Legit Thor scaring the shit outta Odin when Odin called for him was something I didn’t know I needed to see 😂😂😂 also being a damn teen with Thor by your side I’m sure you’d feel invincible 😅
It was Odin's acting. He presents the image of a frail old man. He sees through his ravens. I doubt a single leaf falls in Asgard witthout Odin knowing.
Why does Odin remind me of the late Steve Jobs??🤔🤣. It's like you're playing in a movie. And Thor has no filter at all. This game deserves an Oscar👏🏾👍🏾
Odin was so good here man, what a great manipulator. The man takes the form and attitude of a weary bumbling old man when inside he’s an evil warmongering vicious monster. He was perfectly designed in this game I love how they didn’t make him a stereotypical massive hunk of muscles and instead really got him to make you question whether he’s as bad as they say
Hügin and Münin are Odin's ravens on his shoulders that whisper things in his ears from all the nine realms, they're like his eyes and ears. I'm impressed with how much Santi Monica studios got right mythology-wise with this game. From Odin's infinite rings, to Thor's hammer design/physical design, to Loki killing Baldür with mistletoe. Very good 👏❄️❄️
You know that little crack there? Is that a piece of some other mythology overshadowing norse myths or something still within norse mythology... who knows also: Thor: "Hey, neaaaat trick" Atreus: (annoyed bark)
As bad as odin was, you can see how eager he was to find out the answers in that tear. Hes obsessed sure but hes so excited about it, he tries to find ways to try an work with/use his enemies to his advantage or to achieve a higher purpose, its crazy, the whole time, he jus wanted to make sure kratos wasn’t tryna kill him and to try an find the mask, i know they insinuate that hes jus a liar and hes never a man of his word but he didnt show that at all, which i find very intriguing
Yep. I feel like Odin was actually pretty cool given his obsession with wisdom and knowledge. The problem was that he didn't care about his own kids, much less anyone else around him. He was prepared to sacrifice anyone to his pursuit to his pursuit of knowledge. If he had been more considerate of others, he would have been a wholly great protagonist.
@@WeCaredALot that’s prolly a better way of getting out what i was tryna say, that’s why he’s a bad guy, he was tryna achieve his goals by any means necessary, but as bad as it is, i respect it 😂 idk if that’s terrible of me to say buh anyone who stands on business gets respect from me, maybe the answers odin was looking for woulda made him too powerful somehow and that’s why he wanted it so bad, there’s a lot you can digest and analyze here 😂
I think the worst part is that I REALLY wanna know what's in that rift so I was pretty disappointed when the ending didn't provide the answer (which is the point).
21:50 Atreaus: I wasn't thinking Thor: Good. It's better that way. It's sad Thor has that mindset from Odin's toxic "I think, you kill!" upbringing that the former would lash into Magni and Modi.
I think the reason why odin speaks to his crows as they were people is because when people pray to him for knowledge , the ravens pretty much act like messengers that all they do is deliver those prayers to him for him to answer to , and sometimes he don't have a proper answer to certain questions they ask him , and as a all knowing being in the entire universe it is very frustrating for him not being able to have knowledge bout certain things to deliver a proper answer ,advice or information to those people that normally ask him questions bout life, science , or even the entire universe daily
One thing I never noticed is that Freyr's sword was magically tied to the post instead of being in thesheath, almost as if it was a war trophy instead of Odin's own weapon.
It's cool that this alliance/Their sibling relationship It's a reference not only to Marvel but also to the original Norse Mythology where the two had several adventures together as Thor really enjoyed Loki's company because he was intelligent and smart I wish the game had more missions with the 2 of them, for example them in the village under Asgard, them in Hellhaim and also in Midgard since there is a story about Thor and Loki together Where it involves the challenge and trap of the giants Where the giants try to kill the 2 in a betrayal but Thor and Loki kill them all and there are Thor's goats in this story where Thor loses the challenge and was defeated by the giants in a game that was humiliating and shameful For him and also in the story of the hammer theft,Thor and Loki go to Iontuhaim together and there Thor dresses up as a bride according to Loki's idea It's a shame that these stories didn't happen or weren't mentioned Like the story of the kidnapping of the Goddess Iduna and her apples that It was mentioned in 2018 And it really happened and in this story Loki is innocent/guilty and also a Hero helped save the Goddess And there's the story of the theft of Freya's necklace who knows, maybe a DLC could happen and Thor,Odin,Baldur,Freyr and others dead Gods come back to life and have more gods, stories,The heroes Beowulf and Siegfried/Sigurd,pets from gods,2 extra kingdoms Valhalla & a new Asgard And creatures + news Valkyries That were not shown, told or appeared in the upcoming DLC or perhaps the next game Let's hope it happens 🥹🥲🙏 like and Bye!
Thats what Odin made mimir believe. He is super manipulative, so much so he appears friendly and agreeable when you meet him as atreus. You only see Odins true self when seeing the state of his environment/family.
I'd say yes to that. You can read control freak in almost every action Odin performs, and that's what makes rewatching these so interesting. You're primed to distrust his every move, to look beyond it. But if you don't catch that, you find him personable. Relatable. Sane. Like he's the reasonable party. I can definitely read his being startled by Thor as a manifestation of that. Thor is his strongest tool, but hes been showing signs of not aligning with his every whim and interest. I don't think it's any secret that Odin could not take his own son in a straight fight, which is why he *immediately* subjugated him, when he refused to fight Kratos and listen, at the end. He sees it as necessary, I mean, fuck, what if Thor turns on him? He's screwed.
I guess Kratos is wise one because he had experience those who possess chess of their goal (knowledge future sight wisdom) can turn anyone into Complete Madness this why he raise Atreus to make his own choices and not follow what future written
It's pretty clear the writers of the game aren't sticking to the source, they are just taking loose inspiration and creating their own versions of the mythology. Their are countless deviations, the mask is hardly the biggest issue. At the end, all that matters is that they make a good engaging story and game.
@@MrSirFluffy I disagree. They couldn't figure out what to do with Atreus, so they gave him a boring MacGuffin quest. I don't even care that he broke it at the end because it's what I expected him to do and I wasn't interested in what was in the rift. First of all, this should have been a trilogy. Second, they should have never had us play as Atreus at all. Third, this game has Kratos for the most part following his son around because his son says that he wants to prevent Ragnarok from happening because he knows many innocent people will die because of it, which is why Kratos tags along because he doesn't want to repeat what happened in Greece. But little does Kratos know and little the we the players know is that Atreus is actually pushing to make Ragnarok happen to get revenge on Asgard for killing all the Giants. He learned how to use powers of illusion and disguises to manipulate other people around him and get them to do things that he couldn't do on his own. A great example of this would have been if Atreus faked his death at the hands of Thor, which would lead Kratos to going berserk and killing Thor. Atreus would reveal that he was really alive and explain that the only way he could get Kratos to fully snap is if he pretended to be dead. Kratos would then be pissed off at his son but not hurt him, instead he would just walk away. At this point Odin would sweep in and persuade atreyas to come to Asgard with him. The boy would think this would be his perfect opportunity to sabotage Asgard from the inside, but Odin is many times more cunning and intelligent than atreyas is so Odin knows that he will be able to get atreyas to do some things for him before eventually he'll kill the boy off. Game 3 is all about Kratos continuing the things that need to happen to get Ragnarok to occur so that he can get into Asgard and save his son.
@@jgoofy8233 That's exactly how I feel. I was bored out of my mind playing him because not only was he weaker in combat capability, but they dumbed down the kinds of enemies you would face while playing as him. Plus he was just so annoying in this one, even more annoying than 2018.

it wouldn't be God of war anymore but I would like to see a game for loki
I dont see that being fun honestly. Now if they made world of warcraft level mmorpg in the god of war universe now THAT'S A GAME
I love how Odin sounds like he's in a conference call or a zoom call in the beginning
Too much of everything is bad.
Zeus wanted all power,
Odin wanted to know everything,
Kratos once wanted absolute revenge,
Baldur always wanted to honor is father at all costs.
Their individual obsessions would become their undoing as it corrupted them and eventually led them to madness.
Baldur want to feel again.
@@khylerbane4523 I didn't know Baldur was Milhouse's dad lol
Zeus had all the power, what he desired is to keep it that way and not follow the fate of his predessecors Cronos and Ouranos.
Zeus was consumed by the evils of Pandora’s box. He ended up becoming like Cronos.
Seems like Thor enjoyed the Surtur’s trial. I wish he’s alive and become Kratos’ ally. We could very well see Atreus and Thrud doing these trials as training together, with their dads looking on the side chatting lol.
Or going for round 3 to see who’s stronger between them again
I love how Odin wasn't actually necessarily evil. Just going about achieving the peace in all the wrong ways.
Nah he's evil, Thor didn't even raise a hand against him & he killed his own son without hesitation. (After everything Thor did for him 😶) He also treats his family like tools. Odin is a dick but still a great character.
To add on
Odin also had parents sacrifice their children, just so they can be made into ravens spies. Odin imprisoned Tyr no good reason either. Tyr truly wanted peace, Odin wants manipulation & control over anything that is of use to him. Don't forget loved & married Freya, only to learn her old magic. Odin also used to torture Mimir, just for fun as well.
@@Ancient_Tribesman that doesn't mean he's evil. He sees Kratos as an intruder who slaughtered a whole pantheon as a threat to his "wise" rule of the Aesir. Thor already beat the hell of out Modi because he thought "he didn't do his job". He can do the same with Odin if he feels like Odin is using him.
@@satyakisil4289 Seriously? Thor is his son, and he just straight up killed him. Besides their uses, nothing else matter to him. He see his grandchildrens as a useless tools so their deaths mean nothing to him, so is Thor when he has no use. He said all that himself. And with every story Mimir told about Odin, he is evil in a way that he will do everything to archive what he want, like betrayed and murder countless Giants.
@@BuiBaoNguyen that still doesn't make him evil. He's just incredibly shrewd. He is selfish above malicious. His rule still caused immense prosperity to humans and other beings. I bet you can name plenty of decent rulers in real life who murdered their relatives and others to keep their power, but were nevertheless beneficial to their subjects.
@@satyakisil4289 if we follow your logic, that selfish actions which violate the moral law are not evil. We can justify rapist and murderers who do their evil actions, out of selfishness, whether because of pleasure or a goal.
Odin is evil, for he constantly violates morality, and uses everyone around him as a tool.
Going into my Ragnorak playthrough I definitely did not have " Playing as Atreus with Thor as my companion " on my bingo card.
But by God was all utterly enthralled every second they were together. Almost made me wish for this whole scenario to be massively extended. I'd sit back and just watch Thor tear shit up
Odin is such an old god. I wonder if he meant well when he started his research and then lost perspective along the way.
Obsessions can do things to you
Makes me wonder if Pandora's box had a global reaching affect.
@@matthewy2j I think it did tbh
dunno, he still killed ymir at the beggining of times tho
@@matthewy2j It appears as if the Pantheons are reasonably self-contained. In this instance, it was essentially staring into the Abyss of Ginuungagap that drove Odin mad. It cost him both his eye and his mind. It is entirely possible that he encountered whatever the equivalent of an Eldritch being is within GoW. He learned a forbidden truth that drove him to madness.
Kinda did a 180 on Thor since he didn't admit to beating Modi half to death like the Thor from Mimirs stories would have bragged about.
I mean its his own child, he ain’t exactly gonna brag about it outloud. He probably feels all kinds of guilty even if he brushes it off. He was brought up to be Odin’s personal killer. Him and kindness are worlds apart when he gets in a mood
He did talk about it a bit when he fought kratos
I wish that we could've played as Thor as well. That would have been really fun
not really, if u wanna be thor download mods
Its not the same, having the game come with being able to play as thor would be amazing
20:49 seeing him in wolf mode with a flying sword aiding hime in battle gave me alucard vibes.
Thor plays the low-effort observer so well.
Ragnarok is a cycle, no telling how much experience the Aesir have by this point.

That, right there.. Was fore shadowing. Such a manipulator as well
You know I wish there was like a renegade option to tell Thor that his son sought his own death in his grief, outcasted and desperate by his fathers treatment. Like really give into the old folk lore Loki with a bit of spartan wit.
Thor the stealthy piece of beef
21:20 Thor being a meme

Odin: 'Thor, get down here.'
Thor: *Manifests out of thin fuckin air* 'Allfather.'
Odin: 'Don't do that!'
Odin putting on a really good show of being genuinely startled. It's both hilarious and clever. He was a really good character in this game.
Just as good as watching Chris and Tom on an adventure
"you try being nice to him see what that gets you" right after Atreus was hella nice to him in muspelheim and it went pretty well.
Odin gave Artreus the sword " See I'm not a bad guy, just gave you a sword that's not mine" ahahah
Why does Odin remind me of the late Steve Jobs??🤔🤣. It's like you're playing in a movie.
And Thor has no filter at all. This game deserves an Oscar👏🏾👍🏾
Ligma Balls
It's because Jobs was clinically diagnosed as a high functioning sociopath and Odin is what that looks like.
Very good 👏❄️❄️
If Thor kills Atreus Kratos gonna turn into the monster he was during his prime days.
It’s sad how nice Odin can seem at times and then you remember how he really is
Double sad when you realize he could just as easily have everything he wants and be nice.
Lmaooo when Huginn told Odin to clean out his ears 🤣0:27
21:21 this is the moment Thor Odinson turned into Heisemberg
You know that little crack there?
Is that a piece of some other mythology overshadowing norse myths or something still within norse mythology... who knows
also:
Thor: "Hey, neaaaat trick"
Atreus: (annoyed bark)
@@WeCaredALot that’s prolly a better way of getting out what i was tryna say, that’s why he’s a bad guy, he was tryna achieve his goals by any means necessary, but as bad as it is, i respect it 😂 idk if that’s terrible of me to say buh anyone who stands on business gets respect from me, maybe the answers odin was looking for woulda made him too powerful somehow and that’s why he wanted it so bad, there’s a lot you can digest and analyze here 😂
4:30 that's how our parents want us to react when they call our name
I prove who blew the horn. Check it out bro
How cool would it be in NG+ to have the option to play as Thor?
He'd be better than Kratos all up.
I think the worst part is that I REALLY wanna know what's in that rift so I was pretty disappointed when the ending didn't provide the answer (which is the point).
I came to really like Thor..It's upsetting the end he got, especially after he finally decided to choose his own path.
I get that they were going for a 'last straw' moment with Odin but Thor really did deserve better.
21:50
Atreaus: I wasn't thinking
Thor: Good. It's better that way.
It's sad Thor has that mindset from Odin's toxic "I think, you kill!" upbringing that the former would lash into Magni and Modi.
Wow. Nice catch bro. ❤
I catch who blew the horn. U should see it. Ihs
Thor trying to kill Atreus nearly unleashed a force that would make Ragnarok look like a picnic
Thor is so badass
i love Odin arguing with Huggin, made me laugh
Arteus is going to be so badass in the next gow

This take on loki and thor is awesome
Odin and Atreus are such a Rick and Morty combo. Balrog must have been a fan.
5:24 🤨 squirrel? but why and how? 🐿
I think it's great you can play as Atreus for a while
It's cool that this alliance/Their sibling relationship It's a reference not only to Marvel but also to the original Norse Mythology where the two had several adventures together as Thor really enjoyed Loki's company because he was intelligent and smart
I wish the game had more missions with the 2 of them, for example them in the village under Asgard, them in Hellhaim and also in Midgard since there is a story about Thor and Loki together Where it involves the challenge and trap of the giants Where the giants try to kill the 2 in a betrayal but Thor and Loki kill them all and there are Thor's goats in this story where Thor loses the challenge and was defeated by the giants in a game that was humiliating and shameful For him and also in the story of the hammer theft,Thor and Loki go to Iontuhaim together and there Thor dresses up as a bride according to Loki's idea
It's a shame that these stories didn't happen or weren't mentioned Like the story of the kidnapping of the Goddess Iduna and her apples that It was mentioned in 2018 And it really happened and in this story Loki is innocent/guilty and also a Hero helped save the Goddess And there's the story of the theft of Freya's necklace
who knows, maybe a DLC could happen and Thor,Odin,Baldur,Freyr and others dead Gods come back to life and have more
gods, stories,The heroes Beowulf and Siegfried/Sigurd,pets from gods,2 extra kingdoms Valhalla & a new Asgard And creatures + news Valkyries That were not shown, told or appeared in the upcoming DLC or perhaps the next game Let's hope it happens 🥹🥲🙏 like and Bye!
I thought Odin lost his eye when Mimir persuaded him to gouge it out when he was super fucked up in hallucinogens.
Thats what Odin made mimir believe.
He is super manipulative, so much so he appears friendly and agreeable when you meet him as atreus.
You only see Odins true self when seeing the state of his environment/family.
"The man behind the slaughter"
*We met him, are chilling out with him and get to know him*
20:00 dude says thinking is too much for him but then he admits to thinking lol
I still can't tell if Odin was genuinely scared by Thor's sudden appearance or that he was playing a part
I think that crack is a break of the 4th wall
They must not know XD
Thor didn't almost kill Loki, it was just a threat.
8:52 If Kratos was present there in that right moment... Thor would be the first to see *the real God Of War.*
9:22 seems like it’d be a fitting final boss theme
When I'm not looking, Odin sounds like he's making a phone call talking to his raven.
I guess Kratos is wise one because he had experience those who possess chess of their goal (knowledge future sight wisdom) can turn anyone into Complete Madness this why he raise Atreus to make his own choices and not follow what future written
Gotta love ingrid tied up (Freyrs sword) and just non chalantly gives it to atreus and I quote Odin, I've had that thing since.. well who knows.
Odin is like a mad scientinst in this interpretation. Gotta say it's pretty clever view on him given his story in mythology.
The voice actor to Odin is the same actor that played salvatori Leone in Gta 3 and San andreas
Man, this is 2022, and the rock that thor destroy is disappearing immediately?
Why do you bother so much into such small detail? Theres sooo much more in the scripts than bothering in some shitty rocks vanishing like they should.
This is a game? Why would you want a bunch of destroyed rocks to stay in sight? It's for better game mechanics.
I can't believe the writers of this game really thought The Mask from that comic and Jim Carrey movie was a real thing in Norse mythology.
@@johnleonard9102 that's a pretty weird way of saying you don't like playing as Atreus.
@@jgoofy8233 That's exactly how I feel. I was bored out of my mind playing him because not only was he weaker in combat capability, but they dumbed down the kinds of enemies you would face while playing as him. Plus he was just so annoying in this one, even more annoying than 2018.
@@johnleonard9102 nah I definitely know how you feel. I played the previous GOW (I don't have Ragnarok) and Atreus just seems useless for a vast majority in the game, and he doesn't even play a major role until towards late game.
