  • This video is on the Vauxhall (Opel) Insignia with the 2.0 litre diesel engine (A20DTH engine code). A common issue is getting a turbo over/under boost, MAF or other sensor issues where the car goes into limp and the engine management light (EML or MIL) comes on. Normally turning the ignition off and back on it will restore for a short time until you generally accelerate hard and it happens again.
The turbo pipes crack and will allow air to escape causing this fault. Typically the crack/damage will be at the back where you won't see it!
Replacing it for the same pipe from ebay:

Intercooler Turbo Hose Pipe Fits Vauxhall Insignia Mk1 2.0 CDTI 13242121, 860118
I'd also recommend getting a 75mm jubilee (hose clamp) for the lower end on the 'u-bend' as the original Vauxhall clamp is almost impossible to remove/refit without damage.

Great video. Followed your video and got the pipe in and out no problem. I had an inch and half split in mine. Cleaned pipe and gaffer taped it up for a temporary repair till new pipe comes. Thanks.

Just saved me a turbo replacement, i had it booked in to be replaced as i was told it was that. After watching this i decided to remove pipe and check, it was split and now its running as it should after a temporary repair (new pipe on order). Thanks for the vid 👍👍

You mention about the scre you have to undo all the way,and spinning to separate the pipe,do you mean the pipe that joins the bent plastic end

Great video. Thanks for detailed explanation. Your Icarsoft CR Pro scan tool looked great. Can you please do a future video on reading “ live data”. i would be particularly interested in your Zafira B(which i have too), which seems to have a problem reading live data on vauxhall/Zafira… I would love to see EGR/ DPF and fuel trim data.. this would make a great video.. thank again, kind regards…

Thanks, yeah the icarsoft is handy. I did a full video on it on my channel RUclips.com/@junkendriven
But I've not got the zafira any more so can't show you the live data it gives unfortunately

hi, I changed my turbo pipe and the car works fine but the service light is still on my dashboard, how do I clear this?

No codes on my insignia 2010 diesel and no cracks on boost hose but loses power sometimes and also sounds like an exhaust leak but nothing detected. Dunno what to do. Don't want to get ripped off at Vauxhall garage so still searching for a workshop somewhere who knows what they're doing if you know what I mean

Hi, good video, I have replaced the pipe on my insignia but I’m struggling to put the bottom part back in to the Intercooler connector. Should I unplug the top, so the bottom part gives me some play? How should it connect at the bottom part. Thanks

It was a pain! Yes disconnect the top to get some leverage, once in place try using a pry bar or screwdriver to lever one side of the pipe in. Once one side goes in the other sort of follows.
      Good luck!
