Dragon Age Veilguard looks BAD?! - according to an Anti-Fan

- Gaze upon the Dragon Age discourse. Gaze upon it and weep. Many people having no clue on what their talking about. Cries of "It looks bad!" and "Not Dragon Age!" abound. Yet none of that is true. So, join me as I talk about how wrong these anti-fans are.
Here is the link to the video I went through: • Dragon Age Or Disney? ...
What do you think about this discourse? And why is it dumb.
At the end of the day, it's a big game, made by a big company, controlled by a larger company who doesn't truly care about the game or player base. Not like all this discourse is going to make EA go "Oop, you're all right. Hur, we made a mistake."
This game was almost doomed to not be the greatest it could be the second EA put their dirty fingers all in it. Any disagreement is just wrong, since the game's identity has changed 3 times, and most people only know of 2
@@deathkingmoxi8328 I can get that but honestly don't think it will be that bad. From what I have seen at least.
i dont understand all the hate tbh and i hate to break it to people but dragon age has always been "woke" since origins its like people commenting have never played a bioware game, regardless im excited from everything ive seen so far unless the gameplay reveal sucks hoping its sick
@@verysad7982 yeah. It's so clear the people who are complaining are just anti-fans.
I am very excited for the game. It looks amazing. I am so excited.
Well they showed gameplay preview, and it looks even more like sh*t XD
If the trailer is not at all representative of the style, tone and characters of the game, then why release it? And while DA hasn't had the best trailers and trailers have overall been somewhat different from the actual game they still been close enough where they are representative of what we get in the game, all that to say there's no defending that goofy ahh Darkspawn.
Also DA2 was literally the best DA game.
I agree. I also think DA2 is the best Dragon Age game.
I just don't think it's that bad. The trailer is fine enough. I also don't see the issue with the darkspawn. They look scary and intimateding.
First off, it is a complete mismatch in visuals and tone with comparison to the older games.
Secondly, that ridiculous marvelesque opening...which is lighthearted vs the game's older tone which is gritty, heavy, dark and less uppity silly.
3) Darkspawn and the Fade are no joke and they are depicted as such.
A veiljumper really? Poor Tamlen got fucked but no special elf is a 'specialist'. Sorry it just takes away the danger. The stakes and doom of the place.
And now Dwarves have magic? We are going against the lore now?
4) There is something off on the designs of the trailer (particular the cunari the face is poorly proportioned) the nose is too big in the trailers and the upperlip too small. The ears on the black greywarden are just stuck on with glue, no proper positioning how they would line up with his face...this looks like a rush job and hopefully not be the final product in gameplay.
Why origins fans are complaining?
Well you tell a story and have build a certain setting with rules, you don't just take that palette and throw it against the wall just because you want to tick boxes.
And you wanna say they don't have intricate lore? You go talk with Dirthgalen then.
For the record, I don't give a flying f who develops it, I just want an immersive game and I don't dig bad comic vibe with in your face ticked boxes.
Cause at this point the new Doom trailer looks more DA then the new DA!
I don't know my guy. Look at in game DAO and compare it to the DAV trailer. The models look similar. Its not bad or not in line with the other games. Its fine.
And as per this video and the one before it I agreed characters like the Veil Jumper were odd. If they exist their needs to be an explanation on why they can casual just move between the real world and the Veil.
As for the dwarves being able to do magic; there are explanations for that like the Titans. And also it was clear in Dragon Age that the dwarves being resistant to magic has its expectations. Like our dwarf warden dreaming in the Fade. All they have to do is explain it. Its not against lore that dwarves have some element of magic. If they explain it poorly then its bad.
The designs look good. Not much to say about it.
DAO fans are still mad that they fooled themselves into thinking the game was something it isn't. DAO is the way it is for a reason. Not because it was just a thing to do.
What? I don't think I said plagues don't exist. I just said I don't remember plagues being a plot point in the games. Also do you really think the guy I responded to, who he himself said isn't a lore guy, meant Blight?
Are you kidding, with all due respect, but the facial features in DAO to DAI have always been more realistic in proportion, symmetrically sound. This looks like a rush job, hence the cartoony vibe.
If that is your schtick fine, but for me it is important. I want proper lined up stuff, not a weekend rush job, ah we'll stick the ears on with glue and they won't notice it kind of deal.
The Dwarves are cut off of the Titans, so unless you pull a mysterious foundling like Sandal they can't do magic. They indeed need to address these new changes then without breaking the existent lore.
The Eluvians, Darkspawn and the Fade/Veil have always been dangerous and not something to joke about. The trailer does them serious injustice and could have made her character so much more impressive they depicted her doing this differently, building up the threat that is still there and building up her character as knowledgable and formidable, instead we get a jokey oops I did almost make it.
Also, this is purely the fault of the trailer but...
The characters are easily replacable with other characters, there is little personality jumping off the screen there save for maybe one or two. The blank eyed stare is back, sadly. Nothing of their own personality really shown as a taste.
Just the typical team labeling.
This is the Nerd, this is the Brawn, this is the useless and probably remains on camp the entire time character....
Another missed opportunity there. This game is supposedly the final hope for Bioware, so they need this to succeed. Again I do nor know whether it is the marketing departement being morons, but this trailer does nothing to bring in the old gamers who want the game and who have the money to buy it nor does it really entice the younger audience since it looks like a dime a dozen mobile game...and those are usually free.
@@djokealtena2538 They have realistic proportions? I don't know what to say other than look at the trailer. It looks fine. Also I advice you to give the gameplay teaser and in game screenshots a look. It looks a lot better for people worried its to cartoon-y.
I know. Now hear me out. What if... Some dwarves were reunited again. Now this isn't me saying that is happening. Just me saying that the statement "Dwarves can't have magic" just isn't true. I will agree with you if they do it poorly or give no explanation at all.
And as I said in my comment I agree. The Veil is dangerous and as Dragon Age shows. But the Veil jumper just feels off. I would rather it be not done in such a goofy way.
My guy its a trailer. The DAO trailer that has Sten, Morrigan and Leliana show nothing about them. The most it does is show Morrigan is a snarky. But like... That's not her character. I think assuming they are replaceable is looking for problems where there is none.
Why the trailer is the way it is, is because EA doesn't understand Dragon Age. Mark Darrah (former Dragon Age executive producer) said as much. EA only knows how to do sports and FPS trailers. Not RPGs really.
Um, we have seen ONE Dwarf who had possible magic potential in the series before, and we could attempt to get them to go to a local Circle. Also I can get some lightheartedness, IE people using humor as a way to cope with say, being in the Veil
@@Knight1029 I could swear in either Origins or 2, maybe Inquisition, we meet a Dwarf who has seemingly some magical capabilities
Have to disagree on this. The cartoonish look is like a shock to fans who were shown a dark tone setting yes the trailers may not look like the game but it still represents the game. Imagine someone hopscotching out of the veil. The silly weird jokes and marvel tone. Bro no way in hell something gets downvoted that hard and there’s no truth to it. This ain’t about BioWare. They set the game a certain way then it turned weird. The dark spawn looks silly and cartoonish. One character is 1v1ing a dragon. Whole trailer looks like a joke. But one thing I’ll agree with is let’s wait for gameplay. And I played all three dragon ages and liked them for different reasons but this I’m not liking the look of so far.
I just don't get that. You can literally go to the Dragon Age twitter and look at a teaser for the gameplay reveal. It looks amazing. Like honestly.
@@Knight1029if u cant notice obvious signs of bad work u will unnecessarily make ur own life difficult by staying obliviously WILLINGLY! it looks bad. That's a bad sign!
Prince of persia ubisoft india looked bad too. Bet u thought it looked amazing !
@@Knight1029also if u keep making excuses for rubbish u deserve rubbish! The reason most movies are bad is because people make excuses for horrible marvel movies. Hence they deserve the garbage they get!
@@yup001 what? The game looks amazing. Have you not seen the new gameplay reveal? It looks just gorgeous. From the art to the music to the designs. It's a well crafted game.
Um, 1v1ing a dragon looks awesome
If u justify every bad decision by saying people hate bioware
Its like saying captain marvel and the marvels were good movies people just want to HATE marvel!
Those were bad movies! U can blame people or u can say marvel had a bad product that FAILED to make the audience spend their money on it.
The trailers job is ADVERTISEMENT. If people say it looked bad then BIOWARE FAILED to do its one job
In the marvel instance it was people just hating woman. Nothing more. Now do I think it's a good movie? Not really. It's not my thing.
With Bioware it is just hate for hates sake. People have always misunderstood Bioware which lead to hating them for things they don't even want to do. Like people really are hating them for not trying to make games like Fallout New Veags even though they never tried to make that.
@@Knight1029 its cant be people hating woman if its also not a good movie. If its a good movie and then people hate it then u can say yeah it was probably about people hating woman.
@@Knight1029 A movies sole job is to get people to buy tickets. If it cant do that then it clearly failed at its 1 job. Its a business! And as a business no amount excuses will get you profits! So marvel failed to understand their OWN audience! Marvel failed to make a good movie! These are the only acceptable reasons. Anything else is just excuses. Because if Marvel keeps making such movies they will have to shut down!
Was she hulk good? Or is that hating women too? Echo? Was that good? Secret invasion?
And as far as DA goes im only judging the trailer. The animation looked bad like it didn't belong in 2024!
Also lets assume that the marvels is oscar worthy movie and echo is the best tv show. And fans still hated it because of women. Then it would still be marvel would still be in the wrong, because its a business job to make profits by understanding their audience and by working to deliver products and services that will attract customers legally!
but the fact that u used the term"hating woman" is a good indicator of people not to trust ur opinion. U clearly buy into pr bs rather than have ur own opinions!
@@yup001 I didn't say it was a good movie. I literally said I don't like it. But that doesn't mean bad. It just means it's fine. It a okay movie. But people keep up the idea that it's a bad movie even though they actual just hate woman.
@@yup001 I thought the goal of a movie was to be achieve its goal? Now does that mean if a movies goal is money that it can fail on that? Yeah but judging on that metrics Marvel succeed.
But for Dragon Age I think it succeed in its goal. If you look at the new gameplay reveal it looks great and feels great.
I call them like I see them. If a thing is bad then say it's bad. A woman being their is irrelevant. Yet it seems for many people it is.
The trailer has definitely the Overwatch style )))
Now when we know that the real gameplay looks different it is obvious this is just a fun video about a group of friends boarding for an adventure.
But anyways, how does this differ from the Varric's tale in DA2 when he raided a villa killing dozens of foes with a single arrow... :))
I remember a friend of mine also saying the trailer was reminiscent of how Varric told stories in DA2. Which makes a lot of sense. Varric likes to make things cooler or more real then they are.
It's an EA game, that's the only reason I need to hate it.
It's also a Bioware game. I think that can be liked.
@@Knight1029 I thought same thing in 2012 and ever since then I never turned back.
@@44milosLP I just don't get it. Bioware games are fine. Anthem is a bit of an issue.

Same! I can't wait to play it to!
@@Knight1029 You're both psychopaths lol
@@JohnSmith-rr3jt maybe but yeah I am happy.
Did this man just compare a game from 15 years ago in gameplay to a cinematic trailer now? THAT IS THE PROBLEM. The live gameplay from origins shouldnt be comparable.
Now that said, i dont care about art. I see the arguments and i think their stupid. Im still playing bg1 and 2, still playing origins, and other older games. As long as its a good game, itll be fine.
So much drama for no reason in this community
What's the issue with DAO's style? The only issue is that it isn't graphically great. But otherwise it's still fine. I don't particularly care about it being similar.
Yeah, graphics aren't everything.
@Knight1029 I don't see a problem with either style, but it feels disingenuous to ever compare the two graphically. A better comparison would've been comparing to da2 with its insane development cycle- and even then on an older engine the visuals should still not be comparable.
All this trailer looked like was an AI upscale old engine demo. But I don't see why it looks that way since what I saw looked different in game. If they would have made the trailer in game like they did for Dai it wouldn't have got nearly the backlash.
And I think arguments about visuals for a game that hasn't even shown the general viewers THE game yet is wack.
Will I still play it? Of course
Will I love it? Most likely
Will I pay attention to all the ranting and raving of critics and people having strange opinions? No, because it doesn't affect me
It's nothing to you or any other creator making content on this. But as a MASSIVE fan of dragonage, seeing all this discourse and arguments, is tiring. I didn't wait a decade for everyone to hate each other.
@@deathkingmoxi8328 I don't want to argue or be in this discourse either. But people are doing this. The best I can do is push back against the people who are making this non-issue an issue.
Also I was comparing art styles not graphics. I think that's a big different.
@@Knight1029 fair enough
To me, I think we should wait till we see more
We did see the gameplay reveal and it looked great!
But thank you for this. To me, I say "Wait for more to come out"
I agree. Though what has come out is pretty great!

@@Knight1029 Yeah, I can get SOME of the critique, like how this game is seemingly trying to be more action focused...but 9/10 times I wait till a game is officially out, or we see review copy given, well, reviews, before I really judge a game
@@chrisdiokno5600 I think that's a good attitude to take. Reserve judgement until the game comes out. Make your own opinion. I can respect that.

@@chrisdiokno5600 I can see that. It's so weird to me that people think someone enjoying a thing means they are a shill. I just don't get it.
@@Knight1029 I think it's if a company, for better or worse, gets a bad rap, then any support is seen as people well, "shilling" for that company and supporting them no matter what. Good God, one thing I hate is how people blame "the wokes" or "the gays" whenever they see things they may not agree with in media. Makes me wanna plant my face into a wall, especially when their comments can at times come off as thinly veiled bigotry
@chrisdiokno5600 its so clear that the issue these guys have is just "wokes" and nothing else. If Dragon Age didn't have any "wokennes" they wouldn't spare a thought for it. They are just using it as a weapon to push their agenda.
Oh boy, seeing other reactions to it, and the usual idiots are going on about the "jarring diversity" and I'm like, "How?" Like, we've known for ages that this world isn't some purely Eurocentric locale. Like yes, Orlais is vaguely French/Italian/Spanish....but the people there were also shown as not fully white, same with Ferelden
Yeah, I remember playing DAO for the first time and seeing a dark skinned guy. I was like "Oh, cool it's just like that." I was surprised because most fantasies don't do that. But that was it.
All I see when people say "jarring diversity" is that they haven't played the games or don't understand them at all.
@@Knight1029 Or they just wanna jump on the bandwagon of "Oh, non white folk or trans folk, or non hetero folk in my Western fantasy? The wokeists must be up to their shenanigans again."
