Dude, your videos are so underrated in the music world and the level of research you do on this stuff is awesome. Kudos for another great video!
I appreciate that man thank you! Just hope it makes more people aware of Slye Guy
You don’t need everybody to pay attention just the right ones
Couldn't agree more! Also this promoter seems like a giant slimeball!
Totally agree
@tankthetech just wanna say from the moment you broke this story on your channel as someone in the UK that's worked the festival scene this has all come across as someone who is looking to blame anyone but himself so he can keep the money and run and it's people like him that In my opinion ruin the industry for the people like yourself that always try to do right for the bands and the fans much love from the uk
You've heard of Sly and the Family Stone, but now we have Sly and the Family Scam
I'm from Virginia and it's just sad to me that our local festival is such a joke.
It doesnt represent where you're from, just reflects onto that knobhead jon
Don't feel bad, I'm from Cleveland...home of the "Rock and Roll Hall of Shame."
If that helps😆
BRRF23 was my first festival ever. It was fun, but GYAT damn was it the hottest of messes. Literally and metaphorically.😂😂
@@LTSauce_Boss21 was basically 23 but actually getting to see the acts and way cheaper beer lol
The orcs took over blue ridge rock festival. It wasn’t the weather. The orcs made Jon so scared that he decided to go silent. The money was stolen by the orcs. When Jonny was asked about this he makes up real (to him) story’s to make himself feel worth something and make himself look like the hero who defeated all of the orcs. In reality he is hiding from them and his team of weak security guards were fighting them while he was writing this. Now he’s gone silent again because his team of weaklings got defeated by Saruman’s army of orcs. This story is more realistic than Sly’s lies. Hey that rhymes.
If this scam somehow takes place again this year, and people buy tickets, they've got no one but THEMSELVES to blame! Seems like most folks shoulda known better long ago.
Fool Me Once, Shame on You; Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me...
I've went three years in a row and had a blast all three years 180 for a 5 day festival you get what you pay for bad ass lineup in a backyard party where everything goes. Pay double the price for DWP festivals and you'll have a festival in more controlled environment
Dude, thanks to you and Tank The Tech's videos I was able to get my money back from my credit card. You were among my top sited sources. Thank You!!!
Really?? That's crazy to hear!

Being a Christian and a metalhead I can say I have never seen a church have options for crypto and stock. I have been to Baptist churches, I’ve been to Methodist churches, I’ve been non-denominational churches, I’ve been to a few other flavors of Christian churches all across the United States. That’s not normal and honestly a really big red flag.
Your homeboy Jesus doesn't care how you give your tithe as long as he gets it. You don't want to fry for all eternity do you? 😇
Flavors of Christian 😂 my flavor is Lutheran.
"We FINALLY got permission to tell you that we can't tell you anything yet."
How does that even work????
😂🤦🏾♀️
When you said that Slye Guy is from a church family, it suddenly made a whole lot of sense, because in that interview he is completely dead behind the eyes
He looks like a Church mouse infected a larger rodent
It's also in the name "Slye" as in "sly as a fox". Which is an insult to the verminous canine species that needs to drink more antifreeze.
Yeah it all made sense
Beyond the partial day refund, I was not taken to my camping spot by security and was left to find my own spot literally on the side of the road to camp (we had VIP camping passes) and i also had a pass to park one of our 2 vehicles at overflow, which we could not use because other people just desperately trying to find camping space after being abandoned blocked us in. I have multiple services i purchased that were never rendered to me. That is the money I want back, partial main ticket or not.
The show was falling apart wednesday before we even arrived. It was doomed from the word go, anyone who tries to spin the problems as exclusively resulting from anything that happened over the course of the festival is straight up lying.
Man, this completely reignited my feelings of how pissed off I was day 1 at 2023 BRRF. I told my wife we wouldn’t go to day 2 to see if the festival would get its shit together…it didn’t. But to see the social media posts by BRRF would make you think that it was the best festival to ever take place. I could go on and on with how disappointed, upset, and taken advantage of I felt. I can guarantee though, I will get my money back! F these guys.
Godzilla will not get past the border like every second band trying to get over the border to play gigs lol
whats ironic is he looks almost identical to pickles’ brother seth from metalocalypse who acts…exactly the same.
How is this dude not being investigated for multiple financial crimes? He is clearly stealing from these festivals.
Because lawyers
Thank you savior of metal. Ive been windmilling your videos to all my friends
Thank you Savior of Metal!
Your content is awesome, dude. And your humor is SICKENING. Love your channel and I hope your band takes off! You're a real one. Thanks for these excellent videos!
The statement from the Festival should be signed "Lords of Foggy Nothingness"
I genuinely don't understand how Sly is still allowed to work in this field. This is every bit as bad as Fyre
Very good point!! To me Fyre was still worse, at least the band played at blue ridge
@@MeshuggahFan-iy6tb I am mostly just talking about Sly's horrendous mismanagement. The attendee experience, at least for some, was definitely not as bad as Fyre
Don't care about metal, just watch because of your charming voice / personality.
For more of his charming voice, check out his band Dark Insanity
I LOVE you for this comment@@Mr.Manta5988
Dude, you are my spirit animal. You research like I do and you love it!!!!
I was employed in 21 and 22. I watched from the sidelines this year and was shocked on how it turned out.
I’m not sure if you know but there were thousands and thousands of people who did not get let into the festival Friday because of “storms” while campers and a few others got bussed in and got to enjoy the festival.
Went from 2018-2021. '22 and '23 lineups had my favorite bands of all time. Still didn't go back after '21 because of the disorganization and lack of care to the fans that made it happen every year.
"Sly & the family Scams!"
Lmao, love it! Great investigative work👍
WE ALL NEED TO CHIP IN AND GET WYATT A GODZILLA, SO IT CAN GO AFTER BLUE RIDGE!!
Can you prove Big Foot DIDN'T steal all the stage hands food? No?
On Thursday we got there early to set up our pop up camper tent. We stayed off site at the campground right outside the main entrance, less than a 10 min walk away from the venue. We got set up and quickly learned that the AC unit in the trailer tent was no match for the heat and the temp inside was unbearable. My husband drove back into town to check the weather, get some ice for our cooked and to get a window AC unit. Mind you, my husband is disabled so hard labor like setting up the pop up and using whatever we had on hand to install/support the small window AC unit is extremely hard on him even with my help. Though he is really tough when it comes to pain, he was hurting pretty bad. The weather didn’t look too bad, slight chance of light rain, that was it so we weren’t too worried and it would be refreshing.
When we were ready to go in, nobody knew anything about ADA parking and they just directed us to the lots with the shuttles, which were so far away from the venue, it made no sense. Mind you we could have just walked, which is where ADA parking is (we found this out on Friday), and if we were allowed to park there, we’d have been somewhat safe from the craziness during the storm. Anyway nobody knew anything about it and we were told to buy a shuttle pass which took almost an hour due to the lack of cell service in the area, and then they wouldn’t load when we were trying to scan the passes. Waited 1.5 hours in the blazing heat with no shade and I think I only saw like 3 different shuttles running?
We finally got in, went straight away to get water, chugged those and then discovered we had to hike up the mountain to get to the refill station. Idk what band was finishing up but Highly Suspect was up next and they were the only band we got to see in full. Coheed was next and they were one of the bands that I was very excited to see. It was sprinkling, which felt amazing, but then it escalated into a full blown thunderstorm which caused the full shut down. We all know what a nightmare the evacuation process was so I won’t even go there.
When we got back to our campsite my husband bashed his toe on a tree root and broke it (It never healed right) and we were worried about how he’d be able to get around all day because there was no way to avoid a ton of walking. I didn’t anticipate spending this much time at the campsite besides sleeping and there wasn’t much to do besides walk around. That coupled with the uncertainty of the weather, I decided to drive back into town where I had a signal to check the weather to ease my mind, and also to stop at Walmart for more ice, as well as a book to read and some headphones. I have severe insomnia and between the insufferable heat and less than ideal sleeping conditions I needed something to occupy myself because undoubtedly I would have trouble sleeping.
Checking the weather did not put my mind at ease at all; the forecast showed a pretty high chance of rain and possible thunderstorms, but there had been such drastic fluctuations every time we checked, starting from the days leading up the the fest, to whenever we were able to find a signal and check. A little rain would be okay but the possibility of another colossal storm of that magnitude, though unlikely, had my feeling very uneasy. I wanted to leave and my gut was telling me it was the right thing to do, but I felt guilty, stupid and selfish, for even thinking about it because my husband paid for it all so we could do something fun and special together. After everything we had to go through so far, I wanted so badly for it to all be worth it, brushed it off and told myself I was just overreacting
We get an early start on Friday, and as we were wandering the area where we had been able to pick up a signal, the guys directing festival traffic told us that shuttles were not running at the moment. We asked why but that’s all the info they had. BUT they did inform us that ADA parking was at the entrance less than a mile down the road. We decided to walk up and saw that traffic was at a standstill and people were waiting on foot outside the gate. People were telling us that they weren’t letting anyone in and that was confirmed when we asked at the gate. They said it was due to inclement weather coming in so they stopped letting people in, but there were people inside enjoying the show that was still going on. It sounded suspicious and didn’t make sense because earlier that day, the forecast showed a very low chance of rain. We went back to camp, ate lunch and then decided to try again but drive up this time. Same thing, refused entry. We returned to our campsite once again and hung out at the campgrounds common area where we asked passerby’s coming and going if they had any info. My husband was able to check the weather and no such storm was forecasted so my theory is that it was oversold and when we tried to get in, they were over capacity.
By this point, I’m frustrated, hot, bored, defeated, disappointed, and super anxious. Our whole day was wasted and it was hot, hubbys toe was actually broken… and it never healed correctly btw.
Finally I spoke up and said I wanted to go home and to my surprise my husband was perfectly okay with that decision. We waited for it to cool down a little before we started packing up and then we were off. I had serious FOMO but also the entire time I was just stressed and anxious, with the exception of the first day once we got inside the venue. It ended up being a good call on our part because the rest of the weekend got cancelled anyway and we got an early start to beat the craziness and traffic.
Just as we arrived home, we heard the news that the rest of the weekend had been cancelled and all my feelings of guilt and selfishness were gone immediately. I still felt sad and disappointed because this trip was supposed to be a special trip for my and my husband. He was really looking forward to it and he did so much to make it happen. I didn’t want him to feel like it was all for nothing because at the very least we do have fun on road trips together. That was supposed to be our first fest with just the two of us, and also our first rock fest together. We’ve attended EDM fests with friends, but never just us two. This was his idea and he was so excited about it because rock music is more his scene (I love it too but I’m a bass head/rave girly at heart). It adds insult to injury that here we are, still no refund and nothing but a broken toe that never healed correctly to show for it. Shoutout to all the BTS workers who did their best to keep the show going for us, y’all are the best and you deserve way better treatment than the deplorable conditions and lack of basic amenities. Keep taking action and fighting for what you deserve! ✊🏻
I’ll never attend this festival again, btw and I’m glad they cancelled it this year. This festival needs to never happen again under the same hands that it’s in now. They are so unorganized, unprofessional, they don’t listen to what consumers are saying, they cheap out in any way they can, the over promise and under deliver… the list goes on. I actually won’t be attending any fests for a while until the bad feelings associated with them go away.
This is the plot of The Producers but with music festivals. Wow.
If you're doing a large domestic (United States) festival, go with a Danny Wimmer Presents event. You'll pay more but it's a much more reliable service. You always get what you pay for. If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
". . . until the claim is settled. . . did you know stress from sweat is smellier than normal sweat. . . I don't believe you. . ." These ads crack me up sometimes.
Now the blue ridge rock festival has been cancelled. They made the statement on their instagram.
The only music festival I go to is 70K. Every stage but 1 has seating and air conditioning, the one that doesn't, has a pool. Great video as always.
A1 info bro. I went to blue ridge 21 and 22. I had the time of my damn life. Wait times were definitely ass overall, but I didn’t go through a lot of the shit. I didn’t camp which definitely helped. I haven’t been to any other festivals either, so nothing to compare to. It definitely seemed a bit janky, but the lineups were so good that it made up for it. I went to 23 as well, and camped for the first time, which obviously was ass. Friday was fun tho. I had no idea what was going on behind the scenes. Drink lines were short and the porta johns I used in the fest were clean. I got lucky. But yeah. No internet so I had no idea was what going on. Saturday started with rain and then cleared up. Luckily I got out of there before they cancelled the rest of it. But yeah this whole situation kills me. I didn’t know about the bullshit. Despite the terrible management, I had so much fun in 21 and 22 that this fest still has a place in my heart. Call it Stockholm syndrome maybe lol but it was really fun for me. Obviously no defense for 23. I hope someone buys it. Not many options on the east coast US other than Rockville, as far as I know
Should do a video on the pull the plug patch fiasco that happened this past year between the smear campaign to the American distributor losing thousands of dollars worth of their patches because of one neglectful staff member
Also to clarify I’m on ptpp’s side because most the claims against them were exaggerated or misinformed. But unbiased breakdown of everything in video form would be nice
lol @3:39 a little Cartman and authori-tigh
I couldn't resist haha
I went in 2021 with my mom (She had just retired as a teacher and she's a big time metal head) 2021 was a blunder as well but nowhere near as bad as this! 2021 had a ton of issues including trash piling up, no security, no bag checks, long lines for food, showers running out of water, ADA services not available, shuttles not running, no one checking parking validations and camping being oversold. It was a hike just getting to the festival grounds and lines so far back you don't even know where it goes to! It got worse in 2022 and this past year. Glad I didn't go and I won't ever go again unless DWP takes it over. The bands were great but you also couldn't get cellphone reception.
Uh lol 21 was actually worse, they just patched it up and didn't have the weather to compete with lol...we didn't even have real security or more than 4 buses that year until the weekend😂
22 was fine aside from shuttles being a suck tbh
Thanks for creating such great video and keeping us aware! Hoping more people see this video.
Cheers🤘
I was there and have my own story. Still no “resolution”, just radio silence
Why is it that a super chill YT host can do more research than a local news channel? Why can't the people interviewing this Slye liar do the same research and hold him accountable? First time seeing a vid of yours and very much enjoy your presentation. I will probably do a binge watch of more. Also, Lyin' Slyes is good name for a band - "dibs".
That 5 page apology essay feels like a total joke. As if it's a parody of a corporate apology letter just to disguise the fact that they just don't want to give out refunds. Even so much as refraining from using the word. 😆😆😆
Dang... The segment about his family reminded me of Genesis - Jesus he knows me...
Two thousand twenty twenty two.... you kinda hurt my brain with that one lol
I’ve play so many shows for Slye over the years and ohh jeeeezzzz do I have stories.
Oh I am all ears lol
They are calling banks to dispute the dispute now as of yesterday
While at LouderThanLife, we met some dudes from Germany that traveled to go to BlueRock and LTL, we were complementing their bluerock lineup shirt when they told us what happened…what a fucking bummer…Im glad they got to enjoy their time at LTL but i feel so bad for anyone that traveled for that fest.
I spent thousands on this. Rented an RV for a week. Bought new canopies and a lot of other camping gear. We had friends fly in from Netherlands to join us. We drove from NY. Disappointment doesn't begin to describe what that was.
Great video but why did you say two thousand twenty twenty three
Idk man sometimes my brain is dumb
@@wyattsmetal real
The sorry felt like the southpark skit with bd "I'm sorry..." you all know what I mean...^^
Thanks for talking about this! Blue Ridge Rock Festivals is a scam!
I was here dude. Worst concert/festival experience of my life. It felt like I was living in an Eric Andre sketch or something
From reading their statement, it sounds to me like they're trying to convince their insurance carrier that the weather was the actual legitimate reason to cancel the show.
Thus, abling them to collect on the "interruption and abandonment" policy.
Even though the actual reason the festival was cancelled was because most of the staff left in digust over the abhorrent conditions they were forced to work under.
Of which there is plenty of proof available.
Good luck with that, BRRF.
Wyatt is the pen name I use for karaoke at the gay bar every Thursday. Loving the analysis & drama.
This was quite eye-opening for me. Thanks for the information.
John V. Sly sounds like the name of a Burn Notice Villain.
My brother and his gf went to that, along with a lot of my friends, and they said it was terrible.
If this has been a problem with every single Blue Ridge fest this guy has put on, then for fuck’s sake STOP GIVING HIM FESTIVAL PERMITS GOD DAMN IT!
Sly hasn’t been pained the last few months for not being able to speak about BRRF. He’s been working for DWP getting bands for Rockville, Sonic and others. smh
I think I can see where the name to the video game character Sly came from XD
sly cooper has nothing to do with this turd nugget sly cooper has morals
You’re a wicked cool dude I’m a recent subscriber but I’ll keep watching and clicking like and all that junk
Great continued coverage over this mess
Not surprised
His name even sounds sketch... Sly. 😂
You can't make that up. Right up there with Bernie Made-off 😂
Brooo... The phytagoras 💀! dude... The.. the.. KINKSHAMER 💀, good god. I hope they're ballers, the names are goof ah hell
Was there, I’ve known all of this but managed to bully them into giving me free vip tickets so I made the 8 hour drive to the show I paid for camping. I have been a longtime naysayer but when I was there I understood why so many defended going back it was nice to see so many heavy bands having huge crowds and everyone was having a great time. It wasn’t like when you go to another major festival with mainly radio acts on it where a side stage gets almost half full no didn’t matter if it was beginning of day with angelmaker or end of night with Lorna shore (on at the same time as Danzig) the area was packed out and everyone knew what to expect so you didn’t have the growing pains of the radio rock crowd that doesn’t know any better. The side by side main stages and that hill they are on were also perfect you could see and hear great from a long way off. Every single other thing about the way this festival was sucked though. I have so many thoughts and this is too long already so I’ll end here but I am glad I saw it for myself
Sounds like you had a great time and I'm sure thousands of others did too. And its those great memories that keep people attending year after year, despite all the bullshit, long lines and negative press.
There's more!?!?
When I was there at brrf 2022 he went to camps and asked about things that could be fixed, this year even during the fest he was pretty silent for it...imo, good idea on paper and have been for a couple years, needs to be addressed and changed...been stunned as was refunded from the country fest bs...leadership and safety issues needs to be changed heavily...blue ridge was a rocking badass time for a bit and was first rock fest I attended. hate to see the stuff that has happened and would love to see future festivals
I wanna see the line up for his first festival if homie can pull the bands for Blue Ridge and that was like peck MySpace Christian music so the lineup was probably sick, I've been looking and at this time the only other band I saw that played was Emery
I was there the day before, dropping off supplies for a friend’s business who was a sponsor, and it was a shit show then. Glad I had to leave on tour and couldn’t stick around for the craziness. 2021 was enough for me.
Cant belive that guys name is Slye
I just realised who wyatt looks like.....Ryan kinel from the RK outpost channel!! Is that your long lost twin brother?!!
I've gotten this many times before actually lol
This sounds like a metal version of the fyre festival. Nearly the same thing happened there.
"CRYPTO"

Doing the Lord's work you are my son 🙏
Nice work.
Great video I really enjoyed it
I think this festival was beneficial for the attendees. It showed that everyone can survive a sh1t show and they are not important. And everyone who grew up thinking they were special wanting to speak to the managers who attended Blue Ridge, I believe, have a new, fresh outlook on life, that they are just a number in the machine and not important to the wealthy overlords of society.
And the other 95% or so of people who just wanted a good experience and not a completely borked scam? Why is it entitled to just want something of value? Did the STAFF deserve this shit too?
@@MarquisLeary34 you're not special, nobody is special. My point is we need to feed to corporate machine so somebody makes a lot of money and a bunch of people get the end of the shaft.
Everyone has luxury access in their pockets now. But that doesn't mean they are entitled to anything. Your money is not meant to ensure any comfort for you. It is meant to fuel the ruling and corporate class.
The sooner you accept that and stop being an object entitled spoiled brat, the easier it will be for all of us.
You're welcome we don't have indentured servants anymore. We didn't used to have to necessarily pay people for doing medial jobs like scanning tickets and doing strip searches and collecting money for us people that actually matter in society.
You don't pay significantly toward those that make the laws of this country, BUT I DO. And I'm tired of you lesser than getting all pissy cause your cheap tea party got rained out.
Cry me a river you peasant.
That first statement should have started with how to get refunds but the fact that they still can’t say that after the third is utterly fucking pathetic.
And now the act you all waited for "Sly And The Family Fraud".
Why are so many Charlie Browns buying Lucy's football kicking tickets every year? Bands and audience. Once is understandable, but this is chronic and glaring.
The question I'm asking is "each year the same problem happens, why is Blue Ridge Rock Festival allowed to happen?" Sounds like John sly (can't spell his surname) should be in prison (bang to rights).
Love Wyatt
Is aftershock legit? 😂
Heard Blue Ridge Rock Festival was as shitty as Woodstock 99 😢.
I was at both. The conditions at Woodstock were definitely way worse, but at least we got to see the bands.
It’s been happening for as long as I can remember with him…Someone plz look up driven fest 😂😂😂😂
Why do people continue to pay big bucks to go to shows put on by the same lying guy, year after year which never work out? Learn your lesson and stop listening to him.
A generational family of con artists. Wow.
They keep posting statuses saying they’re coming up with “resolutions” and every one is saying ok how about refunds? That’s seems to be when they’re silent on the issue. Johnathan sly is a con artist as far as I’m concerned.
Anyone else find it hilarious the dude’s name is sly? It’s like reality has its funny little way of warning us. 😂😂😂
🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Muddy Roots is still the best music festival.
Slye needs some jail time to reflect on his actions, I think.
Task failed successfully?
Dude, do something about your microphone. It's way too quiet and I have to put my volume on full blast to be able to hear you. I've noticed this in all your videos so it's an audio engineering issue
Tbh I don't know what the hell the problem is. I've gotten new equipment and make a point to increase the volume before uploading it. It's not intentional and I'm trying to figure it out
@@wyattsmetal thanks for the reply, yeah I find voice audio to be quite difficult. I have noticed you have improved your setup and it definitely sounds better than some of your older videos. In still a great video and I hope that dickhead sly gets a class action lawsuit against him. That church stuff is insane as well, you can tell his entire family are con artists and should be in jail
@@wyattsmetalYou're using a Shure SM7B which is a notoriously gain-hungry microphone, and not all audio interfaces have enough gain to get it up to a proper recording level. If your new equipment includes a different audio interface than what you had before, it could very well be that you need a Cloudlifter or a FetHead to boost the SM7B's level going into the audio interface.
Share! Share! Share! We gotta get Coffeezilla on this too lol
Another awesome video ❤❤
Dudes “apology” to the camera was fake AF and frankly creepy as hell. What a douche.
I hope this avalanche of information causes BRRF2k24 tanks and this cycle of nonsense finally ends
2022 was a complete disaster. I hate to say it, but I don't feel too bad for the people who went in 2023. Definitely should have known better.
But at least you had 4 days of bands in 2022. This was my first one in 2023 and I went to make up for missing 2022. Shit show or not, I regret not going to 2022.
Love this guy
Authorit-ah 😂😂😂❤
Agents need to quit booking bands if this guy is involved. Sly guy lmao
Wow
