Synopsis: Years after Tommy Jarvis (John Shepherd) murdered hockey-masked serial killer Jason Voorhees, he resides in a mental hospital and struggles with the trauma of the experience. When Tommy moves to an isolated halfway house, he has nightmares about Jason's return, and soon one of the patients (Dominick Brascia) is killed. As the body count grows, Tommy begins to question his sanity and wonder if Jason has risen from the dead. But, to determine the killer's identity, Tommy will need to survive.

Underrated enrty in the franchise, I actually really enjoyed this film.
I hated this movie when I was a kid. Over the years I found myself appreciating it a little more. I’m not sure why but I do find something intriguing about it. I bought the F13 collection back in the 2000s; and for some reason A New Beginning is the one I have watched the most times
I'm one of the biggest jason fans..... I been crying for a jason movie since 2011... it's so sad that they robbed us from the biggest and baddest killer of all time... seems like they killed off jason just to promote michael myers more.

Wait maybe I’m mistaken but isn’t this the one where it wasn’t actually Jason vorhees behind the mask? They thought they killed him but it was someone else. Might be wrong on that but that’s in my thoughts for some reason.

A movie of this nature should be criminal. I bet that every single person who saw this in theaters back in 1985 was expecting Jason.

One of the more disappointing entries of the franchise. The best parts of it is Reggie, Tommy Jarvis, Ethel, and the breakdancing new wave/goth girl. The behind-the-scenes was insanely unprofessional with drugs and stripping involved, however, the film delivered some pretty decent kills before the MPAA took over and butchered the franchise's kills.
