not to take away from his restoration skills, but it probably helps that the toy was obviously artificially rusted just to create content. Lots of similar channels seem to do this. Probably because they're running out of genuine old rusty toys to restore.

I saw "John Deere farm truck restored" and came here to watch. Shrinking it down to a small size certainly makes the restoration easy, but how do you make it big again? :)
Watching your videos brings back so many happy memories. When I was little I would sit in my dad's workshop for hours watching him build, eventually helping him as I got older. You do an amazing job, thank you for taking the time to record and share your work.

fantastic restoration. i did notice that the grill piece was pushed away from the body after restoration probably due to the j.b. weld on the spot weld areas. nonetheless another outstanding restore of a great toy. kudos.
There's so much hatred, distrust, envy, outrage and war out there, and yet people from all walks of life, all thinkable color and from all over the world go like "Gimme that media blast thing!" Guys, sounds like we've found the recipe for world peace and happiness... Cheers! And.... blast it!!!!!
I’m always amazed at how rusted these projects are. Where were they left for so long? It’s amazing how the weather and sun will destroy metal if left outdoors long enough. Great restoration!
Well, I would guess back yards, buried in the dirt by little boys, or forgotten in fields or places of tall grass. You know how little boys used to love to play with trucks and cars in the dirt. Or perhaps left in old sheds or barns or other buildings on farms. Or maybe left in damp old cellars or hot old attics. All kinds of places these lovely little old toys could have been left where moisture could get in and turn them rusty. So glad to see that somebody fixes these beautiful pieces of the past! I would be thrilled to pieces to run across the kinds of old trucks and cars that these restorers show us, and try and fix them up myself. Maybe in my metal detecting if the dang smoke goes away before summer is over.

I love your sandblaster and bake oven. This restoration is what they call a Mop-n-Glo.

Always impressed there is usable metal under all of that pitting and rust! 😮
Why is sandblasting so relaxing and satisfying.
The world may never know. But good to ponder.
I cant stop watching your videos. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Very nicely done especially with the original John Deere colors
CUTE!
Good Restoration Done 👌

Thumbs up 👍
👏 👏
The colour scheme looks great! Painting the discoloured plastic of the grill and cab interior was a good idea.
Awesome !!!!!!!! Two thumbs way up , Sir !!!!!!!!!!!!!
As always, it's a pleasure to watch you restore these things. Too many people rush and take shortcuts that end up making the finish less than it should be. Great job !
Glad you like them!
If you don't have time to do it right then you don't have time to do it over. He does it right the first time.
Nice combination of green and yellow. Great service.
Very nice powder paint looks best I wish I had the patience because it looks like a lot of fun restoring these old toys.
Nice Vibrant Colors...Nicely Done 👍😎👍
The green and yellow colors, before the paint dried, looked more beautiful ... but the result was still splendid!👍🇧🇷
I love seeing your show so much thank you
So glad you put back the cheering kits at Blasting Time! Never fails to put a smile on my face.
Great job. It definitely needed the farmer and animals added.
Very nice restoration! So beautiful

Another Lefty! I'm so glad I found this channel.
If this was my video, that thing would be staying a flatbed. Amazing self-control
The additions were fantastic.
When I see those colours, I think of Australia's colours of the Olympic games. Lol. 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘 good job on the restoration.
The big YEHHHHHHH before the blasting is a genius idea.
It shows how deeply you understand your viewers' soul.
Yes yes. Not less than that.

I use to live in Rockford Ill. The original home of Nylint toys. The factory still stands but the brand is long gone.
Nice shiny paint job...
I give this video 4 stars...minus a star for speeding up the sandblasting process.
Had one when little, but the cab and bed sides were white instead of yellow, and trailer seemed shorter, loved it . I wish i still had it. Good job as unusual, thanks for the memories.👍
Nothing runs like a DEERE!!!!great restoration TRGR.

Talk about a silk purse from a sow's ear - what a transformation! The only thing that didn't work for me was the gloss black tires. Regardless, this restoration is really nice!
Enjoy watching you restore these Tonka toys you do excellent w0otk. My two sons got a lot of joy playing with these toys. Have a couple left.
Great restore! Love the John Deere colors and the farm figures.
What a beautiful job. Oh boy that truck must have been laying water for at least a year!!!!
I think so too!
Best yet? Hell yes 👍👍👌👌
Great work. The usual high standard we come to watch and enjoy
I appreciate that!

You were right. The people and animals were a perfect touch.

the blasting was specially satisfying 😎👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Man, talk about starting with a pile of rust ! Amazing the sand b cleaned it so well.

Just awesome 😎. Great work as always.
SOO KOOOOOLLLL.
Mike Espo .
It looks really good at paint job
Buen trabajo le quedo como nueva la troquita ,felicitaciones
There you go. Now it's complete. I like it good job.
You turned it into a brazilian truck. Always a great job!
What a cute calf.
Nice job!
Great job
Wow great job
Good Job! I love your videos
Great restore. Glad you went with John Deere's colors.
Excellent restoration! Classic John Deere truck! Thanks for the video!
That looked better before, but it would just collapse, so this isn’t a restoration, it’s a saviour.
I'm surprised how much rust was just surface level and hadn't eaten through.
I hate to even think this, because I love TRGs restorations, but it looked like manufactured rust.
Its artificial, ionization
That's because its man made rust. Metal that was painted doesn't rust evenly like that over time.
I like the "The farmer's truck" diorama at the end. Nice job thx for sharing.
Another brilliant job! Just love the sandblasting. So therapeutic😀
Thanks so much! 😊
Seriously do you fish these out of the bottom of a lake or river? Glad you gave the JD a new life

Aww,c’mon-pop for a spotwelder next time!
BTW-great vid!
This my second favorite restoration, behind the Seabee restoration. Another very impressive restoration! Great job!
Thank you very much!
Front panels repaired with JB Weld is DEFINITELY a farm repair. :P I know, I've done it before.
That time of the day on youtube, watching restoration👍🏻
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@TRGRESTORATIONS I did.

Good job.
Very nice project. My only criticism is the wheels, I’d have like if you did the centers and the letters in white, but that’s just me.
Wow that’s awesome

Well done!
Thanks for watching!
Ready for the fair
very nice work. Maybe not true to the original, but I think I would have painted the wheel rims yellow.
It looks like it sat in someone's wet basement for 35 years. That truck turned out great!

*Drive it through a cow patty*
You'll get that farm look
...and smell
lol maybe next time
Enjoyed this video, like the colors and the addition of the farm animals at the end, nice touch. Nicely done, sir.
LOVE IT!!!
Is it just me or are the sand blasting segments practically a fetish?? 😂😂 when I saw the amount of rust on that truck I went weak in the knees LOL
Looks great
Thanks!

Hey Tim
Great outcome!
You brought back great memories of my Wonderful Grandpa.
Take care
Question: If you get a "thin spot" after you have powder coated a part, can you recoat that area?
And can you do two colours with powder?
