Thanks Chris. I love that little trick of using the Compressor graph to show the effect that Chromaglow was having. I guess you could use that trick in other analysis scenarios.

sounds much better off. much more dynamic. with it on you lose the bass somewhat! but i can see that it could work for individual tracks!

Dang! It sounds fantastic. Thanks for leading a dive into ChromaGlow. I could see my self using the Analogue Preamp if I have a source track that's sounding harsh or brittle. Instantiate the plugin and bring it up until the top end sounds sweeter, like driving into a tape plugin.

Thanks Chris. I enjoy your content. I have used Logic for 20 years (when it was an Emagic product), yet I still learn something from each of your videos. A topic I hope you cover one day is how Logic auto manages signal routing tasks. I've always found the way that Logic autocreates aux tracks and busses to be confusing and annoying. Is there a way to disable that?

That’s a good plug-in that logic pro added. I’m glad they added that plug-in. I don’t know what’s the magic between it, but it does makes it sound nice tighter and cleaner.😊

Nice video. You always do good stuff.
Honestly, in most of these examples I can hardly notice anything. I bet if I played with and without for anyone who isn’t obsessive about music production, they’d say the same.

Thanks Chris! I think it really is an underrated feature of ChromaGlow, to filter the low and high end to taste 👌🏼

Thanks Chris. Question for you, do you have video on which you share your vlogging VO settings? I dig your sound. Also, thanks for the years of exceptional Logic videos. I’ve been on Logic since Emagic, XSkeys, Platinum, PowerPC etc. That said, every one of your videos is masterful and I learn so much. Thanks for spending time improving the audio community.

Pretty cool plugin. I will post later, as an OLD pro about this one and the Mastering Assistant. Hey, Chris, I have a question. Recording midi drums in the “multi-channel” drummer. After Logic does a click track count off, I start a manual count off (you following me?), but the first time I hit the keyboard, it is way behind the grid. I can hit a key (that will be way off-time), and then allow another measure of countdown and start over, and all is well. Even in low latency mode, that first input is late and off grid. U have my Emil, so if this is paid advice please let me know. I understand

I recently moved to a better computer and Logic 11.I am amazed at how few of my third party plug-ins are necessary.
The bass here is very Cure !

I love ChromaGlow, but it's lack of oversampling or ADAA makes aliasing a problems in certain cases, which keeps me using other plugins for saturation. Great video!

Granted I’m watching/listening on my Television… so it’s not like the speaker is great. But, in this listening environment there is absolutely no difference in the before and after examples. They both sound great but the same. It begs the question, since most people aren’t even listening to music on something as good as a television speaker (ie they’re on a cellphone) does any of this minutia even matter?

Hate to say this, but I preferred the mix without the ChromaGlow. It does sound a bit more cohesive with it but it also dulls the high end and it loses some depth.

Vocals get buried with the chroma. Only the acoustics need them and maybe kick and bass

I like Chromaglow I do think it sounds pretty good and was for sure a step in the right direction but there is a lot of aliasing in the plugin unfortunately so I don't use it often. If I want a quick distortion effect it's my go to but if I want more subtle saturation that builds up in the end I prefer to use something that doesn't have alising issues. I just find my top end gets harsh and smeary if there is too much aliasing.

Hi Chris, as you say, “The effect is subtle” and too much so for my untrained ear.
What DID PIQUE MY INTEREST was how you got the Studio Piano player to hit on “and” of various beats.
I’ve tried to make it do this sort of push and failed, so far. But you, as usual, have nailed it! (Maybe it’s following rhythm from another track.)
Any tips or something to add to video on Studio players?
    Thanks for your continuing generosity.

Great video, but I was distracted by the Session Drummer and Session Bass and chord tracks. I feel I’ve been ini-dated with these new AI features since Logic 11 came out. Don’t get me wrong, they’re excellent tools - especially for beginners - but I was expecting real musicians in your demo. I’m interested to see the diff chromoglow makes on acoustic audio recordings.

    • @KellWhitlock
      @KellWhitlock 19 дней назад

I feel like the session tracks were almost designed for beginners. Not that you can’t get professional-grade results from them; it just simply hasn’t reached the point of analog-level fidelity that a live recording captures.
I’ve been using Logic and producing music for about ten years now, and the Session Drummer has been my saving grace (I don’t operate out of a ~studio~, so it’s pretty rare that I get an opportunity to track live drums, unfortunately).
All that being said, I always end up doing a lot of work on the MIDI so that it doesn’t sound so obviously robotic (sample replacement, humanization, etc.). But I’d imagine that ChromaGlow sounds about the same on acoustic recordings as in this video; so long as you’re conscientious of the room noise that could contribute to additional harmonics (which could be mitigated by EQ-ing before saturating, but with everything audio, it’s a case-by-case basis).
If you haven’t been too into the session tracks and newer features since version 11, I’d at least encourage you to experiment with the Stem Splitter. It isn’t perfect by any means, but I’ve been having hella fun with it.

If logic would add a real reverb, that would be good.

Ridiculous that this doesn't offer automatic level matching. Shouldn't need to dick about with the Level Out every time you try a new setting.
