  • Overlanding BOTSWANA | Okavango Delta & The Moremi Game Reserve | Adventure In the Wet Season
    The Okavango Delta is Africa's Garden of Eden. It's a place filled with mystery at every corner, an adventurer's paradise, and a wildlife haven. This is a destination that we continually find ourselves wanting to go back to. And in this episode, we make the excuse to off-road adventure travel this amazing place.
    Overlanding in Botswana and adventure traveling in the month of February to the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana, isn't alwyas advised when the rain is falling. But, ol Ed and I pack up and make this 18 day adventure one to remember.
    We visit, Woodlands Lodge and bush campsites, make a stop at Nata Bird Sanctuary just outside of Nata town, spend a night at Planet Baobab, and then, finally, we make it to the Moremi where we spend our first night at South gate, Maqwee campsites in the wilds of Botswana. Waking up the following day we make the drive through mud and water to Third bridge, in the NW of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. This is a specail place to wild camp, and we are in our absolute element with widlife sightings and the bush at their best.
    What an offroad adventure expedition, and a big shout out to the ladies from the Xomae group for assisting us with campsite bookings both in the Moremi and the Nxai Pan National Parks.
    This adventure supported by Lacie, Indeflate, and Cross Country Insurance from the financial consultants Netsure.
    Thank you to:
    My mate Ed for helping out with shots and filming. What a trip legend.

      I just hope Screwtube is paying you for ad revenue on your videos. I've just watched this video of yours and about every 5 minutes they had ads going.
      I'm not a subscriber to the channel and i watched it on a device that didn't have a user logged in.
      The reason i bring this up is not to bash you for the ads, but to make sure that you don't get defrauded out of revenue owed to you.

    My wife and I also got lost around 2nd bridge. We went during the off-peak season when the two spoor does not get used that often and gets overgrown very easily. This makes it easy to loose the spoor. It kind of just suddenly disappears on you. We were "lost" for about an hour, driving through tall grass through which we could hardly see anything, let alone follow a two spoor road, and judging by the length of the grass, it had been quite some time since anybody else drove that two spoor. It was a bit of a stomach churner, but I didn't want to spook my wife, so I just acted calm and in control. Was so relieved when we picked up the "main" road again. It's not like you can phone a friend when something goes wrong and you can get stuck for weeks in a spot not frequented by other vehicles. It's dangerous just to get out of your car, let alone walking around to look for help, with Lions, Hyaenas and Leopards around.

    Moremi magic bro!! This place has "dat thin" in abundance.. Was at Xakanaxa in October nd what can I say, absolutely AMAZING..
    This year the rains came late but since end of January/early February it has been pouring down. Saw some pictures of some tourists stuck in deep water just after hitting the gravel round after Shorobe..

    Good to see Ed's 200 Cruiser back on the road ! ! ! Please tell him we last saw the vehicle stripped and him sounding rather peeved !!! Would be good to see it getting put back together - most enjoyed ( only to learn from it ) the story of drowning the poor thing. and what happened there after . It makes for a good and informative story -- forget about the rude comments -- there will always be those clowns out there who think that they know better -- and probably do'nt even own a 4x4 . just keep up the enjoyable side of the adventure -- Thanks Guys ! ! ! ! !

      Exactly, and that’s why I always go in about the heat, but we gotta do what we gotta do to make it work the way we know how. I find a well timed cold refreshment always helps, oh, and air conditioning 😂😂

    • @4x4ventures_southafrica
      @4x4ventures_southafrica  Год назад

      Thank you Mike. Yes, they can but that is allot more work to repair. Infact, I’m interested to know: When did tyres go tubeless? Was thinking about this the other night. I think to repair just a tyre is allot easier, however, these new tyres need some heavy equipment to help dislodge the tyre bead. Strong tyres create for some hardcore graft 😂

    Hello Mr Ryan. I'm enjoying your episodes here in Botswana at Serowe village near Khama Rhino sanctuary. I just finished watching this is excellent production and your explanations are good as well. I love nature. One thing I would like to ask is according to your experience what's the best season in Botswana to see animals without struggling a lot..... Is it summer, winter, rainy etc. I know African bush as you once mentioned is unpredictable....

    • @4x4ventures_southafrica
      @4x4ventures_southafrica  Год назад +1

      Thank you and I am very familiar with Serowe town. I appreciate your support mate. Best time to go, is end of April and May. Just before the bush switches colour and as the cold begins to creep in. Bush is thin, grass is low, and there is still good water beginning to come in from Angola. Animals and birds begin to rejoice. Also August to October is also good. I don’t like the cold, so I have veered away from winter months 🤙

      It happens. I have the same problem and with good reason. It isn’t for everyone to be honest, and if you do manage to go, be very cautious and aware of the wild, depending where you go. A good place to start is the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. It is very safe. There are leopard around the area though, so stay in your tent till 6 am. Otherwise move around with torches accompanied. Make sure your tent is made of canvas. Strong 💪

    I really enjoy this Channel, Great Advice Honesty. And Humble, not anything Bad but I get the opinion Edward is the opposite. I like his input about the water crossing, does it and says straight away WOW that was deep don't do it. Really top notch thanks for the honesty and Advice. Awesome

    • @4x4ventures_southafrica
      @4x4ventures_southafrica  Год назад

      Thanks for your comment, but I think the visuals may have skewed your opinion on who’s who in the episode, no. 1, and no. 2, Ed is not opposite at all with respect to being humble.
      Infact, his advice was to not do the water crossing at all, but, if you have seen the conditions of the bridge in that area, we had to face what we thought was the lesser of two evils. I think it’s hard not to judge hosts of a show, and that’s what we set our selves up for I suppose, but, to judge one’s character is unnecessary, especially by visuals of a show. You are very wrong on your assessment of Ed’s character, and even though you say it’s not bad, it is bad. I’m sorry but your comment is not informed and not appreciated. Both of our priorities are to inspire, motivate and educate. We hope we have done this when crossing water. Support him on his channel

    • @4x4ventures_southafrica
      @4x4ventures_southafrica  Год назад +1

      Yes, definitely not safe to camp under a sausage tree, however, if you are aware, then chose the area with no sausage fruit, like we did in this case. On this particular tree 90% of the fruit had already dropped, but we were still cautious when setting up

    Good morning Ryan. Once again, a great video. Always looking forward to the three of you and your content.
    We were in/passing through Bots about 10 years ago and pans and everything surrounding Nata was completely flooded. The water was right over main the tar road. I have attached a link to a three minute video that I think I might’ve posted it on 4x4 community forum back then. ruclips.net/video/TeYOQJQJHXU/видео.html It’s crazy the amount of water some years. I was ripped off at Nata by tire repair artists. Used them to give back but gave back a lot more than I expected. Could have bought a new tire at their price.
