details? its more less a video about a few silly plugins and edit changes, nothing else I can see..no info about problems with plugins, especially the most popular ones that are found for free (if you get what I mean) s it would be nice if someone made a real video instead of been the first for weeks to have a copy from apple cause I know this video was not made on the fly., logs update literally just came out and its even illegal in some European countries to be sponsored like this as its misleading.

Excellent update! When Apple finally adds Protools like audio editing features and functionality in order to bring Logic into the 21st century in that regard, I'll be very happy to use Logic as my only DAW for music production.

The slip tool will be fun to add variation. I still wish they introduced more for guitar oriented genres. The Drummers feature is still the biggest leap in GB/Logic in my lifetime that set it apart.

Nice updates! I’m still waiting for being able to perform slides in MIDI easily and even slightly change the pitch of MIDI notes to match a slightly out-of-tune instrument that was a good performance.

The Updated Pitch Correction Plug-in is excellent! I can't believe how good it is.And it doesn't distort the vocal like some of the other 3rd party auto tunie apps do.

That mastering assistant is a great addition. I updated to 10.8 earlier today and found what seems to be a fairly major bug. I opened an existing song and noticed playing it parts were missing. This included studio drums and summing track stacks. Looking deeper into it I saw the meters on the missing tracks were moving but it seems they were not going into the buses or the buses were not going into the studio drums track and the summing tracks. Changing the output of the tracks in studio drums and the tracks in summing track stacks to Stereo Output got them playing but then it does not let me change it back to the buses they were going to. Recreating the studio drums track and the summing track stacks works fine but it's a pain to have to recreate them since I use summing tracks a lot because I find them extremely useful. Any clues to what I am missing or what is wrong? Ventura 13.6.1 (22G313)
NIce compatibility update with iPad version and workflow improvements. Guess Browser enhancements, Automation editing improvements with skew function, track and plug in search, ARA, advanced export stem options, some type of Cubase Control Room will be saved for future versions :) Sample Alchemy is crazy though!

LOGIC IS MISSING A BASIC FEATURE that would be welcome for anyone who does a lot of editing. What is really needed is to be able to edit midi notes and audio regions both in the arrange window. That would be ideal, however at the very least if the split window format is needed, it should be possible to be able to have the zoom function for both windows locked together. It is sooo clunky to edit in the two windows with the zoom settings unlinked.
hmm, not showing in my MacOS updates as of 6Nov2023 but looking fwd to it.
Thanks for the video Chris. I read that it's only compatible with MacOS Ventura and the newest one (which no one with a right (audio) mind has installed.) I didn't upgrade to Ventura (which lasted only for 11 months) because not all my plug-ins / virtual instruments were compatible yet. I hope I can still install Ventura and the new Logic 10.8 after bouncing some virtual instruments tracks.

@@bluebird1954 According to the App Store, 10.8 requires MacOS 13.5 or later. I'm using Monterey and it doesn't show an update button for me.
Is it me or does the updated Pitch Correction plugin sound so much better and cleaner? :)
I'm still a beginner with Logic and just started this year but I am wondering. When I do the update to 10.8 on my Mac, will my saved files and songs from my current version work and play on the newer one or not? Any advice would be much appreciated.

*Why Logic Pro Rules* is the Mastering Assistant for only stereo mixes, or also for Atmos? It would be so nice on Atmos to be able to get it exactly to -1.00 and -18 LUFS!
i can only use the clean preset in my m1 mac mini. all the other versions are blacked out saying these require apple silicon i thought the M1 was silicon?

Its tough to hear with pre mastered samples. Try some analog recorded projects.
How do you update? it is not showing in app store updates
My problem is I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with the Monterey OS and I can't load the Ventura OS into this older MacBook Pro so subsequently I can't update my Logic Pro 10.7.9 to 10.8 as it requires Ventura. It looks like Apple is forcing me to buy a new MacBook? That's not right. Anyone know how I can upgrade to Ventura? There should be a safe workaround?

Very frustrating that i had to uodate the OS (as it has broken a couple of programs) BUT playing around with the Mastering Assistant today.... It is VERY promising!! Will save countless hours. Bravo, Apple!

It’s a vocoder. And yes you can use it with any vocal but you have to program the chords

everything and they still didn't give a pitch automation for audio samples or in quick sampler.
I wish Logic could add a built in plugin search and a midi file audition. That’s why I still use Ableton Live. Their search bar is so quick and organized, everything is on my fingertips.
PlugSearch 3 is an add on for logic that does that, its amazing, I can't imagine logic without it at this point
Yeah I use plugsearch for this but would be nice to have something similar built in to logic. I really like the other updates on this release.
I’ve just tried to update (Mac version) on App Store and it tells me I’m up to date even though I clearly have the previous version. Has anyone else had this issue?
Antares and every pitch correction plugin manufacturer’s definitely gonna copy that neural pitch detection mode
its a bit disappointing that if you'd like to use all the "Character" features in the mastering assistant you'll need the Apple silicon

When testing out the mastering assistant, it will only let me use the clean preset. All other options are grayed out and says, “must use apple silicon”. I’m running logic on a M1 MacBook Air. What’s going on here?
It means you can't be running Logic in Rosetta mode. That's why it says “must use apple silicon.”

I tried out the new Mastering plug-in on a project that only has six tracks (and very few plug-ins - a bit of eq here and there, some compression and some reverb. All of a sudden I kept getting system overload messages. I had to up the buffer size from 64 to 128. But how is this happening on a Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra chip? And the CPU usage doesn't really show above 25% or 30% on any of the 16 cores. I'm not running anything else while doing this, either. [First Logic update which has given me trouble.]
After speaking to Apple, it seems to be a plug-in compatibility problem. Re-scanned all plug-ins and everything seems fine now.

You likely aren't running the necessary Mac OS.
@@alexbreyer6921 Meanwhile I was able to upgrade. I‘m sure I was not informed correctly by the Apple supporter, the upgrade was available, I just didn‘t choose the correct way, which I found from another RUclips video.

You could be running the app in emulation mode rather than native M1 mode.

I use the Waves NX plugins to compensate for a poor studio environment. Would this mastering plug-in go before the NX-CLA (for example) or after?

Before - the nx has to be the last thing in the chain. Take it off before export - and I wouldnt use NX for Mastering - try it and you will see why (gainstaging)

The NX is last in the chain. You just have to remember to deactivate it on the export... I'll typically go with NX, then no NX and back and forth a couple times to get a overall idea on the mix. Ultimately, I want it sounding as good as possible on the crappiest speakers/monitoring as possible. Just my method to the madness.

I cant understand why the mastering plugin is not available for Atmos. Wasn't that supposed to be the next big thing?
Real atmos doesnt work in logic (9.4.1). Its quite obvious that a Stereo Tool working with 2 channel inputs (L/R) cant handle 14 or more. To explain it the easy way… its just hella difficult to write without fucking up the atmos balancing.
Of course it's obvious that a stereo tool can't handle 14 channels. I'm disappointed they didn't provide an Atmos-ready plugin. If you mix through the plugin, you would compensate for any imaging issues with compression for instance as you prepare a mix.@@Dispoboy1
I understand. i guess there is a Reason only a hand full of record studios provides Dolby atmos upmix mastering. What you ask for would be quite revolutionary, we‘re Not there jet. But one can dream i guess 🫡
Apple is trying to disrupt the Atmos business lane by making users learn their Spacial Audio and eventually projects will be showcasing that.
This lack of support for Atmos would seem to go against that idea. If they were actively trying to promote Atmos, surely they would have supported it with an Atmos mastering plugin as well as a stereo one. It would have been a huge coup but they missed a trick there or so it seems..@@alexbreyer6921
Great video - but I would definitely show macOS first with all the deep details then move to iPad version. My 2 cents - 0 interest in iPad.
Beware, tt won't open my latest project, sent the report to Apple. No idea why that is, but other project files open fine.
Found the issue: I disabled the plugins folder to eliminate all plugins (I temporarily renamed the plugins folder). Then the project opened! The ERROR log was indicating something with ARA, which for me can only be Melodyne! I had that on one track so I removed it and saved the project. Now it opens without ERROR. Whew, I did a ton of work on that project and was really unhappy that I might have lost it. :)
I’m very impressed with these new features. However, I still prefer to stick to Mojave. There’s still a lot of 3rd party mastering assistant plugins and “beat breaker” plugins that are just as good if not better than these. Impressive though!
Just a note on the Character... the only option for Intel based Macs is Clean. The other 3 are available with Apple Silicon only
This is disappointing. Also disappointing is the requirement of macOS 13 minimum. Which I am not a fan of, hence moving back to macOS Monterey (latest update). Finding it a great deal more stable for my 2018 Mac mini and my Audio interface (Waves DiGiGrid D)

Yeah, if you are on Intel you are left out. If you have silicon, you might be running on Rosetta, which in that case just open Logic in native.

Eh. I'd wait to update if you haven't already. I've been having nothing but problems. Plugins not working. Weird glitches. Maybe wait until they work out the bugs.
Logic Pro is great and all, but it would be really stupendous news if they provided these latest updates for Intel based Macs. As it is, it seems like another excuse to get people to buy new computers just to get the latest software (which I already paid a couple hundred bucks for).
I highly recommend upgrading if possible, I got my M2 for only $1000 (my powermac was almost $6K) and it's the best computer I've bought, aside from some typical Apple bs with some plugins
what year is yr intel?, i upgraded from a 2012 imac to Mac studio m1 last Oct. You get more fancy software but bugs etc are still there at a higher level :)
I thought they weren’t available for Intel Macs, but it looks like it just came out later in the day? I updated, but I haven’t had a chance to look at it. But since it showed as 10.8 in the App Store, I’m assuming it’s all in there.
I got an 2018 intel macbook and it works just fine. Alot to ask for in an 5 year old windows pc in comparison 😅

I have a project in work and I applied the Mastering feature to see what it does. It sounded great, but when I tried to re-record a track, the latency so bad that it was unusable. I couldn't just turn off the Mastering plug in; I had to remove it from the stereo out channel. So don't apply the Mastering feature until you're DONE recording everything. I'm running a Mac Studio with the M1 Max and 64 GB of memory, so it's not that I don't have enough computing power.
Did you press L for low latency mode whilst recording?
@@Rialas I did try using low latency and it eliminated the latency problem. But it also disabled all my other plug ins that I wanted to hear.
In the natural workflow of making a song, mastering is performed after all the recording is done so this isn't that big of a deal. But I was surprised that the mastering plug used so much computing power.
I guess that's why that's a mastering plugin!
That's good information to have. Surprising you can't bypass it to do an overdub.

I’m really curious how the mastering plug stacks up against a top professional mastering engineer. If i had to guess it would probably beat an inexperienced engineer but not beat a seasoned Grammy winning pro. I’d love to see a shootout video.
Analyze any of the top tracks, NONE are mastered to -14 LUFS, most between -9 to -6. The new Beatles is literally at -6 LUFS

The new update displays the wrong bpm in the tool bar ! The latest version! They tried to blame it on my erm multi clock but proved themselves ( a supervisor at apple) wrong until they gave up and left me with three choice’s reinstalling the erm plug in ( which we did and checked to see if it was seeing correctly on other devices and it’s indicated nothing to indicate it was not working properly. If the erm detects a bpm of 119 Logic is displaying 120 ! It started doing this after the last two so called updates that broke the daw ! It just keeps getting worse and worse with Logic on Both platforms now ! 20 grand to run crapp software ! It definitely doesn’t rule period ! What it does really well is waste time with major bugs one after another . Sure if you only use Logic and nothing else jack off with key commands that are too many and impossible to remember completely. The tech supervisor I spoke to said he couldn’t even remember a third of them ! You must hav a photographic memory! But you constantly claim these lessons work but they are all key commands. It’s a joke on everyone who believes it a bad one ! But it sells lots of computer huh? Logic is to complex and over designed period✌️👽
