Odin made a mockery of Tyrs peace as Mimir said. Odin is clearly very jealous over the love people had for him and people were willing to show Tyr things that Odin wanted for himself (like the giant eyes for example as well as knowing some of their secrets). Odin knows what he’s doing by making Tyr seem so pathetic. When Atreus walks with him in Asgard he even says “You’re lucky the offer still stands after you freed Tyr, but I suppose his company is punishment itself” and just laughs to himself knowing he’s been acting as Tyr the whole time and disappointing Atreus and Kratos

I am quite certain that Odin intentionally portrayed Tyr as a broken man out of spite, and should he win, he would forever tarnish Tyr's legacy as a coward who was just a shell of his former self.
It is more evidently that the real Tyr is every bit as wise and kind as we were told he is. Most likely that a sore loser like Odin would did all that shit just to rub it in Tyr's face because he can't break Tyr's resolve.

Something that really struck me is when you first meet the real Tyr his first requests are the opposite of what Odin--playing the role of Tyr--requested. Odin-Tyr requested food and wanted to be somewhere cramped (referring to the broom closet, feigning that he would feel more comfortable in someplace like a cell). Real Tyr immediately asked to "have some space," instead, and even refused Freya's offer of food and shelter. Thought that was an interesting detail.

Kratos is calm, reasonable and much more passive than his previous self.
Atries is past his rebellious phase, now growing as 'Loki from Jortur".
Freya has calmed down, out of her phase for vengeance for Baldur.
Ragnarok was one big therapy session for our protagonists. It is like, Greece pantheon was fraught with 'Evil' God's which made Kratos and Demios (Briefly) Angry and rebellious.
The Norse, in comparison, is far more sagacious; not 'Evil'. They have their own Garden(metaphor), which makes them worthy of being an adverse for our set of lunatics. Regardless, they are not 'Evil', they seem merely ungratified, flawed beings with impeccable intentions.
The Egyptian saga, if it follows the trend set by GOW Series, will feature a lot of polity of Gods as a race above man. Kratos dying after such development by hands of Egyptian pantheon will make him the true God of War. War ends in civilization.

Kratos himself calling Mimir "brother" back, plus multiple instances of them bonding through complementing each other's wise advices and meaningful conversation. Unquestionably Mimir's friendship takes the "OG real friend" title, by far. Freya didn't even came second in this category, since Brok and his brother both made Kratos and Atreus feel part of their family. That's real friendship. Then Freya eventually earned that spot.
My point being, Kratos character development was so masterly crafted through both games that people tend to recall how seemingly easy was for Kratos to disregard any kind of, his, and other people's emotion displays, yet tend to forget why any of the characters loyally and often unconditionally following him as their leader see it as worthy, and not because they would get something in return but because those ARE real friends.

Another commenter mentions him practicing tai chi. Odin, pretending to be Tyr, says that Odin tortured him in prison; but when Odin is mentioned as an abusive father, it was to bleed use out of Thor. In this video, the characters say Odin had no more uses for Tyr except to keep him alive for magic. Tyr is so wise, so uplifting with his words, knew exactly what to tell Mimir to at least a little bit lower his pain about the whale creature, he was paying his respects to his dead comarades. What Odin as Tyr did all the time is brood and put everyone's ideas and plans down.
