So, reading from the comments, this was not a real deposition, this was a law school exercise. That explains a few things.

Not one single objection? Her lawyer just sits there and writes crap the whole time.

I recognize this is dated and may be moot but ..
The very first thing said was “All objections will be reserved for trial except for the objection of a form of a question”..I would suspect that’s why he didn’t object during this deposition. 🙃

Prosecutor: And so this last rating, out of 1 to 5 and 5 being the greatest, your rating was a minus 400.
    Melissa: Yes
Prosecutor: Our findings show that you need to pay the company 5 trillion dollars back pay, even though they pay you minimum wage.
    Melissa: Yes
Prosecutor: I want to show you a ton of termination letters here. Do you agree we should terminate you from this deposition?
    Melissa: Yes
Prosecutor: So Ms Monroe, is there anything else you would like to say in this deposition?
Melissa: Yes, um, you need to axe Michelle about anything else about this case.

I think it's fair that she took a half day absence claiming she was sick. Physical and mental sickness are both being "sick". She was depressed and upset - calling it sick is fair enough.
I liked this girl; she took no shit from management and I believe her when she said she was appraised badly for job performance because she rejected advances by male superiors.

    • @imnotdavidxnsx
      @imnotdavidxnsx 7 лет назад

asking "is that fair" is a pretty common phraseology. I've been instructed to speak that way by multiple attorneys long before seeing this video.

Lots of attorneys do this. It is an attempt to gain the trust of the person they are deposing.
If they are just telling them the rules then they look like an authority figure.
If they say 'is that fair' they seem like they asking their opinion and working with them.
It seems a bit patronizing to me. They are the rules whether the person thinks they are fair or not. Just tell them.
