Absolutely shambolic, standing on what is essentially international televsion and saying that Kova tackle was not as bad as the Curtis one. The Kova tackle is reckless and dangerous and is done with significantly greater force than what happened in Curtis' incident. @jaykafei4815 Howard Webb is corrupt. VAR is not being used to correct mistakes in the game, it's being used to protect the on field refs. That is NOT the point of VAR. PGMOL should not be involved in VAR at all, it should be a 3rd party, completely independent group running it to keep the refs honest.
@@jaykafei4815Emphasis on 'trying'... If a doctor tries to save his patient but makes massive mistakes that lead to death, is that good enough for you?
In the gusto incident there’s no mention of the fact that he plays the ball first so why does gusto and Curtis jones both get red but Kovicic doesn’t. That stinks of corruption in favour of Man City. And where was Michael Oliver officiating the week before. UAE who back City. Corruption at the core of football.
Oh shut up with the "They are favouring Mancity" narrative. City has also been at the receiving end of controversial calls against them. Hwaang should have been sent off in the Wolves game and maybe City wouldn't have lost. Isn't webb one of the refs who gave numerous controversial decisions in favour of United during Fergies Era? Officiating in England has been awful even before oil money came into play and VAR is now exposing the rot.
The truth will probably come out in a few decades when it no longer matters. Yes United benefited hugely from refs in their era and now it's City's turn. Money talks. Would you really put it past City's owners?
Glad you mentioned the Aston Villa - Wolves game, no one else has spoke about it that ive seen, I couldn't believe that wasn't given, after they looked at it again! too soft, any push or involvement from behind Ollie Watkins at that moment was a foul! He was literally pushed off course when his body wasn't stable at the moment of his shot. No push and he could have secured 3 points for Villa, the Refs are ruining the game.
Hey, at least the decisions against Liverpool and Arsenal get coverage. Mark has not even mentioned the game featuring the worst refereeing of the weekend - WHU vs NEW.
Wish more prominent people in football like yourself would talk about the state of our officals. Keep up the great work, hopefully it will make them take note.
Last week, I stood with LFC over the VAR and referee scandal because I knew it would impact other games. We didn't have to wait long before we saw a repeat of the PGMOL fiasco but with Arsenal and a very dodgy Man City side. I'm afraid the blatant corrupt decisions against Man City's closest rivals brings into quesion their so-called historic treble.
Wow, cliche as it sounds, you're definitely the first United fan I've ever fully agreed with on football in my 30 years of life. Your opinions are absolutely spot on - must be a generational thing
It seems one of the biggest VAR problems we have in the PL is that the approach the PGMOL took to it is one of ''its a work in progress'' rather than ''lets make it the best we can from the offset''. The result of this attitude is that the fans, players, coaches and clubs feel like the PGMOL just makes up the rules as they go and they are right to feel that way because this is, effectively, what they are doing. Like Mark says, how was it not a thing, from the beginning, to say out loud the decision you're confirming after saying ''check complete'' in order to avoid miscommunication? That sounds like a basic radio-communications principle two guys on a job site with walkie-talkies would understand the importance of. Furthermore, the fouls and handballs are looked at with an inconsistency that is baffling. Identical incidents will deem 3 or 4 very different interpretations based on who the ref is and which game it is. The handball rules modifications are a joke to begin with, but the complete lack of consistency makes it 10x worse as a handball in one game wont be in another. Some of those handballs awarded you really sit there and wonder ''what would the player need to do to avoid that, play with his arms taped to his body? How is a modification of the handball rule paired with that refereeing approach make for a better football game let alone one that is more fair?
People will slowly get fed up with these decisions and lose interest in the game cos they're trying to change a simple enjoyable game with lots of silly changes just for the sake of it..I.e..kickoffs.. kicking backwards now...why??..goalkicks??..you know there's more!..And there should be a salary cap!🤨👹
I don't really understand the 'clear and obvious' defence. Was the Curtis Jones tackle not being a yellow 'clear and obvious'? But Kovacic tackle wasn't 'clear and obvious'? I'd prefer both tackles were yellows but we need consistency.
Agree with you Mark. Everyone is so insecure they don’t want to be overruled. Look at how replays are used in rugby and the NFL and implement some of their procedures.
Well said. Keep this up please. Keep banging the drum about this inefficiency and the inadequate way these decisions are swept under the carpet and never called into question by non journalists. Get Mark Charles Albert Pougatch on the job, he takes no prisoners.
Martinelli vs Wolves. Michael Oliver had no problem ruining the game that night in 15 secs with an unprecedented decision of two yellow cards. Gimme a freakin’ break
The main thing for Webb is simple: Liverpool don't get the points. He was willing to speak to Owen because he did play for United and anything that hurts Liverpool makes Webb happy. Anyway you look at it, VAR's decisions against Liverpool were deliberately aimed to hurt Liverpool.
Gusto completely wins the ball. That send-off still confuses me because he wins the ball a good 30 frames before the contact. It wasn't even close and his legs have to go somewhere. Yellow would be the worst case in my opinion.
It amazes me how these referees don‘t even seem to care their making horrible decisions every week. I couldn’t sleep knowing I‘m making gamechanging mistakes and do my very best to improve.

Do u know the funniest part of it is Kovacic did it twice ,minus touching the ball , Gusto and Curtis touched the ball first.something they could even give as yellow cards ,, Kovacic two tackles were more than worse
Mark why are you the only person properly tackling this issue??? Its incredible that no other media are challenging the mess. Its ruining football for me at this stage. How can we have this much technology now and the game be worse than I ever remember it and I'm 52!?
Well yea decisions were still wrong and we still moaned about them but the issue is that the overall refereeing quality has dropped heavily, more mistakes than ever are being made, more subjective decisions are being seen as wrong than ever before and now we have VAR making significant errors aswell, it's not even about var or not it's about accountability for how bad the general referring quality is and it is terrible.
I've noticed a lot of people bemoaning VAR saying get rid of it after the liverpool goal v tottenham debacle but the on field decision (which was a very straightforward call to make) was offside (incorrect) so although VAR failed terribly by not overturning it getting rid of VAR doesn't solve that, the standard of officiating is just absolutely rock bottom right now and VAR is exposing that week in week out by shining a light on it
Once again, Mark siding with the beautiful game we love and not the pgmol overlords like most pundits. One week you are giving two controversial red cards in a high profile game the next you don't want to give a red card to impact the game. Zero objectivity, zero accountability. The impunity is going to get to them.
Thanks Mark. Great content. Given scale of your audience and voice now; would love to think you could get many of the supporters clubs on board to lobby and petition prem league and pgmol. Judging by comments and subscriptions to the community and channels, you’d get hundreds of thousands of signatures if not millions for petitions. Like they have to raise questions in parliament if get certain number of signatures. I know there is a lot going on in the world and ultimately we are talking about football and a game. But still this shrugging of the shoulders mentality and nothing will change approach needs to stop. We know collective fan power is immense. If we turned off our sky subscriptions or now tv etc even for a month and signed up to support through supporters organisations they’d have to take notice. Goldbridge saves football. Keep up the great work. For context I support Liverpool, but I subscribe to all you channels including utd Stand. Always balanced even when you are not if that makes sense. Top man.

Seriously happy that Mark has branched out into talking about the beauty of the game, high quality.
Not Owens fault he didn't ask his own questions, rather the questions he was told to. This is how they defend the PGMOL
Owen has always looked like a thoughtless wonder in broadcasting anyways.
Should be someone like Jeremy Paxman grilling Howard Webb, not just Michael Owen nodding along
Yeah you’re right. Webb is only doing this to try and make PGMOL look better. They’re not interested in actual transparency or being genuinely questioned, he’d never do it without agreeing the line of questioning first. It’s pointless and annoying.
Mate to be fair, anyone would have told you before any of these shows happened that Michael Owen would probably be the worst person to do this. Coming from a 29 year old Liverpool fan that idolized Owen as a 10ish year old.
Disagree, I'm far from an LFC fan but I'm the biggest fan of Stephen Warnock when it comes to questioning these stupid refereeing decisions. He would have asked those questions like he did vs that bald clown who shows up on sky every Monday just to defend his mates. PGMOL is a disgrace.
Absolutely shambolic, standing on what is essentially international televsion and saying that Kova tackle was not as bad as the Curtis one.
The Kova tackle is reckless and dangerous and is done with significantly greater force than what happened in Curtis' incident. Had Ødegaard's foot been well planted, that cound've been a season ending injury for him. The most you'd ever get from from the Curtis tackle is a bruised chin.
I find it infuriating that there are so many bad decisions every week that we now miss because there’s simply too many.
Hard to keep up at this point
I completely agree with what you said. Refs are being arrogant and try to justify errors with rubbish excuses.
As a lifelong Liverpool fan, I don’t know what Michael Owen was doing there.
Lets not forget he played for United.
@@mcdoogledutch2994Owen is on that referee show because they pay him m8 basically 🤣 and the reason why he doesn't really get stuck into howard webb ie the line of questions is because he ain't allowed to he is only allowed to say what he is told to pretty much that's how I see it the funny thing is about that show they have made that many poor decisions this season half an hour wasn't long enough to get through them all anyway was it 🤣
He could not sell cheesy owen linekers crisps either.
Well done Mark for speaking out, personally I agree with almost everything you are saying, keep it going you are the voice of the fans at the moment
Well done Mark, these refs have been getting away with stuff for years, only to get backed up by their mates. Another one was last week, why wasn't the Brighton player carded when he deliberately brought down a Liverpool player in the box last weekend? Yeah the ref squad are finally being called out, and they dont like it. Thanks Mark.
Mark your leading this fight and we’re all with ye 🔥🔥🔥
Mike Dean: ''Players dont know the law of the game''
Howard Webb: ''Our refs may not follow the law of the game because we dont want to impact the game''
FCKING WHAT!?
But then theyre sticklers for the law when it comes to stopping the game to award a goal- see the mike dean vs merson nonsense-
Players DO know that when they score and are clearly shown to be onside then, according to the laws of the game, a goal should be awarded!!!
Oliver didn't have any issue impacting the game when he sent Martinelli off for 2 yellows in the same sequence of play. Funny how it changes from week to week even from the same refs.
@@Amberle38 Of course
Mike deans words are just an excuse for refs incompetence
It's not incompetence, it's negligence. They know how and why they're doing wrong, but refuse to self-correct.
Which points to the referees having something to gain from their direct negligent behavior. One day the lid will crack open on this, how many of them are crooked? Taking bribes in one way or another? Placing big bets somehow? Or something unseen?
Its neither. This is exactly what they want. Fairness is not a metric used, money is. Controversy sells 💰💰💰

As Micheal Owen opens the show saying we'll be talking about the VAR goal you can see Webb in the background smirking.
Webb is the worst person for this job.
Interesting to see if kovacic carries on making such tackles throughout the season
Webb is a disgrace
Why? He's trying to do his job, he only just started it.

Officiating in England has been awful even before oil money came into play and VAR is now exposing the rot.
as a liverpool fan it aint about favoring specific club there are too many mistakes made by referees in every single pl game

It's so crazy that basically every week we have to see absolute trash decisions and then a joke of an explanation. That's just life now.

How is a modification of the handball rule paired with that refereeing approach make for a better football game let alone one that is more fair?
i just can't picture what will become of football if it keeps going like this
People will slowly get fed up with these decisions and lose interest in the game cos they're trying to change a simple enjoyable game with lots of silly changes just for the sake of it..I.e..kickoffs.. kicking backwards now...why??..goalkicks??..you know there's more!..And there should be a salary cap!🤨👹
I don't really understand the 'clear and obvious' defence. Was the Curtis Jones tackle not being a yellow 'clear and obvious'? But Kovacic tackle wasn't 'clear and obvious'? I'd prefer both tackles were yellows but we need consistency.
😮you got this spot on Mark. The league depends on the refereeing , who is luckiest 🤔

Martinelli vs Wolves. Michael Oliver had no problem ruining the game that night in 15 secs with an unprecedented decision of two yellow cards.

Jones and Gusto both touched the ball during making their challenge, unlike Kovacic, and that has to count for something. It's madness.
Gusto completely wins the ball. That send-off still confuses me because he wins the ball a good 30 frames before the contact. It wasn't even close and his legs have to go somewhere. Yellow would be the worst case in my opinion.
@@Disco_Teksame case with Jones, he won the ball. I don't know how Kovacic still in the pitch after those 2 fouls

Do you guys remember life before VAR. It can't go, just improve how they can use it.

Var just allows corruption
Well yea decisions were still wrong and we still moaned about them but the issue is that the overall refereeing quality has dropped heavily, more mistakes than ever are being made, more subjective decisions are being seen as wrong than ever before and now we have VAR making significant errors aswell, it's not even about var or not it's about accountability for how bad the general referring quality is and it is terrible.
Yeah, the people using it are the problem
I've noticed a lot of people bemoaning VAR saying get rid of it after the liverpool goal v tottenham debacle but the on field decision (which was a very straightforward call to make) was offside (incorrect) so although VAR failed terribly by not overturning it getting rid of VAR doesn't solve that, the standard of officiating is just absolutely rock bottom right now and VAR is exposing that week in week out by shining a light on it
Never let this go Mark!!!!! Lovn your stance on this 💯👊.
