    The fact that when Odin impersonated Tyr he made him look like a broken man really shows how little Odin thought of people and how much he underestimated them. He thought many years of imprisonment would break Tyr, but they didn't. All these year later and he's still the gentle and wise person he always was not even significantly perturbed by his captivity .

      Thanks for this comment, it's a nice perspective. Also, it makes it a bit more acceptable for me. I hated the fact we can't interact more with the real Tyr, I hate that Odin mocked him by impersonating a coward for his purposes, and I hate most of all that Tyr's involvement in the main story as a character is nonexistent (except for the things he did in GoW and in the background). I really wanted him to be a main character like Freya or Mimir even. Dammit.

    Notice how the actual Tyr is still very much of sound mind and character even after all the years he's been imprisoned, but Odin opted to depict him as a man broken from his solitude. He probably acted him out that way because he genuinely thought that is what Tyr would end up as. Goes to show how much he underestimates and belittles the people around him.

    The only giveaway of Odin's impersonation was the part where Atreus was a giant, and Atreus rescued him to ask about Giant stuff. Odin didn't know Atreus was a giant, or this intention of his, so he didn't plan for this, and he knew little of the giants. Hence why he gave that look when Atreus first revealed that he's a giant. He impersonated Tyr well enough to fool Mimir and Freya. But he could not answer any giant related questions at all, and could only cover himself by saying the giants were a secret people. The real Tyr would likely talk much more about the giants.

    • @bachpham6862
      @bachpham6862 Год назад +225

      If you revisit the scene where Atreus show the real vision of Ragnarok that was seen by Groa (showing Ragnarok only destroy Asgard, but Groa lied), it was pretty revealing that Tyr was Odin in disguise. Initially, we assume that Tyr being a pacifist is why he did not like the vision of him leading armies, but revisiting it shows another perspective: he is afraid of that future.

    • @Sunaki1000
      @Sunaki1000 Год назад +127

      @@bachpham6862 Yeah I was spoiled and as such the Scene was a very strong hint.
      Also if we observe his Behavior he acts very strongly in Odins Interest, always trying to avoid Battles, showing interest in Secrets and Magic, and encouraging it, playing Kratos against Loki whit subtil Words to divide them, (A Meal for a Champ). It was quiet interesting observing his Behavior whit Context.

    • @SH1NK1R01
      @SH1NK1R01 Год назад +101

      There’s also really small conversational hints sprinkled throughout that only make sense after the reveal. Like when Atreus offers him a spear and he assumes it’s a walking stick. Because Odin uses one. Or when they said all the giants were gone. He exclaimed “what do you mean they are all gone?” Even though the real tyr was involved in their plan to not only lock their realm but knew of their soul ball escapism plan too. I was glad to have never been spoiled on it. I actually felt legit betrayed. And learning that even the broom closet joke was actually an elaborate ploy to get him a way to sneak in muginn. Btw if you notice after his initial convo with kratos you neve again see the two birds together at the same time again, they even mention it multiple times and nobody notices really. Like when Atreus is going to Asgard it’s just huginn and the characters mention by name. The other gods even go “wonder where is the other one” and he is just never there. Come to find out he’s just sitting in the damn broom closet acting as a back door.

    The implication that Tyr can free himself all this time makes this somewhat funny.
    I imagine the only reason why Tyr doesn't free himself is that the last thing he wants is to get Odin to rampage more of the Norse lands just to get to him. To Tyr, he'd best not to get involved to avoid more trouble than he would bring.
    I can also see him seeing his fate, and the reason why he avoided it is that he refuses to actually fight it. And as we all know, a person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.

    It's no wonder why Odin was able to kept his cool right until the end. The one who defied fate wasn't Kratos or Atreus. It was Odin. The prophecy stated that Tyr will be the one to lead an army against Odin. It make sense because in the original prophecy, Kratos was killed and Atreus went to serve Odin. There would be no one left to be the general except for Tyr who will eventually escape imprisonment. Odin must have thought that he'd already won Ragnarök since he broke the prophecy. Kratos didn't die and Tyr remained imprisoned. Ironically, the joke was on him. Locking up and impersonating Tyr not only helped Kratos to survive but prevented Atreus from joining him as well. Odin suffered an even greater defeat than what was prophesized because he tried to defy fate.

    Odin-Tyr emenates a cowardice , sycophantic manipulative aura from his voice and tones . Odin tried his best to used his son's best attribute hes known for - the love for peace, he used it to manipulate Kratos and the crew but his voice and action still sound like hes just trying to avoid war at all cost.
    The real Tyr sounds pro profoundly wise, calm and RESPONSIBLE , he want peace, but hes always ready for war if it demanded. He speaks for the people. The original plan of devs they've mentioned all the way back was to have Kratos as one of the three old wise men, who travel to witness the birth of the Christ. Imagine Kratos, Atreus and either Tyr or some new character from upcoming egyptian saga traveling through middle east occupied by Rome, witnessing brutal oppression of jewish people, horrors done by mortals to mortals.

    I don't like how they handled some character's deaths. Tyr being dead added more layers to the story, and showed Odin's true cruelty and obsession with fate. Finding out he's alive cheapens this a little. Even if they add a reason.
    Birgir's death also comes across a little cheap when you find out he survived, especially so when they explain how in a secondary mission. Which is reduced to a joke, literally. He survived the fall by doing a (barrel) "roll".
