Hey guys, STK here back with the playthrough of GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK PS5. Please like, comment, and subscribe. Enjoy the gameplay!
God of War Ragnarök is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will be the ninth installment in the God of War series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game will be set in ancient Scandinavia and feature series protagonist Kratos and his teenage son Atreus. Serving as the finale to the Norse era of the series, the game will cover Ragnarök, a series of events that bring about the end of days, and depicts the deaths of some of the Norse gods, which was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Æsir god Baldur.
Taking place three years following the events of the previous game, Fimbulwinter, a great winter that spans three summers, is drawing to a close which will begin the prophesied Ragnarök. Kratos and his teenage son Atreus begin to traverse the nine realms to seek out a means to prevent Ragnarök while attempting to uncover answers behind Atreus' identity as Loki. Their journey will lead them to Týr, the Norse God of War who was previously believed to be dead. Their conflict will lie with Thor, the Norse God of Thunder who seeks revenge following the deaths of his half-brother Baldur and two sons Modi and Magni; Odin, Thor's father and King of the Norse Gods; and ally-turned-enemy Freya, who seeks revenge following the death of her son Baldur.

It's kinda hilarious how the real Tyr was just vibing throughout the entirety of the game.
in another comment section here: exactly, similarly that I just said.
To think that Odin kept him alive
Bruh they really trolled us with this lmaooo
Even more when you realize the gang was originally thinking of going exactly where he actually was, though theu changed theirs' minds and went for Svartalfheim instead.
Yea but that cost brok life
What a headache. One moment Tyr is dead and now he's alive. Turns out him and Kratos have more in common, not really staying dead.
That's what put the titular name God of War in the first place.
Odin lied, big surprise. There would be no reason to tell them to stop looking for them if he was dead. Meaning A) Tyr was always alive, or B) Odin wanted them to find "Tyr" to fool them. Surprise surprise, mega manipulator would say CORRECT to both of those statements.
A God of War classic

So Odin set Kratos, Atreus and Mimir on a wild goose chase to find him disguised as Tyr to avert their attention away from finding the real Tyr? Holy shit!
Odin is smart asf, but even if tyr never showed up the battle of Ragnarok was still led by a god of war
Odin was also likely using the actual Tyr as a source of knowledge and how he acted and behaved while he was pretending to be him.
@@cromugus which is why he tried to charm his son. Which was a mistake, funny eh? his inaction would have been an action to avoid all that but due to his paranoia and his obsession with knowledge ended him.

@@Aki-kh2qe-StreetKidZZZ I feel like if Odin did nothing, Atreus would still find tyr either way, cuz that's what Ragnarok is all about, you can't stop it from happening, once Odin thought that he blocked any possible way that would led to Ragnarok, it found another way, like when he imprisoned a god of war, another god of war came into play
Damn, Odin really does deserve an oscar. Dude played Tyr incredibly well.
Almost, he made fake tyr a wuss. Smh
@@johnpaulcastillo8403 I think playing a broken Tyr was more beneficial for his plan.

@@mr.trouble827 I mean he was adamant to stop Atreus from finding Tyr that it's easy enough to guess that he's still alive~ If Tyr was really dead, Odin had no reason to waste his time disguising himself as Tyr just to throw them off~
It's kinda sad that the gang was already contemplating going to Niflheim at the start of the game as it was Atreus first idea to check it based on information he had. In the end though they went for Svartalfheim which seemed more likely. Unfortunately what they found there was a fake one.
it was the perfect place
This prison was on Asgard.
If they went to Niflheim at that point it time, they would have found nothing.
The only reason why the real Tyr got to Niflheim is because pieces of Asgard got scattered after Ragnarok.
Holy shit ! I though we will never gonna see the REAL Týr , he done so many things for the Giants and tried his best to unite the Nine Realms, alone. Its a shame he couldnt participate with us in the final fight.

my thought haha
Ok this just blows my mind, he is actually still alive and that ruthless bastard Odin actually spared his life ? No way this is Sindri's evil prank on Kratos to get him as "blood payments" as Thor mentioned...
If this is real Tyr, I can't begin to imagine the PTSD Sindri would have upon seeing him.
He's probably too powerful for Odin and Thor to kill without serious injury to themselves and jeopardizing Odin's plan. Or Tyr is just too dang nice that they don't have the heart to kill him. Tyr is the nicest of them all after all.
@@adam-bf8li killing tyr would change the prophecy, which means odin would no longer be in control.

So.. in 2018's GoW we hear Odin killed Tyr for aiding the Giants. Then the trailer for this game shows he's actually alive and imprisoned. Then we learn the Tyr we rescue was Odin in disguise so we would assume Tyr really is dead after all. AND THEN after the game's finale we just find the real Tyr anyways? So incredibly random it's honestly hilarious.
It feels like a troll or Easter egg which is something that does subtly occur sometimes in GOW games
he's probably going to be important for the next game when they introduce the next pantheon
All the dead people are revived including the ethereal beings like the Valkyries in order to deal with the special event of Ragnarok so Tyr being alive again isn't a big surprise.
What is surprising is that Odin kept him alive and Tyr was imprisoned somewhere else where Kratos would never find him until later.
@@xxx_jim_the_reaper_xxx well if tyr was killed then the prophecy would change meaning odin would have no control over it. That would be the most likely reason

Odin who is impersonating Tyr most likely deceived Kratos' group in order to infiltrate and gather information and get Atreus/Loki to trust him.
This is the real Tyr, he sounds more self-assured and calm rather than the freaking out of his mind wet blanket Odin disguised as Tyr was acting when Kratos and Atreus found him.
Maybe he`s having a temporary amnesia because he wanted to forget everything, but the time Kratos said his name he somehow knew he know him, maybe because he was the one who brought Kratos to midgard.
that could be an explaination why he isn't all that shocked or emotional, if he somehow lost a lot of memories and been trapped here he probably wouldn't have anything to drive him to join in

Cant say its tyr but we can say its faye since faye mentions that kratos and her were at each other's necks at the beginning of their meet plus kratos remembers fighting someone with 2 wolves
The drawings showed Tyr went between realms and he even went to Greece so it’s no surprise he’d know his name especially if it was in the middle of the chaos he was creating
@@Zladiian Tyr's Temple is his collection of history from distant realms. There was an Urn with Kratos depicted on it, meaning Kratos was likely already legendary by the time he encountered Greece.
2:12 So good to see acrobatic Kratos again
for a big guy he is agile
That's why Odin is terrified and takes over the role even they assume knowing that Tyr is dead but still Odin is terrified when Atreus is searching the real Tyr
That could be the case but i think odin is more likely takes the role and disguised as tyr so that he can spies on kratos and his gang and gain valuable informations regarding their next moves. I mean before the ragnarok happens, Tyr was safe and sound imprisoned in the depth of asgardian prison in asgard, which no one can possibly reach at that point.
Game devs were like “how can we mind fuck with the players?”
Other dev: let’s make it out that Odin is disguised as Tyr and reveal it after something dramatic but later on in the game, we reveal that the real Tyr is actually still alive in a side quest.

Thank you for this. I am so glad that after playing the second game, people really wake up to the atrocity of the actual plot line lol.
So many people tried to defend the garbled mess, but it literally makes no sense. The only thing that gave the new games value is truly the nostalgia of the fever dream and the Kratos/Atreus, father-son bond.
Hopefully they really don’t try and do a third game as people are anticipating, because they really need to just Kratos rest in the nursing home energy they made him harbor lol.
“Kratos is stronger” Don’t show that at all. Besides flipping the temple and moving the bridge.
“Kratos will have new moves” All they did was give him a spear, his old chain moves and executions back…
“Kratos will show his rage” Literally doesn’t show his rage at all, they’re more like childish tantrums.
All in all, they put Kratos in an old man coffin and profitted off selling lies. No matter how anybody tries to slice it

Same here, but it's kind of sad that atreus didn't have a chance to meet him in person and the fact that the real tyr himself did not take any role in the event of ragnarok or even in the entire game for that matter.
I wish we had the real Tyr throughout the whole game.
Would be too easy and not much as tense
It will be easy win for us. The plot twist is crazy
two gods of war.....
That would defeat the main purpose of the story. The God of War combines forces in order to defeat the Asier. And that god of war is not the Norse one as he's already played his part by saving the giants. God of War 2018 was Atreus's journey, Ragnarok is Kratos'. It's the reason why Faye made them embark on the journey to Jötunheim..
what was the real Tyr gonna do? Hold hands in a circle and protest wishing for peace? He was ultimately an irrelevant hippie

I love the subtle romantic note they ended the game on with Kratos/Freya. Even if they don't start sleeping together, they at least cohabitate and stay close friends, so we know Kratos isn't going to be alone with Atreus having left the nest. Plus, their reconciliation arc was beautiful. After this ending, I totally ship those two.
I get such a delightful bump of happiness when Freya says, "Our home is in the Realm Between Realms for the moment." Our home. Not "we have a place to stay."
Totally agree!
I think she meant our as in the survivors of the war, honestly not a fan of romance for the sake of romance. Kratos just lost his wife and is clearly still mourning her, I doubt he will be ready for any emotional romance for quite some time. And for Freya, even though she forgave Kratos that man still killed her son lmao.
I think it would be to forced and weird. Forgiveness is one thing I guess but I can’t imagin a woman spreading her legs for a man that snapped her sons neck in front of her.
It fits better as them just being fighting companions, a love story wouldn’t work in my opinion

Considering how Odin pretended to be Tyr throughout the main game, it really is hard to believe that this is the real Tyr. I honestly hope that it is truly Tyr, and it's regrettable that Atreus hasn't met him, and he didn't play a bigger role in the story.
I believe this is the real Tyr. Odin is dead at this point so there’s nobody else that would be pretending to be him. Odin just never killed Tyr and figured out that Kratos and Atreus were looking for him so he lied about where Tyr was being held and decided to be Tyr so he can get closer to Kratos and Atreus
@@josephstalin2606 What if there might be DLC coming for this game. Imagine when Atreus trapped Odin's soul in the orb but Sindri destroyed it and it latched onto something. Like one of the Ravens that survived which we see in the epilogue as Atreus. The additional content could resolve some plotines too, like Sindri, Atreus's quest, Ingrid, Tyr, Hela(Loki's child) ruling Helheim, because the big bird is retiring apparently. Odin could somehow make a return then defeated by Fenrir as the legend prophesied.
I like to think this is how I thought it would go because I was wondering where they were taking Atreus's evil persona because he appeared in the first game and somewhat in this game but it went nowhere. So, there's plenty of story seemingly still left to tell.
I like the difference between Odin's illusion and the real Tyr. Odin asked for food, and wanted to get into their inner circle as quick as possible. Tyr on the other hand, doesn't want anything, he just wants space to be alone.
This the most twisted plot twist I ever seen
Yall don't realize he's the one that takes you to Egypt in the next game.. I'm really surprised they didn't make a more impressive cinematic for this part to be honest.. you'd think actually finding the real Tyr would be a massive event after all that just Happened 🤷♂️

Sorry but i think it's extremely funny that the real Tyr himself was vibing in a random prison doing god knows what while Asgard was falling apart, poor dude weren't even aware that the all-fucker got gangbanged and stored in some marble ball to get smashed by a Dwarf. Kind of similar to how the 2018 Jorgumandr was still sleeping and chilling while all of the realms were in war against Asgard and while Thor, the very dude he hates the most, was fucking up his "other" younger version so hard that he got sent back in time.
Watching Netflix in his prisoner while the other go to war
current GOW developers' (Gameplay portrayed) design in all of their 'infinite wisdom', everyone.
They tortured the poor man by having him watch Disney content, such a cruel fate
The prison must be destroyed and appeared after ragnarok
...now we can say for sure Odin really did a POOR impersonation of Tyr. I've only seen this guy for a few seconds and he's way, way different.
YOOOOO so that's why odin was concerned when atrues was trying to find tyr.... i thought that if tyr was actually dead he doesn't have a thing to worry about....NOW THIS MAKES EVERYTHING FIT TOGETHER
Yeah it wouldn't make sense for him to get so panicky if tyr was "dead"
@@leonides1527 I beg to differ. I figured it was part of Odin's scheme. He's clever enough to do it. Pretend--just to solicit a response where he can lay a trap. And lay one he did.
Though with Tyr actually being alive all this time, I can't help but wonder why? Odin spares very few people, and they are still not let off easy. Not to mention, unlike Freya and Mimir, Tyr had nothing to leverage other than Jotunheim, as a reason to to be kept alive. But Odin lost interest--so.... I'm at a loss.
I actually think Tyr being alive doesn't make much sense. He doesn't even appear cursed or anything. Freya was stripped of her warrior spirit/wings, and her ability to travel--and Mimir was grafted to a tree... and these are people Odin MIGHT have given half a shit about at one point. Tyr though? Nothing like that. I kinda... don't care for his inclusion in the post game.
But if anyone could write a good explanation, it would be this team of writers. Who know, maybe this game will get DLC.
The giants' prophecy showed Kratos leading the war against Asgard in the God of War symbol they understood. It was actually clever that the prophecy did come true but in an Obi Wan Kenobi fashion "From a different point of view".
Kratos even mention's this was how the prophecy of the fates in Greece happened, the prophecy of Olympus's falling was it was a "God Of War" that would destroy Greece, everyone thought it was Ares but turns out it was Kratos who had been given the job post Ares death.
Like mimir said, prophecy can be slippery sometimes
@Shoreside Vale Yeah the prophecy was that a marked warrior would destroy Olympus. I believe Kratos’s brother was born with the markings, so the gods imprisoned him. Kratos got tattoos that matched the markings in honor of his brother.

I'm just glad Tyr isn't really dead. He seems like such a decent fellow and in the GoW-verse that's not very common.
Wait, THIS is how Tyr is actually introduced post-"that old man" disguise? Bruh wth boi
When you think about it the real Tyr being alive makes sense. After all, Atreus found the former’s suppose imprisonment through the messages left by the giants. Messages that Odin himself had no idea of nor could he manipulate. Odin must have overheard Atreus conversation during their search for Tyr and replace the real one with himself. Plus how would know that they would arrive to Svartalfheim, it didn’t feel like a last minute set up. He probably some what pre planned it. Also it did look like he didn’t want Atreus to find info on Tyr
I mean, if Tyr were dead this whole time, Odin wouldn't have tried to dissuade Atreus from searching for him when he first met him at his and Kratos' home with Thor. If Tyr was dead, such a search would have been a practical waste of time, and would have done more to perhaps dampen Atreus' mentality.
I can see Odin removing Tyr from that prison and sending him to this one instead as a temporary measure, hence this prison's less showy and more common look, compared to the downtrodden and hidden-away one that we found the fake Tyr in. I just wish the reveal of the real Tyr was an important plot point and more cinematic than what we got.
When you think about it it ended kind of open, I think there s potential for story dlc/new main boss etc.
I think they definitely want to go a dlc route
This man was just chilling while Ragnarok was taking place. Wtf. 😂
I'm going to be honest, as much as I love this game, I wish we got to see the real Tyr during the actual story in an actual cutscenes.
Because the way this plays out, it feels like SMS knew people were going to be sad the real Tyr wasn't alive, so they added this at the last second.
Before the odin disguise scene I thought tyr would pick up a weapon later and maybe become like an endgame sidekick, id love to go out with the two gods of war, im more disappointed abt not getting mjolnir tho

Yeah. Well, Kratos is still in their Realm. I'm sure we will get Egyptian Lore later if they capture Atreus as there prisoner for that uninvited guest to their realm.
He's still collected in the head unlike what Odin portrayed him to be. Lmao hard to mentally break Gods of War i guess, they're born to be generals.
This feels really awkward tbh. But nice to see Tyr lived.
1:30 So Tyr was in Niflheim all along.
Extremely anticlimactic and underwhelming, especially for such a major character like Tyr. Honestly would've preferred him being actually dead for story concerns, my most hated part of this is how underwhelming it is as they just stand there like Oblivion NPC's talking to each other. Although it looks like Tyr's going to be a future point in a future game though, or a DLC, hopefully they do him justice. I'd be lying if i said that i'm not excited for Tyr's character and how he'll do in a future though, especially when he's the only current character that was in Greece (besides dad of boy himself and Athena) and knows Kratos's tales and events himself, possibly experienced whatever the fuck Kratos did in the end of GOW3 too.
Would have been better if he stayed dead
Yep, they should have just made him burst out and then jumped straight during the Ragnarok. Meeting him now and it such a way made him felt like a generic NPC, which just . . . . . why?
Locked him up the entire game, wtffff
It seems like Santa Monica were only good for hyping things up but failed by delivering mediocrity in the end.
@@IwinMahWay lol the rest of the game is amazing

Can anyone guess how many winters Tyr had been locked up without any outside information. They way he reacted probably he was threatened and tortured mentally to the point he looked like highly scared of Odin. Even though little, Tyr somehow feared what Odin calamity Odin would do if he was founded. Well can't blame the guy, the last time he did became the reason for Giants' annihilation. Probably guilt plus fear did broke him in some way.
In the first game Mimir said Tyr had been missing for 500 winters which is a long-ass time, I feel bad for the guy :(

Leaving him undefined like this and with the whole "I need a moment" situation is actually a pretty ingenious set-up for continuing the series if they wish to, what-with Tyr having a definitive method of travelling to other realms of gods.
Leaves the "pages" blank for writers to freely use him as the means to bridge this into the next game instead of setting anything in stone and writing themselves into a corner.
Where to now? Asked freya
Kratos: Nowhere. There is no point on playing the game anymore.
Freya: "Where to now?"
Kratos: "Bed."
Freya: "Oh."
they realize that if tyr was alive the jontun prophecy was real, kratos was going to die and atreus would stay with odin but odin wanting to manipulate everything again caused his own death just like zeus
Perhaps, tyr would help you to travel to different universe? Or they will save it for dlc?
Yes yes that makes sense, possibly a dlc which hints us towards our next destination
Atreus: … why am I suddenly filled with a blinding rage?
😮😮😮😮😮😮🤯 mind blown to hear I thought he was really dead
Tyr: “ YOU FOUND ME 🤪😜 , Okay GO AWAY”
I notices how this Tyr's voice is more firm and deep than Odin's Tyr version.
That's good acting in the actor's part. He did a really good job.
I was so heated that Tyr was such a soy boy the entire game then turns out he was Odin the whole time. I'm glad the real Tyr is alive and chilling I hope we get to see him in action
I've never seen such an awkward Skyrim dialogue moment in gow ever. Tyr is a big character, no pun, and he has animations like that of an unimportant skyrim npc. I understand that this is post-campaign stuff but still.
Yeah that’s the real Tyr and that enthusiastic voice of his
I wonder if the real Tyr appears at any favors or the like? Does he have any further role?
I want to know he will come at that house because without brok and sindri its feels empty
After freeing him, you can meet him at several places across the realms.
man when Odin reveals himself disguised as Týr, first thought came to my mind that Odin killed him. Glad that wasn't the case.
Kratos be like do you want your armor back
Still... Despite all that...
R.i.p Brok 😭
I am so glad to see the real tyr... a shame atr didnt get to meet the real tyr..
They said this is the last game, but left us with many cliffhangers
It is the last game for this world we still have a lot of world to visit and seeing tyr alive will be the ship to sail to other world
@@whiteoscreen2383 aaand we still got the Freyr magic ship remember, flying to other realms is very likely
Is it possible that Tyr will remember who kratos is and will he maybe be the next villain. some god of war vs god of war action
Damn Tyr is a pretty chill guy lol
Tyr: Kratos...I'm sure I heard the name....AH, the god killer. Did...did we just bring THE god killer to kill Aesir gods?
"I would love to be alone for a moment."
My guy you were just in solitary confinement what the fuck do you mean? You've been alone this whole time.
I'm happy he was alive the whole time. I really thought Odin killed him
1:23 😂 why did you square up.
Now it makes sense, actually Tyr was going to fight in ragnarok, but Odin disguised as Tyr in Svartalheim and then seeing that prophecy changed everything.
Damn Santa Monica really made Tyr pull a Lord Saladin with him being absent in one of the most important series of events to take place in Nordic mythology. Who we thought was him the whole time was actually Oden in disguise while the real Tyr was just kicking back in a shed somewhere in the outskirts of Niflheim. This was a turbo troll well done. Honestly if this one also turns out to be a fake I wouldn’t be surprised.
And I was worried Odin was telling the truth for once; that he killed Tyr!🤣
