I remember when DoD came out. I think it was like the first FPS to have voice chat if I'm not mistaken. I played RTCW for like 2 years before it came out so I kinda liked it at first. But I didn't get into it enough. My PC gaming days were already dying down by then. Not that I didn't like it anymore. It just cost too much to keep up with the gaming PCs and everything. I just went back to consoles.
@@_marlene I agree. I remember the mapping community in RTCW made some of the best maps ever. It was so awesome when a new map came out that everyone was playing on because it was like a new land to explore. Tunnels and everything. Good times.
I always try to be like that. It’s one of my favorite things to do. Especially in games like NHL where someone might not even know the fundamentals of the sport itself let alone the idiosyncrasies of the video game.

I loved playing DoD when I was in high school. Even if it was 20 years ago. Great times on that one. HLL all the way now. Great video Husk thanks for the entertainment.
Playing DOD:S in 2024 is one thing. Playing it on NA servers is a wholer nother level. DOD:S was actually the game that got me into competitive shooters. I ran over 6000h across 3 accounts in this hell hole of a game. I enjoyed every second of it. Even played "semi" professional for quite some time. Fragmovie culture, gun games, sniper server's, realism, ESL, forums..... can't name it all but the game had a motivated community for a couple of years. Im talking world wide btw... I can remember playing with georgian mates against portugese players who had a east coast us guy on their team. SA, NA, EU even some japanese players. I could talk about this damn game forever. Hit me up if you want to hear more about it.
Day of Defeat was the first online game that I played consistently with people I only knew through a game. Had a clan with a Ventrilo server, we'd have dedicated game nights & clan battles. It was awesome. My Dad would make jokes like "Have you made it to Berlin yet?!" since I played it so much.
I love that slow calm old guy stoner voice you have. i saw some vids from you without ur face and i was sure its a long haired stoner guy that a bit older.. how wrong i was xD
Hey Husk, you really should try playing Battlefield 1 (Conquest mode). The best of all the Battlefield games, and I heard it is available on STEAM now for $1.99, so there are plenty of new players. I am a BF1 veteran who had moved on to Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042, but 2042 was sooooo bad that I went back to BF1. I play for the PTFO clan (Play the F'in Objectives), so I always try to help players learn how to play the game better and how to actually win the round. Also, it would make a very interesting video for you in showing how in some games (Battlefield in particular), most of the players make NO attempt to play the game properly (in Battlefield Conquest you are supposed to capture the objectives), but just "game the system" and hide behind enemies for cheap kills in order to make themselves look great. LOL! Would make a very interesting video for you. A discussion of the problem of "CAMPER" players. lmao
That first dude going off about your username. Good lord. Some people really are so fragile. Hearing a grown man act like that is just sad. I bet he one of those dudes that just treats online games like its a place to come and talk crap and try to bully people.
I had a clan called Bazooka Squad, and we would play matches where we would operate our strats around the bazooka. When the one with the bazooka died, we had to pick up the bazooka and continue fighting until we all died. We didn't win any matches, but we got some nice bazooka kills.
Even though some of the old heads on Day of Defeat tend to make new players not feel welcome, the community is overall great and gave me a lot of laughs when I needed them. Plus, Day of Defeat Gun Game mode is so damn addictive.
Good video dude! This is the first video of yours that I've seen. This was a cool topic to check out. I am always playing older games now, and Day of Defeat: Source is one I revisit often. Subbed for more 👍
Great stuff ! You should try playing old, actual "dead" games where there is basically one or two players left, it could be interesting to get their perspective on the game/their experience/virtual loneliness and all
I started playing tfc when it came out. I was in my mid 30s. I will occasionally play but most aren't hackers but bots. It's nostalgic but not as much fun when there were live persons playing. (Now 61)
I still play CS: Source almost every single day. It's as old as I am. Funny enough I play on that exact same 24/7 office server that you did in that video every single day. I absolutely love CS source and that server. It's my favorite shooter. No game comes close to how much I love that game currently. Like it's the only game I will play alone and not with friends.
Day of Defeat 🤩 miss it, haven't played in a long time, great community and awesome public servers, I was on the 3tePGD clan and miss the immersive and funny times 👌💥
last time I play Day of Defeat(not source) was 3 years ago. To me, playing old games wasn't really about the community, these gamesa brought me back to a wonderful time that I wish I could live again.
I played the old Day of defeat and played DoDs since it came out. Still play some hours every week because i know the guys on the server and its just fun.
