His loyalty to mediocre players is England’s biggest downfall as a team. If the head of the snake isn’t working properly, how can the rest of the body?

  • @rianz_d

Southgate is not a good or bad coach, he is just an average and safe choice. Expecting England to win something under his leadership is a daydream.

It’s crazy, Harry’s positioning is what causes him mistakes that some people say are “unlucky”. If a boxer gets knocked out it’s not luck it’s understanding where your position was wrong. But for some reason we overlook that with this guy? It’s not personal it’s Just visible 😅

I'm pretty sure if Southgate stopped picking him for England he would push for a move out. So Maguire knows he doesn't have to play first team club football, can relax with the high salary he's on at United and gets called up for the national team. So it's a win-win situation for Maguire and in this way Southgate is indirectly contributing to the circus at United as well.

Southgate reminds me of Ole. Both are ready to back Maguire to the death. Even if it leads to their downfall and the failure of the team.

  • @taylo2079

I heard Neil Warnock say on TalkSPORT this morning that the only reason Southgate keeps picking Maguire at this point is so he can give two fingers to his critics, kinda “I’m right, you’re wrong” mentality.

  • @Nucl3arSsnake

Harry maguire had a great performance the other night! He really stepped up and scored a vital inspiring goal for Scotland!

I actually feel bad for Maguire because it’s Southgate who’s the real problem when it’s clear to everyone he shouldn’t be playing over Colwill or Tomori yet he continues to pick him which is ridiculous. Your setting up a disaster just by playing him… Southgate is a big cause in this problem.

Talking about a player who has made countless errors, posted personal stats after a loss for his club, no accountability for mistakes and blaming others, and cups his ears after FINALLY sticking the ball in the right net.... if you ask me, he's brought it on himself. Southgate in the mud for picking his fav's. Own it waistcoat.

I’m Irish so I’ve no skin in this situation, but the talent in that England squad is frightening. But, having a squad full of elite Champions League players will only get you so far with a Championship level manager. Harry Maguire wouldn’t get in to the Ireland team ahead of Nathan Collins and John Egan.

  • @roboi2241

Southgate is responsible for Maguire becoming the most reviled player in English history, Southgate is the bully in putting this player into the lion's den (pardon the pun) when the odds of calamity seem to shorten by his mere presence on the pitch alone. This situation now seems to smack of some psychological turmoil related to Southgate's own public humiliation and history as a player. Like he's using Maguire as some kind of healing factor in his own psyche whereby he imagines Maguire somehow at some point taking a winning penalty in a final and healing Southgate's personal soon to be 28 years of hurt from Euro 96.

  • @chrispalmer7893

The problem with Southgate is that getting us to a final made him bulletproof despite that final being the best example of why he's not good enough. Yes, getting to a final is more than most of his predecessors have done, having got us there he completely failed to manage the game. He wasn't able to convert a half of dominance into more than a single goal lead, and he was painfully slow to react when Italy took control of the game in the second half.

  • @juliantsenkov1585

I lost some respect for Maguire when he turned down the opportunity to prove himself at West Ham because he didn't want a pay cut. I don't he deserves to play for England now especially when other players like Tomori don't receive any chances.

  • @jdcpt6486

Can someone please lemme know a reason why Tomori isn't starting for this England team? Literally won a Scudetto and went to a CL semi last year, what more can the lad do to get a start in a friendly vs Scotland?!

  • @mattbillington4602

People saying maguire is good for England, the only games they can quote are against San Marino and Andorra. He was at fault for a france goal in Qatar, he was miles out of position for the zinchenko goal, an own goal last night. He is not a good defender. It is a disgrace to defenders like white tomori Konsa and many others who do play regularly

  • @user-mq4hr1ly4b

thank you mark, Southgate is trying to gaslight everyone into thinking their opinions were wrong and based on “bullying”

We’re at a point where the England squad has a case for being arguably the most talented in world football, Maguire isn’t awful and he’s overhated, but he shouldn’t be getting a sniff of that team

  • @Jbrindley06

Lewis dunk was brilliant last night. The favouritism is unreal. The same applies to Henderson and Phillips. Bowen and JWP are examples of those who have been robbed of a place

  • @false9footy

As an outsider looking in, England have an abundance of talent at every position. Southgate really is the only problem with the squad. If you had a proper manager, you'd be a force to be reckoned with.
