Bangladesh Army receives NORINCO VT5 light tanks from China

Defense Technology of Bangladesh (DTB) broadcast that a VT5 light battle tank ordered by the Bangladesh Army from China has been unloaded at the port.
The VT5 arriving this time isn't the first delivery. According to the arms trade database SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute), by 2021, China has delivered 44 VT5 light tanks to Bangladesh.
The order for this VT5 tank was made in December 2019, which was officially announced by the Ministry of Defense of Bangladesh.
Regarding the VT5, also known as Type 15 or ZTQ-15 in the Chinese army, is a light battle tank designed and manufactured by the state defense company NORINCO (China North Industries Corporation).
The VT5's first public appearance was on display during the Zhuhai AirShow China in November 2016.
The VT5's main armament consisted of a single 105 mm gun which had a maximum firing range of 3,000 m. During combat missions carried 38 rounds of ammunition.
Ammo options include Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot (APFSDS), High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT), High Explosive (HE), and anti-tank guided missiles launched from the canon.
The missile has a maximum range of 5,000 m and is equipped with a tandem HEAT ( High Explosive Anti-Tank ) warhead capable of destroying tanks protected with reactive armor (ERA).
For increased protection, the VT5 can be equipped with advanced composite armor or explosive reactive armor (ERA).
The VT5 is powered by an electronically controlled 1,000 hp diesel engine mounted aft of the hull and coupled to an automatic transmission.
The tank can travel at a maximum speed of 70 km/h on flat roads and 35 to 40 km/h in off-road conditions with a maximum range of 450 km.
