The latest Chinese tank is non other than a ZTQ-15 light tank, also known as Type 15 and VT-5 for export. Light tanks are a rare sight in modern era, and this one is especially unusual.

You clearly obtained some turret info from CCTV7, but you miss some details. The full version of that episode actually show that the turret is firstly made with a sloped base front armor. The triangle front is outer armor weld in front of the sloped base layer. They never mention if there is composite materials in the triangle space between the 2 layers of front armor, but there is some concept picture of composite armor structure in similar triangle space.

Its for supporting role only, not a head-to-head with the MBT, BUT, it is good enough to support MBT role bacause its small & agile, so it can use hit-n-run tactics. Tanks were never able to fight well against hostile forces alone, and its only become worse. The Sprut and Type 15 fill the role between the MBT and the IFV (able to handle some anti-tank systems, while possessing high mobility)
Also, India can't hope to thrust their tank forces in Ladakh should a war erupt, as the land area is very adverse, they dont have a large ass fight-bomber fleet or a big arsenal of long-range precision weapons to achieve air supremacy and drop their tanks via air, and MBTs won't do very well in the oxygen-deprived air of the high altitude warfare.

The VT-5 and the VN-17 share the same hull, engine, and suspension, and from interviews with the tank designer (which may or may not have been misinterpreted), the VN-17 was the base vehicle, not the VT-5. This means what the designers originally planned was to have both a new IFV and a light tank partner for it with high degree of commonality between them. So rather than call it a loser in a tank competition, it's more likely to have been a completely different concept that the PLA rejected because they didn't need yet another AFV family regardless of how much better the 34-ton VN-17 was compared to the Type-04 family.

Russia sees more profit in china than india, and thus has started to lean more towards china. Putin also talked about a military alliance with china, which is real bad news for India. India is also trying to make it's weapons (which is rather slow:( ). due to this our reliance on russian weapons in the future is bound to decrease. and india not having any commercial goods to offer to russia, while china having a lot of it, just pushes russia away from us.
Plus due to the Border standoff in Ladakh initiated by china, India has automatically been pushed closer to US. another reason for this is that quality of Russian weapons is not good, and these weapons require a lot of maintanence, which eats up a lot of our defence budget. I say India should stop buying any weapons, and make our own as we have the capability to do so. we have our allies to help us in case china decided to invade us, which will be dealt with the same force as china will use against us :D. It makes sense for them. The entire Abrams family of tanks is in the process of being replaced, and USMC M1A1s are some of the oldest Abrams around.
With F-35 and other upgrades to amphibious ships, the USMC has never had more strike options than they do now. At the same time, in exercises US Army Stryker Brigade Combat Teams have displayed a high degree of anti-armor capability in a light strategic mobility force without proper MBTs.
The look of the USMC, with the quantum leap in native strike capability with F-35 and more heavily armed amphibious ships, is that they are going to use the Amphibious Combat Vehicle program to move to a more lightly armored force similar to Stryker BCTs. This is generally in line with the shift in the Marine Corps to being more uniquely focused on amphibious operations and quick reaction, rather than being a second Army with an amphibious flavor.
They are simply leaving heavy mechanized combat with MBTs and heavy IFVs to the Army, and returning to their roots.

The jump up to 50mm might be seen as a compromise in place of a 105mm tank gun, especially if they spread lots of anti-armor weapons across the force in the dismounted troops, on infantry carriers, and dedicated anti-armor vehicles. I know that the Army has big problems with the durability of Striker mobile guns while firing 105mm, I'm not sure if the SuperAV that the ACV is being derived from is more mechanically suitable.

The Chinese packing so much high-tech sensor equipment into Type 15 is in part a sort of test/learning aid for technical integration (and use) of these systems. The Chinese are currently working on an Armata-style next-gen MBT plattform with a two-man crew, unmanned turret and significant increases in sensor systems and their integration and automatization. Makes sense they'd use earlier projects like Type 15 to gather potentially useful experience for that.
In terms of mobility, the thing that stands out for Type 15 is that it has a p/w-ratio of ~30hp/ton, which should be immensely useful when traversing hilly or mountaineous terrain.

Ok, time to point out your mistakes.
    1. ZTQ-15 and VT-5 are two completely different tanks developed by two different institutes. The majority of the footage shown, as well as the thumbnail, portray the VT-5, not the ZTQ-15.
    2. There are two versions of the ZTQ-15: a base version, also known as the parade version as it was seen during the national day parade, and an upgraded version. The base version does NOT have ERA as the additional armour mounted is applique armour. It also does not have CITV and instead has a commander's sight similar to the one found on the Type 88 MBT. The upgraded version does have ERA and CITV with a 2nd gen thermal imager. It also has an upgraded RWS that can mount a 35mm MGL and a heavy machine gun at the same time.
    3. China has 105mm APFSDS that can penetrate ~500mm. So technically, the ZTQ-15 has better firepower than the Indian T-90s with their mango ammunition.
